  • Interior design Libby Langdon invites Open House viewers into one of her recent projects: a bright and airy apartment in New York City's Tribeca neighborhood, where she offers us some fun design tips and inspiration, including how to seamlessly incorporate different elements into one cohesive design and how to blend classic style with modern, easy elegance. The real drama begins when you step off the elevator and into the foyer with its texture linear wallpaper and a circular motif. This curved theme continues in the dining room with barrel-back chairs and key places such as with the hardware on the console, base of the table, and the light crystal chandelier. And while the apartment is predominantly styled in neutral tones, Langdon infused pops of color throughout with large art pieces to help make an impactful style statement.
As for the secret to making a room feel curated yet cozy? Texture! And there are plenty of examples of it in the living room with the wall covering, geometric fabric on the chairs, the expansive tone-on-tone rug, and blue velvet sofa. Additionally, Langdon arranged the furniture layout of the room with her clients' love of entertaining in mind so that guests could soak up the breathtaking water views of New York City right outside during cocktail parties. There is also a separate nook off to the side that serves as a sexy bar lounge - and the chocolate brown croc-embossed wallpaper, petrified wooden coffee table (the organic piece in this space), and swivel chairs that are great for conversation definitely enhance that vibe. The entertaining theme continues in the kitchen with its magnificent super long island that is perfect for cooking prep and chatting with friends.
We wrap up the tour with a peek into the bedrooms, where the goal was to create a calm, peaceful, and serene spaces for each family member. And this aesthetic was achieved through a monochromatic (yet not boring) pale sage & gray color palette that is evident in the wall paint, artwork, bedding, velvet settee with pops of white in the drapes, chandelier, and lamp shades.
