Biz wasn't expecting this from Sabbath...lol Great tune from a legendary album. Don't forget Biz, "Hand of Doom" is on this album, possibly the best Black Sabbath song.
I love this song, almost as much as I love this entire album. I would call this psychedelic jazz, and you hit the nail on the head when you looked at the songs before and after this song; it was a restful interlude as they prepared to hit you between the eyes with opening drum of Iron Man. This album (well, actually for me it was an 8-track tape) was my introduction to Black Sabbath, and I fell in love with them. As much as I love all their early albums, this will always be my favorite. I am unable to know whether that’s because it IS their best or because it was my first.
BizMatik, if you do more of the Paranoid album, when you get to the song "Hand of Doom", make sure to play it straight through into "Rat Salad". Hand of Doom is about a Vietnam vet who turns to Heroin and all that entails, Rat Salad is a continuation, an instrumental and drum solo. It actually makes me think of death rattles and it really compliments the song. Hand of Doom is almost as good as War Pigs. Thanks for the great reaction.
My opinion only, heavy metal didn't exist when this era of Sabbath was happening, Sabbath was creating an entire genre as they went. BS1 thru MoR set the stage for the mid 70s Metal rise. Vol4 was to me the album that finished the creation of metal. The next 2 SBS and Sabotage were Proto Prog Metal.
Are they a versatile bad or what? Pantera also did a cover of this song, it's ok but not like the original. They have another mellow song called Laguna Sunrise on the Volume 4 album.
It's a good album, I personally like M of R better, but RS's don't know what the hell they're talking, they always get it wrong with their top 100 lists
Very underrated song from an album filled with classics.
Floating in the cosmic world love black sabbath
PERFECT
description & summary!!!
Biz wasn't expecting this from Sabbath...lol
Great tune from a legendary album.
Don't forget Biz, "Hand of Doom" is on this album, possibly the best Black Sabbath song.
Pantera does a stellar cover of this song. It's the last track on FAR BEYOND DRIVEN.
Into The Void is like part 2 with a heavier message. Absolutely love me some Sabbath!!
Reminds me of Emerson Lake and Palmer. Very mystical, dreamy, trance-like. One my favorite Sabbath tracks.
Love this one. A National Acrobat is my favorite Geezer lyric. A metaphysical journey through the universe's creation as an embryo.
The idea of Planet Caravan was Geezer thinking about travelling across the stars with a loved one - in his thoughts, the ultimate romantic getaway.
Solitude and Fluff are similar tracks like this from Sabbath ... But the whole Sabbath bloody sabbath album is a master piece.
Definitely one of my favorites on this album. Pantera did an amazing cover of this song that's just as good if not better.
One of my favorite Pantera recordings was their cover of Planet Caravan.
Biz Caravan
Sabbath!
Black Sabbath 1968-eternity🤘
Been a while since I heard that one. Very cool
SABBATH never had pressure. They just created....
Tony Iommi doing his mellow, gypsy jazz guitar styling.

My fav chill out tune from my teen days Put the headphones on melt away
You should listen to band called " EARTH ". That was Black Sabbath before they changed their name. Their influences were CREAM- Hendrix & other bands.
wow'''', brings back too many memories... especially of who I used to be back then', it's too hard to listen to', but thanks for doing this yo' 👍

You'd never guess it was Sabbath
Biz....You Have to checkout Pantera`s Cover of this....YES...its all that!
check out Pantera's cover of this it may be Dimes best solo.
certainly his cleanest
Good one for some massive bong loads, acid hits and snorts of whiskey.
... and drinking cocaine! lol
I hope you sparked one before listening to this cosmic masterpiece. This tune exemplifies why Black Sabbath is considered stoner Rock!!
On the list… Into The Void from Masters Of Reality album.

Metal is when you wish you were Black Sabbath but you aren't.
