“The Plan” is an awesome album! Nice crunchy guitars, very urgent and aggressive drumming and an “In yer face” production. None of the songs re-appearing on the official debut would have the same impact, because of the smoother production and more sophisticated drumming by Gary’s uncle. In that sense, the debut is a somewhat hesitant hybrid of The Plan and Replicas. It suggests that new wave is tamed down punk, but it’s actually the dilemma of opting for catchy guitar riffs on one hand or nice synth melodies on the other. Gary eventually decided it would be the latter. Nevertheless, “The Plan” is a severely underrated Numan album.
Hi Graeme, really enjoyed this and thanks for the shout-out. I really didn't know much about Numan at all...I've just got a fully Spotify account sorted, so I'll stick him on the list of artists to check out in full!
Hi James, I have been planning to do something on Numan for a while but you provided the inspiration to actually get it done. So cheers for that. I really have to listen to his later stuff. Cheers!
Love it Love it Love it......can`t wait for the next installment. I`m a big Numan fan and like to thik i`ve got a healthy Numan collection and am always looking to add to it. Are friends electric ? was the very first record i ever purchased and i still have it and cherish it and i really think it`s one of the most important records in british music history. Perhaps i might do my own little Numan piece, giving my reason for thinking so ???
I think that is a great idea Nick. I was going to do one long video on Numan but it would probably have been an hour long! The first of his songs I remember well is Cars. But more on that later! Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers!
My 2 piece band ( bloody frights) have always joked that we will split over the fact that Paul prefers the first album and I prefer replicas ( I'm right)
I have only come round to him after my post apocalyptic nightmare of the late 80s when he was only musician in a Smash hits in an election special that admitted to voting and was a brazen Tory. I wonder where he stands now? Anyway we all make mistakes me included 🤖 said the dalek climbing off the dustbin.......

You are at 666 subscribers right now. Whats up. Lol. We can all relate to that intro. I don't have any Tubeway.
Cheers for stopping by Richard!
