- In this series, we go over sets and blocks in Magic and talk about what impact they’ve had on the game and the playerbase. There may not be a single block that’s more well liked and well remembered than Innistrad block. This gothic horror themed set is one of the darkest settings in the multiverse, as well as sporting multiple fan favorite mechanics and cards. Today, we’re going to return to our first visit to the plane and answer the question - why does everyone love Innistrad?

"Lillian of the Veil". You're killing me 😥
0815 rage bait thanks for falling for it
Geist of saint TAFT KEKW.
Innistrad 2 Electric Boogaloo was my first introduction to magic. I do love myself some innistrad.
Do you like the glut of its characters in Thunder Junction?
@@christopherb501 I'd say yes some more some less. Certainly less thematic than we are used from the actual plane sets. Most are just "Undead go bbbbrrrr" but the gitrog for example is a really nice example of it's revenous nature.
Cool formate would love to see more of this set reviews. As a new(ish)player i always love to learn more about the older sets.
Set reviews! Awesome! I love it already, great work as usual ❤
I think what's great about the mechanics is how well they cause players anxiety, which is perfect for the setting.
"My opponent played a human werewolf? What horrible thing does it do when it transforms?"
"My opponent cast a card with flashback? When will they cast it again?"
"What happens if my creatures die? What if my opponent has got a morbid payoff?"
Forbidden alchemy was also a rather important flashback card in OG Innistrad standard. It allowed control decks to dig and fill their graveyard.
I loved this! I hope it becomes a recurring series. One thing I would love is if you would touch on the some of the best decks for a sets standard environment. Just a thought.
I love at 21:14 you can hear someone yelling for their mom
Cool video. Innistrad was my first set and it was def a great one to start on. Amazing cards and mechanics.
One card you forgot to mention that saw play with the Morbid mechanic was Tragic Slip.
Small edit I forgot that card shows up in Dark Ascension. I realized it after I made the post oops.
OG Innistrad is the best set of all time. The art, the flavor, the gameplay, its all there. This set got me back into the game after a few years break and ive been chasing the dragon ever since.
You missed the green mythic Tree of Redemption.
At my lgs I never saw the high priest. The only morbid spell I remember people playing was tragic slip, oh and brimstone volley
Amazing!🎉
Ah yes, Garruk Relentless.
My favorite Red Planeswalker.
Funnily enough, if Army of the Damned produces tokens with decayed, it would justify the tapped ETB because people won't use it as intended. They use it for Blood Artist decks. Hence the urgency to kill the tokens right away.
This set needed at least one low raritie edict effect to keep invisible stalker in check. I also dont think that would be too hard to make it fit the flavor of the set as well.
Wasn't Brimstone Volley also played?
I think so, and I remember people playing tragic slip too
Great video
21:08 you can hear his cat in the background.
14 mana for a witch orb! Lol great video btw
Cant you just run 3 Mirror-Mad Phantasm in your Skaab deck? That looks like an engine that'll decently enable Skaabs while not entirely decking you out in a turn
Ah yes, the graveyard. My home
Doesn't mention burning vengeance at all, that's a crime against innistrad draft. Funnest draft archetype arguably ever.
It's not the rares that make a set, never has been. Although those tend to be the face, it's always been the commons and uncommons on which a set stands or fails. (explains the forgettability of recent sets ) Rares are fun, but you really can't make a streamlined deck exclusively with them. Innistrad had some amazing commons, despite being a new world order block.
I love innistrad ❤

Theming, for me. Gothic and Folk Horror with a splash of Eldritch help it dig in to me.
really wish WotC would go back to formats with weak creatures with powerful, but restrictive, abilities. Nowadays it seems like they are trying to compete with the last set to see how many new op legacy staples they can print.
Also less signposting.
why did you talk about making an earlier video about the lore and then NOT LINK IT??????
No idea really... It's just ok
Man, Magic is able to get away with some stuff on their card art.
Yeeeaah, Markov's Servant may be many things, but "monstrous" sure as hell isn't one of them.
This videos mispronounced word is "Lillian" in place of "Liliana"
Why do better when no one can make you...
Oh and Geist of Saint TAFT. Bonus word!
Pretty sure he does it on purpose.
“Snapchaser”
@@Icious82 damn I didn't even notice that one.
And now we cowboys and furries. Damn it.
