And it was not in Sweden it was in the continental part of Europe. Not in the Scandinavian countries. We just did participate we did not have the war at our ground that time.
The Carolus Rex album was released with both an English and Swedish version, the difference being that the Swedish tells the story from our view/a Swedish soldier's view while the English are more from an outsider's view of the war. The album Carolus Rex is about a part of Swedish history called the era of great power (stormaktstiden in Swedish) when Sweden was one of the ruling nations. I was at this show (sitting somewhere in the middle of the platform to the left from this view of the stage) They had sold out the arena so we were 10766 metalheads in the arena that night (going by facts online and in the newspaper after the show) Needles to say, it was one hell of a show that night.
It's an epic Sabaton song! I love it! It's about the 30-year war (1618-1648) which was the rivalry of the Habsburgs and Catholic states with the Protestants for leadership in the Empire which took place in today's Germany mainly. Soldiers from Sweden left their country and mostly didn't come back fighting often through all their life :( It's a sad song but amazing. Amazing performance! Thanks for reacting to this song. I don't know your music taste but Sabaton's got some songs from the US history, e.g. 82 All the Way, Screeming Eagles, To Hell and Back, No Bullets Fly, and Devil Dogs.
The 100 years war was a conflict between England and France. Sweden was never involved in that. En livstid i krig is about the 30 years war which mainly took place in central/western Europe. It was a war between the Protestants and the Catholics. The Swedish king Gustav II Adolf (Gustavus Adolphus) was a prominent figure in the war. He landed with the Swedish army in modern day northern Germany the 25th June 1630. He turned the tide in the war for the Protestants which had been loosing battle after battle against the Catholics up to that point. He became referred to as "the lion from the north". The era of the "Swedish empire" started with him. Tommy is actually turning 36 this year. =P
The song title is one of few examples of phrases written identically in all 3 Scandinavian countries (Denmark, Sweden, Norway), although the actual pronunciation will differ slightly.
I am sure someone's mentioned it but the reference is to the time of the Thirty Years War 1618 - 1648 which had similar background to the “English Civil War“ which involved “Catholic“ monarchists, “protestant“ forces and “Calvinists“. Sweden was a champion of the Lutheran side and was fighting in Germany. They were also fighting Denmark-Norway for control of the area around Gothenburg - a city founded and fortified in 1621 as a bulwark against Denmark-Norway. I also seem to remember that the Swedes were the first to have military conscription in its modern sense too. As they were fighting the Danes, the Catholic Emperor and Poland at the same time.
Sabaton really likes reaction channels so they don’t copyright claim (unless it’s videos from wakken, but then they are claimed by wakken, not Sabaton) so you don’t have to make the videos opaque, if you continue to react to them
FIrst of all, its about that you could be born, be sent to war and die during the 30 years wars, thus a lifetime. Singing that to 20k decsendants to vikings, this is what you get.
This song is about the Thirty Years War between Sweden and Russia (1618 to 1648). The Hundred Years War happened in the Medieval Era between England and France
@@alancarter41 That actually does happen more than ever makes it onto the channel! The number of times the opening goes wrong is surprising - you start laughing and there goes an hour of being unable to do anything but laugh as soon as you hit record!
🇸🇪 Sabaton is amazing 🇸🇪
Yeah, and if Norway and Sweden came back together, this would probably be our national anthem.
In the begining he says "let's all sing together!". The 30 year war between protestants and catholics was literally a life time of war.

He is saying: Are you ready my friends? Now we are singing en livstid I krig.
No need to obfuscate Sabaton videos. They are ok with reactors using their videos.

You seem to have an interest in the 80th and Tommy Johansson loves the 80th .. you might find more than Disneyton on his channel 😉
They sing about the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648) .. Where Sweden became a great power 💙💛
And even greater robber.
@@honzabalak121 every country fought for territory not just sweden
@@kingseb2252 I'm not talking about territory. I'm talking about Codex Gigas.
Sounds amazing in Swedish ❤
one thing i find interesting is that the Swedish and English songs are actually a little different because their done from different perspectives
This song is about the Thirty Years War between Sweden and Russia (1618 to 1648). The Hundred Years War happened in the Medieval Era between England and France
Not between sweden and russia. The whole europe were involved, and some consider the 30 years war as the first world war.
@@Northman-from-the-North ah, I forgot about that
Actually, Tommy does Sabaton songs in the style of Disney princess music. he calls them DisneyTon
I had a feeling I got that slightly wrong after I said it but I just couldn't remember the exact details when the camera rolled

They also have a channel called sabaton history where they go in depth about the history and a little about the song itself
Yeah its great that a band like Sabaton is trying to raise awareness about history like this using their own platform to do it.
Nobody is saying that in this video, was it before?
It could have been - it was one of the comments of someone who said they were at that concert.
liking them? ure just so cold?? do u feel the torment or?
Buahhh, vaya dos personas sin sangre ni alma
