Gentleman, thank you very much for your great videos. I'm watching and enjoying it over and over. I'm beginner in the clay shooting field and just started learning from you. I have a question to you if I may. So, will 71cm berrel hit the target at the same shooting limit distance that 76 cm barrel has? For example, if there is 60m limit for shooting 76cm berral, will it be possible to hit the same target on the same distance with 71cm barrel?

A shotgun with a 71 cm barrel is capable of breaking any target that can be broken with a 76 cm or 81 cm barrel given that the chokes and loads used are equivalent. The great majority of shooters today prefer the longer barrels because they give you a longer sighting plane and can be moved more fluidly than a shorter barreled gun. The shorter barreled gun might give you a slight advantage on short, quick presentations with narrow break windows, but you would sacrifice some precision on the very long birds. You mentioned a limit of 60 meters. I participated in the competition depicted in the above video and I can guarantee you that many, many of the targets thrown were well beyond 60m! Take a look at the second target of Layout 3 post 2, even George Digweed can't believe he hit this target on the single. He misses it on the pair, however. I would estimate that it was close to 100 meters away, and it was a mini. At one point, a rain shower blew through, and I watched this clay target literally disappear into the clouds at one point during its flight. A few people did hit it, however, proving it was possible. A final word on 71 cm barrels. Since they are not popular at this time, their resale value is much less than that of a gun with longer pipes.

@@joewilkins8248 Joe, thank you for such a clear, profecional explanation. Now I know that gun I'm keeping and as long as we do not have super sporting in my country I'm from, I will keep my 71 cm berral shotgun and keep shooting skeet and compak sporting with it. Thank you Joe again for clear answer. I hope that my Beretta 692, 71cm berrel wil work for compak sporting and skeet. :)

The reason I have asked you this question is that Ihave just bought Beretta 692 with 71cm barrel and wanted to know if it was possible to hit targets on long distances.
