If you thought that west jet operating flights from Vancouver to Orlando was weird, they even operate flights from Regina to Orlando! Amazing video eye trapper! 😉
Great view at 3:00 when you were tracking that Nav Canada Airlines. You have the perfect spot whether your your capturing landings or departure's, real nice views. Ok, call me dumb but what was the deal with the Nav Canada plane at 11:00 and several other places throughout the video doing fly bye's? Never mind, I just saw the "Multiple ILS Tests & Checks. Another great lineup of aircraft eye trapper. Thank you again for the time you spend putting these video's together man, hope you have a great weekend.
Your title is misleading... There's nothing rare about the departures themselves, just the position you filmed them from/runway used. Something along the lines of "EXTREMELY RARE North Runway Departures at YVR" would make more sense
I still think it’s interesting how props like Q400 at 23:36 are larger than jets like the various CRJ-200s here. Because normally it’s the other way around... but truth be stranger than fiction as Mark Twain said it!
This NAV Canada blog post explains what their two CRJ flight inspection aircraft do. blog.navcanada.ca/onboard-the-nav-canada-dash-8-for-its-final-flight-inspection/ They do the same thing every few months at dozens of airports and at the many other navaids (VORs etc.) that aren't always located at airports. That post focuses on their Dash 8-100 which was retired earlier this year after 33 years doing that job. Some photos of their other CRJ (not the one in the video) after being repainted in the current livery last year. blog.navcanada.ca/fia-gallery/
That NavCanada pilot was surely having some fun up there. Very nice compilation of these departures, a pitty that they don't use this RWY for deps that often.

Not sure where the extremely rare stunning departures were... but I always loved this as a kid. Went to the airport and end of the runway many times. We used to call it a picnic.
This was a GREAT video. I know that there was zoom involved, but it still looks like YOU are crazy close. This airport is perfect for spotting. Thank you.
Nice change of pace, Trapper. Usually you focus mainly on arrivals so this is a nice, new perspective. As usual great quality vids, and fine editing. Send more. Henderson, Nevada loves your stuff.
At first didn't know what that plane was but soon found out I like that plane, and the pilot is really good. So basically Its similar to what the US calls spotter planes. taking test for runway conditions and air
23:54 very ironic registration right there lol... misspelt Westjet and it has no scimitars :0

Yes finally a departure video! Thanks eye trapper!
😁
Nice! Takeoffs are rare on your channel!
Thanks, indeed they are due to not many good locations for departures
Awesome video! Nice to get such a close up view of the takeoffs. Thanks, NavCanada!
thank you, NavCanada for the win!
What is "extremely rare" is the absence of rain although it looked like the humidity was high.
Great video 👍 awesome AC 787

Looked like a safe take off to me.
I hope Boeing gets the Dash 8 recertified.

Great footage, but what is so EXTREMELY RARE?

Why is the BOMBARDIER Aircraft with the NAV on its tail and side flying over the runway? Is it a military Navy jet???
It belongs to Navigation Canada
