Another Scottish guy here. Living and working abroad for a while is something everybody should do. I lived and worked in Germany for a few years in my late 20s after uni and it’s such a growing up experience. Immersion in another country, language and culture really changes your ideas about where you come from and what you think you know about the world.
You make Russia and Moscow sound so beautiful and wonderful, Jim. We, the viewers, get to see Moscow through your eyes, Jim, and listen to your impression of what you think of Moscow and Russia. 🇷🇺 Scotland's loss is Russia's gain. Cheers from Canada 🍻 🇨🇦 to you in Russia 🇷🇺 Jim Brown. May you always have good health and happiness in Russia. 😊
Good video Jim. I have recently rekindled my love of Russia after studying the language in my teens. I’m now 64 and have met a wonderful lady through learning the language. We holidayed together recently and I am now in her home town after spending the new year in Moscow. Our intention is to marry and then I will apply to live in Russia as this is where I feel my heart lies. Not just because of my relationship but because I feel that Russia is a beautiful country and is inhabited by warm friendly people who are put first by their leaders and who look after each other. Good luck my friend!
Wonderful video Jim! You definitely made to correct decision to move to Moscow. Its a beautiful city and has endless opportunities. The people are marvelous and your channel has produced a unique look at your life in this fascinating place! Best of luck to you from America! ))
Best way to get to know this town is on a bicycle. Come spring, get on one, alone or join a bike community, and hit the parks and center town bike trails 👍

Really miss RT over here, loved the channel, always had a nice vibe to it. I wish I listened to Max Kiser when bitcoin was $600 dollars. Love your story, I watch your channel and "travels with Russell' all the time. The west is really a hot mess these days, I would stay there.
Loved watching that Jim , and the wee bit Celtic music at the beginning . ' RT ' had the good sense to base their UK H.Q in Edinburgh before being banned for not being another station who must repeat the western script and narrative . ' The New Lanark ' heritage village one of my favourite places in Scotland . All the best Jim , you do Scotland proud . 🏴
New Lanark has a special place in Scottish social history, I've visited it a few times over the years. Both my parents were born in Lanarkshire although they moved east in later life. I am old enough to remember my father working on Christmas day, it wasn't a bank holiday until about 1960, - not that my dad worked in a bank. Scotland had fewest public holidays of all western countries at one point, just 3, Jan1, May and September bank holiday Mondays. The old Soviet Union at the time had 4! Germany, the first country I experienced in the 70s had crazy amounts of holidays, not that I complained.
Love this👌🏻 you explain everything so well and all so interesting . I so want to go to Russia from here in UK but right now it’s quite difficult .Guess I should start learning the language first 😂
Loved this video and great to get the coverage on RT. One tip with ice skating. I initially taught myself many years ago (before taking lessons) ; I noticed all the good skaters were out on the ice towards the middle of the rink and not holding on to the bar on the edge. So I vowed never to hold onto the bar and more. I fell over a few times but nothing serious and within a short period I began to really get the hang of ice skating.
Because over time, the ice deteriorates and becomes uneven, so the skates ride worse and play. And no one skates in the center, so the ice stays dense there longer.
From now on you are going to be considered as a propaganda guy 😁😁 no way a foreigner doesn’t want to leave a “barbarian-wild-aggressor” country. To be serious, I personally would like to sincerely thank you for mentioning the Russian culture as one of the attractions for you. Many foreigners are usually surprised by the clean streets, food and other things like this but rarely come to the culture itself, while leaving in Russia puts you in the cultural context first of all, including the language. I am happy for you and thank you for the approach you told about.✨
Love it mate. Im really happy to see a fellow scot loving life in Moscow and share the same passion i have for the city the people the country. I think most of the west dont realise how amazing a place it really is. Their loss is our gain. Wont be long till me and the family are back again (june-august) 🏴🇷🇺
Jim, you said that you have a bad left knee why don't you check whether your hips are level/even? Get an X-ray of your knee and hips.If the hips aren't even then one leg becomes shorter than the other, and extra pressure and weight is placed on the longer leg, which causes pain and discomfort on the knee of the longer leg.
I trained in Russian Sambo coached by a guy called Vadim Kolganov who stays in glasgow. Met his family and friends. Couldn't meet nicer Russian people. Russians are a very tight community. Very tough people as well. Take no crap.
Great video. I look forward to viewing your videos as they are so informative. Not only from what you say but from the activity surrounding you and in the background. Russia holds a fascination for me. I have been hoodwinked by pro western mainstream media for so long into thinking Russia was a back water if not a backwards country. These videos help dispel that narrative and have given me a totally different perspective. If I was a younger man I would like very much to visit Russia but at 71 time’s getting on and, if I’m going to be completely honest, the language barrier is probably what worries me most.
It's in your best interests to learn at least the colloquial language of any country you would like to move to as Scottish guy in Moscow has pointed out.
One of the reason is that in Moscow everything is very cheap compared to GB. So one of the profit is more comfortable life and higher level of living. Minus is cold 🥶 climate from December till March.
