Never saw this show before. Played it for my students while I was getting art projects ready....... I about cried my eyes out in front of my students. My Mom was a marine while I was growing up, and she worked special operations. So she was constantly gone to places I didn't and still don't know of. When she would come home we'd only get a couple days with her before she was called in for another mission. Even when she was told she was going to get a month or so of leave, they would bring her back in before the week was up.
I am and always have been more proud than anyone of my mother. And I love her even more for her service, and all the amazing things that made her an amazing marine. However, I remember feeling this way alot, exactly this way. Luckily, very luckily, my mother did finally come home for good.

The feels are strong with this one.
You know I realized something. Both of Naomi's songs are "I want" songs which are sung by every Disney princess. Elena's songs on the other hand are "I am and I will" this makes Elena unique for me. And why I love the series. Naomi brings the familiarity of a typical Disney princess while Elena is her own type of princess. Also, am I the only one now that thinks Naomi is basically the girl version of Jim Hawkins from Treasure Planet?

Naomi and Jim are really different though.... I mean Naomi never went on any big adventure like Jim did. And we haven't seen what her childhood on the sea was like, so it's hard to see the similarities. And Jim is pretty rebellious and inventive, which Naomi is not. But a point about their similarities could be made for her song Something Special. They both seek acceptance and validation from others. So I guess I can see similarities, but I wouldn't go as far as saying she's the girl version of his character. They're still quite different.
Her family history from what I’ve gathered from this song (I haven’t watched the series) reminds me a lot of the Count of Monte Cristo if Edmond hadn’t gotten thrown in prison and if all the characters were the opposite gender. Her mom is Edmond Dantès, her dad is Mercédès, and she would be their child if they had ended up together

my brother was literally watching this episode today. I don't even watch the show. but this song was so good I had to hunt it down.😂
I am totally for Elena and Naomi having a duet, the two play well off of each other with Naomi being a little higher in pitch then Elena but both having more of a soft tone to them.
I love the song beautiful melody and stuff Oh it really gets me.

this song held a deeper meaning for me, i was born in Florida and for a long long time i lived in New York. For so long I've longed to tell my family 'i'm coming home for good" so when i heard this song i sang with it and my dream has finally come true i'm finally home for good

This is a nice song and a nicely animated segment. There seems to be more details in this segment than others in this show. My daughter has an obsession with this show.

Who else thinks that those words have a double meaning to Elena as she sings them?The way I see it, if on one side Elena is harmonizing with her friend to cheer her up, on the other she's very melancholic because unlike Naomi's her mother is never coming back

What year does the show even take place in?
This was similar for me my dad used to word with border patrol and after a while when Obama became president my dad had to find a new job he found it with the same company he worked for before and is home for good now more which is great because he has stage 4 kidney cancer no he won't die it just spread to inbetween his lungs which make ot stage 4.
I think someone may be lacking a camera cause all those pictures look hand drawn...and really well done xD
In Sofia the First which is in the same universe as Elena they only have hand painted pictures as well, even the press paints their pictures. I think this may be in a time before cameras. Since Isabelle invents things that are somewhat like modern technology but aren't as advanced yet.
Elena of Avalor and Sofia the First are set some time in the early 1900s as in STF they have bicycles and have used a car in one of the more recent episodes
