This is a Croatian folk song, Percival did not steal it from anybody.
he didnt credit it aswell
FOLK song...
@@Meshuggah5 Hahahah, you can't credit nor steal a folk song or music... HAHAHAHAH
@@Meshuggah5 they didnt steal it. They made remixes of old folksongs for their games, the witcher series, using only the lyrics. The rest is basically self made with instruments and vocals. So no, the original band doesnt need credits because this is not the original band's song
I am sorry... Language is more Slovenian then Croatian.... More belongs to Bela Krajina....
Slavs will always stay by each other! Greetings from Czech Republic 🇨🇿
Slavic folk music is one of the best things I've ever heard!
When I was young, during camp, we were left to wonder through a water citadel like city (Dubrovnik like, not sure if it was precisely that though?) in Croatia. I was with a friend. We wondered through the lit streets until we ran into some of our tutors who were having some wine in a tavern - it was literally a tavern in stone, half under the ground, with men singing in Croatian, accompanying themselves with guitars. They were just buddies singing, not interprets hired by the tavern or smth. It was magical. Our tutors were having red wine in shot-like glasses, with local made cheese and bread. The air smelled like the sea and the light was coming mostly from candles. That memory has stayed with me to this day - and hearing this song brings back some of the magic of that night.
Something like this? Music is called "Klapa". This song is literally called "Guitar and a glass of wine". watch?v=rLNKFNRHONI
Must've felt like a real life fantasy world moment
They were in konoba
Thank you for sharing this memory. I can feel the atmosphere.
the instruments are absolutely perfect in this version, but what i love is the "aj! Jo-di-lo-lej! Ta-ra-lo-di-lo-di-le-ej" part that girls sing in the croatian version
There are actually 3 Novigrads in Croatia.
Actually 4 - istarski, zadarski, podravski, na Dobri
I'd actually be more impressed if there was no place named "New Town" in Croatia
In Bosnia there is a Novi Grad too hahahaha
I LIVE IN ONE RAHHH

This song is on Central-čakavian ikavian dialect of Čakavian language which is spoken in areas around the city of Rijeka known as Kvarner region. Where I live people speak Northernčakavian ekavian dialect, but I also understand Central-čakavian.
Here are the lyrics with translation to English:
Oj divojko, jabuko rumena
(Oi girl, ruddy as an apple)
Parih da te ma naranča rodila
(I reckon that orange gave birth to you)
Nije mene naranča rodila
(The orange didn't gave birth to me)
Za goru me mat moja rodila
(I was born for the hills by my mother)
Bura mi je ziparinka bila
(Northern wind was my cradle)
Zipjuć me je va more stavjala
(She cradled me into the sea)
Mornari me va mrižu lovili
(Sailors caught me in a net)
Prodali me biloj Katarini
(They sold me to the white Catherine)
Katarina dobra žena bila
(Catherine was a good woman)
Ka je mene mabilu odgojila
(Who raised me lovably)
Z bilim kruhom i crljenim vinom
(With white bread and red wine)
🇭🇷 Ⱂⱁⰸⰴⱃⰰⰲ ⰻⰸ Ⱈⱃⰲⰰⱅⱄⰽⰵ 🇭🇷
great translation,
Just 2 things important for context
Za goru me mat moja rodila should be translated as "Behind the hill" as it alludes to her being born in secrecy, probably out of wedlock or some similar case.
And Zipjuc me je va more stavljala has the correct translation, but it would be "He cradled me into the sea" as 'Bura' is a feminine noun in the Croatian language, but wind is a masculine one in English.
The whole song itself is about a beautiful red/orange haired lady who was an orphan that got found by sailors in the sea after which they promptly gave her to Katarina (presumably Kotromanic) who then proceeded to raise the girl.
Also there are a few more possible meanings in the song.
Women with red/orange hair were associated with bad omens/witchcraft in older days which could be a reason for her abandonment.
This also could be referenced in the verse "kad je mene ma vilu odgojila"
(Since she raised me, a fae)
Alluding to the fact that Katarina was a good woman since she accepted and raised her instead of shunning her like her mother even though there are bad myths linked to her hair colour.
And "s bilim kruhom i crljenim vinom" (with white bread and red wine) could point to the fact that Katarina Kosaca spent the late period of her life and until her death in a female only catholic temple. As white bread and red wine is heavily linked to the Catholic Eucharist

Man I love the Eastern European songs like this. Probably due to how amazing the language and instruments sound like
Man, Witcher really made me interested in such cultures like this
You are welcome.
A more precise term for what you like would probably be slavic music/language. Because not all slavs are eastern european, this song for example is croatian, and croatia is like south central europe. Ps i think slavs will be happy that you and other people are interested in them, it is not something we are used to
Grigori Jefimovič Fact is, we (Slavs) are brothers/sisters, no matter where our nations are located. Don’t let my German username irritate you. I see myself as a pole and it‘s hard to say but I don’t care about Germany. Only 3 years and I leave Germany to Poland, to my family.
@@Anonymous-or2nz yes, agreed. I don't mind your german username lol. I like germanic people because they are germanic, love the nords because they are what they are, love the latin peoples because they are latinos, love the hybrids who are proud of all their parts, love all europeans who are still being themselves. It is cool if you are a german-slav hybrid, try using the best of both worlds instead of worst 🤣
Grigori Jefimovič Germany will be always a part of my life, pretty much all my friends are Germans and they are good friends. I’m not only Germanic-Slav hybrid but romanic too because my father is the grandson of a Spaniard. I still like the Slavs more than any other
And I’m proud to be 50 or more % Slav. My friends even say that I act more as a pole than a German. I’m proud of it.
I've heard this Croatian folk song in quite a few versions. This is definitely one of the best.
original version which is mix of electronic and ethno music is actually best, mostly cause they don't sing with foreign accent but in original
I prefer Percival versions to a lot of others even though their accent can be quite off. They make the rhythm so good, more like the rhythms of old compared to other versions of songs (i mean the traditional songs in general)
