To experienced beekeepers, installing a nucleus hive of bees is straightforward, but for a beginner beekeeper, it can be intimidating. We show you the step-by-step way we recommend beginners install their nucleus hive.

Why wouldn’t you just shake the bees into the frames? The queen could have been in that pile you threw at the entrance. Not the way I would do that.
Picking up in car? Grab a small knit laundry bag for less than $3 to bag you nuc. Your welcome.
When I opened up my NUCs about 2 weeks ago, the bees were all over the top and inside and flying all around me. Tons more than you show.
Picking up 2 nucs from you 3/25…can’t wait to get back to bee keeping. Just moved back to AL from Ohio where we had bees there. Roll Tide
You didn't mention checker boarding. To get the bees to use all frames. Also when you add a deep. You need to bring a frame of brood up to encourage the muse bees to use the new box.
Picked up my Nuc this morning from y’all in Birmingham. Everything went easy and smooth, no problems. The nuc was placed in a netting sack and I put it secure in back of my suv and drove about 40 minutes back home. I watched this video several times before picking up my bees and I’m happy I did so. I will be doing more business with them in the future I’m sure. 👍
Stop using "rule of thumb" saying please.
How do I ensure the queen doesn't fly away? I'll see you Saturday!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing I'm starting to build my first hive after a 20 year break from them. I'm excited to get back into it.
This is the most helpful video that I have found. You covered almost all of the things that I was wondering about and made it easy to understand with the pop ups. Great job!
Thank you for putting up such a clear and easy to follow instruction for a first time beginner bed keeper! Great video!
Watched a bunch of NUC installation videos tonight and this one was the best I found - thanks!

Thank you for being informative but most importantly straight to the point. Waiting on the call to pick up my first Nuc!

This is a great video - thank you! If I have a hive from a previous colony that didn’t survive the winter, do I need to do anything differently to install a new nuc? Do I still need to provide 1:1 sugar water or is the honey in the hive enough (1 medium box about 60% honey)?
