Love how accurate it was presented unlike other history books which are false, but I would like to add the fact that Rajah Humabon was solely responsible for the Battle of Mactan because the people of Mactan led by Datu Lapulapu were common pirates within the area, Lapulapu didn't seem to care about this, some speculate that he allowed this to happen and would personally order his men to raid ships and steal from other native karakoas, this angered Rajah Humabon and asked Magellan to defeat Datu Lapulapu, Magellan refused the backup offered by Rajah Humabon thinking that they were more powerful but quickly regretted after being killed in the battle. Thank you for this accurate piece of history!

another thing is that both side had guns, we Filipinos had the rentaka/lantaka hand cannons, and also both sides had armor, only that the spaniards had metal armor, while the Filipinos most likely had leather scale armor, and splint mail.

Are you joking? Magellan was there cause humabon on the first place cause he wanted to build relations by helping him but he got played they didnt try to help him and his remaining crew member got poisoned by their native "allies" lapu lapu wasnt even on the actual battle itself. Contrary to popular belief people aint suicidal back then either magellan thought there werent that many soldiers he would fight or he thought that his native "allies" would help him.

at first Datu Lapu Lapu pay rent fee for Rajah Homabon but Homabon started to increase the rent and ask more spoils, since the Chinese and Muslim Traders have a good relationship with Lapu Lapu and prosper.. Rajah Homabon dominates a large portion of Cebu but Lapu Lapu has ties with the 5 kingdoms in the philippines and lapu lapu refuse to give Rajah Homabon that access.. its more of political intrigues rather than just a simple feud since there are other chieftains that Homabon still cannoy control and powerful Sultans who has ties with the Ming Dynasty in China and Brunei Sultanates and Java Kingdoms.. Homabon doesn't have the man-power nor the proper political connection that is why he needed Magellan.

One interesting thing about this event is, Filipino warriors at that time has a tradition of owning a "war trophy" by decapitating the legs and arms of the corpse of its enemies, leaving only its head attached to the body.. the surviving men of Magellan beg for the body of their captain, thru Humabon, for a proper christian burial, but Lapu-Lapu refused.

The Spaniards even had cannons, muskets, and other modern weapons of the time. Unfortunately stupid Magellan didn't use his advantage in numbers. What do want Lapu Lapu to do? Gather only 100 men against Rajah Humabon's tens of thousands of warriors? IDIOT! Bro there's no social media in their times but believe me the message spread fast by words of mouth. That's how the whole islands won against the Spaniards in 1898. Same in WW II. Each islands fought hard against the Japanese and some islands send some warriors to the other islands to help get rid of the invaders. The reason why the natives lost because of the weapons. Machete/arrows against guns. If there is a will there's a way. That blood of Lapu lapu is in the heart of every Filipinos. China should think a million times before occupying the islands.

Sorry to tell the truth, but during the battle of mactan, it wasn't a battle of spanish and Filipinos, but the battle between Filipinos themselves with the forces of lapulapu against humabon's. When magellan arrived there, they were only 200+ men due to shipwrecks and mutinies along the venture, so when the battle began the 200 spaniards were in the middle ranks while the Filipinos were killing each other. You see, killing and betraying each other has been in the blood of filipinos long before the Spanish occupation. As gen. Luna said, the greatest enemies of filipinos are Filipinos themselves. 😢

I personally think that Magellan's positioning caused him this battle and his life. Remember that when coming from the waters and approaching land is already hard enough, now think about doing the same while wearing armor and carrying equipment. And Lapu Lapu has a strong position because he's in land, and I personally believed that he properly positioned his infantry and ranged units.
Rather than engaging directly, coming from your ship to land, he should have found some land to settle in, encamped there, then engaged in daytime.
Now, I don't think that the Filipino army is "stupid" and "barbaric" who just charge in like maniacs. I personally believe they have battle formations. It's when Magellan was struck that they broke formation and charged at him.
