  • This video is inspired by Romeo & Juliet. A play not about love, but about hate and pride.
The lessons from this play are very relevant today.
    Thanks so much for watching!

I love your thoughts on this... I agree with them being each other's symbolic representation of a desire. maybe the hope for a resolution in their already turbulent home...or a hope for freedom found in being with one another.

omg i commented before finishing the video... and you speak of the same idea. this is very interesting... it's even more theatrical than it just being about forbidden love.... they needed their parents to see their pain. to witness it, to acknowledge it... they are teenagers after all.

Ah yes, exactly! Oh, you summed it up so perfectly - yes, they are teenagers and all teenagers need their parents to feel their pain! They both wanted to be free of their families, but of course, in a way that embodied the familiar animosity/angst teenagers hold for their parents (that many of us understand). They yearn to be understood, yet it takes such dramatics to achieve this -and in the minds of all teenagers, the same is true (do the extreme, break the rules etc.)
Thank you for that take, I feel as though I skimmed the surface of this topic and now you have me thinking!

Thank you for sharing your idea, it’s quite inspiring. The notion that Shakespeare is conveying that an unforgettable love is born from love at first sight and the connection between hearts is sparked by appearance. Also as you mentioned what is the meaning behind the ‘love’ itself … is so interesting!
