I’ve always wanted to do this route. Mijin is an amazing lake and so is gami.. world class fishing & crystal clear waters! (And only an hour from my front door!) Good to know the route is do-able! Cheers 🍻 thanks for the awesome videos
Ohmigosh- more years ago than I want to admit, I canoed the Anjigami during time spent up near Wawa (Kabenung Lake) as a camp counselor. So much portaging and bushwhacking, though I am fairly sure we did not cover your area at all. Also, Michipicoten, Shikwamkwa, Chapleau and a few other rivers and river chains. This brought back such memories.
Almost hard to watch at this point in the year. Looking through a digital window into spring---peepers, bugs, canoe squeaking over seasonal wetlands, soft water, shorts & T---I find it hard to care about anything else. Drop me somewhere wild with my kit and canoe in May, and my life will be completely full. Cannot wait.
Ah I know! Going through footage and listening to the peepers!!! Who knew you could miss a sound so much?! It's the time of year when I start getting the unnerving itch to go paddle....
I found your video when I was trying to find out how to pronounce Mijinemungshing (bit of a failure there LOL) but great to see some real exploration of LSPP's interior.
Brad, more than 40 years ago I canoed much of this route, which was then not as overgrown as it is now. We did pronounce this an-jig-uh-mee, sort of like Temagami. I know we began at Mijinemungshang Lake, but my recollection goes soft after that. :-) This must have been a heck of route for you and I am sort of jealous. :-)
thunderingbear777 Thanks!! Yeah, I don't film 'too much' during my outings. My focus is usually on the moment.I also take a ton of photos too. I'm moving a lot during the day, so it's hard to film when the kilometers are ticking by. I have a backlog of a dozen shorter vids still in the edit bin, but for 2018 I may try and dedicate a little more time to keeping the shutter open. We have a couple multi-week expeditions planned so you can be sure those will be on the longer side. Should be at least three 15-30min vids coming out this spring if I get the time to finish the edits.
@@brianve7jyd943 North Water Paddle Sports is BC based. They do our spray deck and barrel harness in the newer videos. Not sure on a barrel company out there, but you can order from MEC.
Thanks Cam! I've got some longer ones in the works (+20mins). See what the final run-time is. Hoping to get those out before paddling season kicks off. Length really depends on editing and available footage. I have a backlog of 15-20 videos, most of them have minimal footage. I've been dedicating more time to filming on recent trips and we'll see what 2018 brings!
Thanks Henry! Lake Superior Provincial Park is 120km on hwy 17 north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. It's a big park! About 90km of hwy 17 run through it. Gorgeous drive, one of the best in Ontario hands down!
Did you catch any fish? I hope to haul out my 17-ft aluminum canoe and take my 16-year old to LSPP this summer. Not sure where exactly. I'd like to catch some nice specks. I admire your adventurous spirit. Great vid!!
Thanks! Unfortunately I got skunked on this trip.... ran into another party near Old Woman lake who had a good haul. The interior generally has excellent spring trout fishing.
Apparently, someone camped on the island (no official site) and their campfire went out of control and burned a good chunk. We went through just as the final passes of the water bomber were occurring. Too far away to capture on video.

You shorts, T-shirt hat
Lea long pants., jacket, hoodie and bug net and still by far my favorite canoeing explorers! Thanks for sharing

I hope to canoe these lakes next year. Thank you for your informative and very interesting video.
You should! Have fun! Just don't try the river.....

Great adventure. Your wife/girl friend is a real trooper
Ah that she is! She's slogged through everything with me! :D

Hey, I enjoy your canoe trips and subscribed to your channel.Cheers!
Hey thanks 😁😁
Always love your vids!
Thanks Matt! Another one is coming tomorrow! :D
I agree with Cam- longer videos. There are 45 min + videos out there getting watched. You have a good eye and a great narrator's voice.

n impressive beauty & a real pioneer route Thanks for bringing me . Brian 77
Thanks for coming along Brian!
Mi-je-ne-mung-shing beautiful lake
Ha, it's a tricky one to pronounce!! Broken down is a lot easier for sure! Gorgeous corner of the park!
What are the details of your canoe? Model material etc. Love the vid.
Your videos are great, you should do some longer format ones too - I could watch hours of these kind of trips

Explore The Backcountry I’m excited!
You didn’t comment about the smoke at the end? A campfire that spread?
Could be
That looks like a great trip. Where is the park entrance. I've never heard of it before!

At the 1:55 mark my son asked me what those were. Was that two young moose (meese) 😉or two caribou?
Yeah it was a pair of moose. I've yet to see caribou in this province, they're highly elusive creatures. I've only ever seen them in Quebec.
great route! other than that last part that is hahaha
Aha, yeah that was a different adventure entirely! Really got to see the 'wild side' of the park.
Nice route. Beautiful country. Was that smoke at the end of the video a brush fire or a camp fire?
Apparently, someone camped on the island (no official site) and their campfire went out of control and burned a good chunk. We went through just as the final passes of the water bomber were occurring. Too far away to capture on video.
Was that a hot springs on that island
No hot springs in the park unfortunately! That would be super cool though!!

I liked it. Although I could have been the first dislike.
This is not funny. It’s dangerous and illegal!
Wrong video?
