Tried a wig wag this weekend, didn’t come out anywhere near what I was going for! Lol, going to keep trying. Love your channel and your videos, you are seriously talented!
Thanks so much Zalia! I have found that really is all in the folds being as close to the same size as possible and lining up the design on both sides of the shirt. If you nail those the only thing left to do is saturate well enough and it’ll work for you too my friend!😊💜
Another fun and fantastic dye from Riah! Thank you for this, and all the others you've done over the year. Please have a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year!
That is beautiful! I hope that the people that surround you know just how lucky they are to be friends and love such a creative person with such artistic talent! You are truly one in 1 million. Thanks for sharing again and I will try to send you some Stainglass pics.
@@RiahsTieDye thanks so much for your reply. Your creations are beautiful. I'm new to this and watching your videos I'm learning a lot. Looking forward to my 1st try 😊🙏🏾
Great saturation. I hate it when I drip dye… especially on a time consuming wig wag. Makes me want to throw it at the wall! You can’t hardly see the spots. The colors you chose keep the eye busy. I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas. Be well, Riah. Thanks for all you do. 🥰❤️🌈
Thanks Steph and Merry Christmas to you too! Fortunately I’ve done so many of these that they only take me about 15 minutes to Tie and dye so they’re not to bad. I can definitely relate when it comes to the more advanced Tie dye projects such as 16 point mandala tapestries where you leave white in them as part of the design. Wait until you start doing those! Talk about drip dye feelings😁
Hello! Love the pattern. Can we pre-fold and soak the shirts and then store in a plastic baggie for dying the next day? We have kiddos that we want to dye with, but want to do all the prep work ahead of time for them. Thanks!
Damn, your colors must be really good to get such good coverage. I only used cheap kits from amazon so far and always have HUGE, WAST amounts of white space left If I don't really go into the folds of the shirt with the bottles (The amount is usually not enough for that). But it´s still fun 😊
HI Riah, I love your work and I have a question. After you applied the dye you let the shirt dry for 24 hours - what happens after that? is there another step to "set" the dye (hand rinse under cold water) so that when I machine wash with other clothes the dye doesn't fade or bleed? Thank you so much, keep up the great work!
Hi! So after the 24 hours you rinse starting with cold water to remove the soda ash and then increase to warm/hot while squeezing the material to remove the excess dye and until the water runs clear. Then I wash by itself for the first time in hot water on a regular cycle with Synthrapol detergent if you have it but if not dawn dish liquid works too. I hope this helps😊💜🧡
WoW! that is so brilliant! Where do you get all the lovely colours from please? I would love to try and do this, but don't know where to purchase these dies. Thank you! Francie X
@Riahs Tie Dye Thank you for prompt reply & thank you for teaching everybody your talent it truly is brilliant are you in the UK? Kind Regards Francie.
Nice! Wat is the best dye? I have bought dies at the craft store and have done the soda ash thing but I can never get the color super vibrant🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Hi! I love youre art!!!!!!, is it really necessary to put the clothes on soda ash 20 min before u iniciate the procedure? Or can you do everything without that? Is it bad if I don't put clothes in soda ash before starting tie die? Or is it okay to sprinkle some water make it humid and then start?
Hi! So the soda ash is a vital step in the process. The soda ash raises the PH of the shirt and allows the chemical bond of the dye to the material. Without the soda ash the dye would wash out of the material and not bond with the fibers. If you don't soak in soda ash you can always apply it at the end after the piece is dyed. This is called the Pariah method. Also you can mix soda ash in with your dye powders as well but and do it that way but it definitely is a must. Even all of the tie dye kits you buy in the store have it mixed in with the dye powders. I hope this helps😊💜
Could you tell me the best place to purchase dyes I'm thinking about starting out but know know where or how to begin, Thank you! And love your videos!
