This is a popular and beautiful anchorage at Lake George. With less than 4 ft. draft you can enter the creek with some caution. Different from the St. Johns River the water is crystal clear. It is amazing to snorcle above the big spring. But it is also interesting to wade to the smaller springs in the forest.
In May 2023 I was sailing with my Gemini 105MC catamaran NIRVANA from Jacksonville / Florida up the St. Johns River. The first obstacle was the fixed bridge (45 ft) near Green Cove Springs. At low tide it is no problem to pass it. Only the flexible antenna scratched the bottom of the bridge. A bigger problem was the White Hair bridge. Principially high enough, but in 2023 there was construction work and some parts were less than 46 ft. My tricolour lamp fell down...
In the summer hurricane season I leave my boat in the Indiantown Marina near Lake Okeechobee. In winter I am sailing in the Bahamas. My favourite islands are the Exumas.
