Ady I just gotta tell you as a long time Star Wars fan (an original viewer in theaters as a kid back in the 70's) that my family and I are very grateful for all the work you're putting into this and the years it's taken since beginning this journey, and thank you for taking us all along with you for the ride. I know you can't answer or comment on every comment but in the off chance you see this I just wanted to say Thank You. May the Force Be with You and your entire family.
I see you corrected the timing of the wipe between Death Star and Tatooine too. I could never unsee Jerjerrod slowing down to a halt right before the cut. The longer pauze also seems more dramatic before he turns, as if he is contemplating his next move a bit before getting back to business. Really neat.
I watched Light & Magic on streaming, a few days ago. You should be added to their roster of who makes Star Wars a timeless experience. Your work is stunning.
"We shall double our efforts" Translation: We shall ignore safty protocols and only install one power regulator on the main reactor. More time will be saved by removing components of the sub light drives allowing for greater access to the main reactor.
The original shot when R2 and 3PO arrive at Jabba's, the camera moves, now it is static with a slight change in appearance and looks far better, great job!
The camera moving in that shot was a special edition change. The reason for reverting it is that the camera moving reveals a much larger door that doesn't at all match the size of the interior space behind it.
The door shot was originally static; a digital matte painting was used in later releases to extend the size of the door (probably to give an impression of how big the palace was supposed to be), but the larger door doesn't match the size of the entrance seen when the door opens. I think there's a reverse angle right after this video cuts off, which also shows the smaller door. So it's understandable Adywan wanted to keep the original shot for continuity purposes.
I always preferred the bluish coloration of the tie-fighter filming miniatures to the light grey they appear like in the final grade, I'm so glad you gave them the chance they deserve!
My favorite improvement is the more defined reflection of the overhead lighting on the hangar deckplates. It just adds to the overall clean look of the entire shot.
I have and still rave about your work since STAR WARS PUREST and REVISTED. Incredible. No offense to all others but always felt you deserved more recognition than all the others. And have turned many on to people who did not know about your work and dedication. I am still freaked right the hell out of your REVISTED STAR WARS When C3-PO Exits Lukes Hut at night when lookign for R2, and then enters screen right in perfect timing. AMAZING. And that's nothing compared to all the other things you did. Great Job. Thanks. - Toronto, Canada.
My point is at that one of watching you will not notice anything this time only little difference that’s doesn’t blow your mind away, again in the future they will again increase what ever is done!
If you’re going to use the 2011 Blu-Ray as the source for most of A New Hope: Revisited HD, then please don’t forget to fix the error where Mark Hamill can be seen standing in a small room on the right side of the shot right before Owen calls Luke's name, after Luke had already left early in the morning to find R2. It wasn't fixed until the 4K version, and you didn't fix it in the SD version of ANH:R.
Beautiful work. I don't understand why Lucasfilms or ILM (or Industrial Light and Magic) doesn't hire you to work on stuff like this. You are incredibly talented. Few on earth can do this.
You do spectacular work, I am so looking forward to your RotJ being released. You cover the little thing few would notice, but then add things which should have been there all along ( like in TESB the Walker deploying troops). The battle of Endor is the one section I really want to see- the B-Wings will finally get some screen time!
Vader is in focus! First time I've ever seen that! What technique did you use? Not quite as sharp as I would like, but it's definitely an improvement. You can see how clear and sharp it should be in the 3rd shot. It's so nice to see accurate colors, even the matte paintings look much more real when they look right. I noticed you also restored Jerjerrod turning with the timing of the original cut.
I like what you did with the skin tones. I can't help but think there would be some sort of blue kick from the Forest Moon's oceans up to the orbiting Star Destroyers. Also your Tie Fighters kept the same blue instead of the grey of the shuttle and other Star Destroyers and that seemed out of place to me. Colour grading is very subjective, looks like a massive job and I don't envy you. Keep up the fight for the Theatrical Release in 4K!
Jerjerrod is walking in fast but there's already a ton of people waiting in formation. He's gotta be thinking "Why am I always the last person to be told Vader is arriving??"
No wonder construction is behind schedule, every time a VIP boards the station everybody drops what they’re doing and stands in formation in the shuttle hangar.
The R colour grade looks so much better. The gray on the star destroyer looks so much better much more definition with the shadows. Also more colour saturation with the faces. The fans always do a better job than the official cut.
I love that Vaders shuttle is leaving from 3 Star Destroyers to approach one of the most secret & heavily guarded locations in the Empire,& he still gets an escort of 2 Tie fighters.
During the final battle at one point you can see a rebel blockade runner seemingly floating by a frigate and a star destroyer. Are you going to remove that.
Interesting, I could see the removal of the blue color grading in some shots but in other shots, blue tint was added (like the TIEs and the Death Star hangar exterior), why was that? And I remember reading a changelog that mentions that the tunic of the Imperials in the Death Star was changed from standard Imperial Navy Officer olive green to grey, is this meant to allude to the Death Star officials in Rogue One?
Wow. Vader gets TWO whole Tie Fighters as escort, while his partner in Sith Evil, Emperor Palpy gets literally the ENTIRE STAR FLEET. That's some SERIOUS disrespect going on there. Should have ranked at least a squadron of Tie Fighters. What if the Rebels had picked that very moment to launch an attack? Vader would have been toast. No wonder he was just looking for a reason to '86 Palpy first chance he got... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've got one question, what happened to this: "Replace the shot of the Star Destroyer going overhead with a shot of the shuttle coming from the Executor." You only changed the colours, but the official page says you were going to change the ship from an Imperator to the Executor.
They were blue in 1983, they were blue in 1997. It's only because of the terrible grading done since 2004 that so much of the original colouring has been lost
@@adywanuk Adywan can you please remaster recolor and put back in AT LEAST the og opening with Vader and Luke communicating through the force cause it adds darkness and dimension to the film esp after Empire Strikes Backs tone and even the shots and directing are reminiscent of it and esp sets up the tone for the film better even if you don't include the shot of Luke igniting the saber which I want please add this scene!!!!!!

Well now this is a fine piece of work, it really puts George Lucas to shame. By the way, at what point is the 1080p version of a new hope? The trench run video from December said that video editing is done, what about audio?
It's playing back jerky throughout the video on both sources. It looks like RUclips have screwed up the framerate. I just downloaded the video direct from here and youtube have changed the framerate from the original 23.976fps to 23fps. So its basically removing 1 frame every second. It's perfectly smooth on the original source i uploaded
Vader not only lands in a smaller hanger than the emperor, obviously, but he lands in the smallest hanger of the five presented. Hilarious. Return of the Jedi is my least favorite of the originals but its still full of great storytelling.
Revisited color grade is definitely more how I remember ROTJ in theaters when I saw it as a kid in 1983!
How do you even remember that vs the 97 theater releases and the VHS or the VHS THX editions. It all blends in my head.

The Star destroyer hangar looks so great as the Lambda class shuttle descends. Shows how much better the color grading is. Good job Adywan.

There is a continuety error at 1:14 - 1:16. First shot has 5 hangars, the second only 4. The one to the far right is missing.
Well done. You even managed to make the artificial ambient light at the Jabba door scene look more natural merely by brightening the scene.
Looks amazing! Sad that the “official” release was done so poorly. Thanks Adywan!!

Theres so much detail lost in the blacks in the BluRay. The revisited version looks SO good..

Actually, the static shot IS the original shot.

The SD going overhead can be repurposed for the space battle as tie bombers swarm like locusts, out of its massive hanger.
The Star Destroyers look a much more natural grey rather than a weird glowing blue. 😎

I don't know if I like the blue hue or the gray hue better. Is that weird?
I noticed on the Star Destroyers and ships that in the blu ray they are..well..blue tinted. but in the color corrected they are grey as should be.
I'm a bit puzzled as to why the TIE Fighters are so... blue now.
This is great. Though I'm surprised you didn't want to keep that Jabba's door establishing shot....
Because that would make the door too big compared to the shot where they’re entering inside.
