I decided to react to the official clips from Vidbir, so everyone will be equally appreciated.
@@milareactstoeurovision The official video shows Ingrid handing a swastika amulet to a soldier. In that moment she hands it over, the scene switches from the pagan/viking arrangement to a cameo appearance of fighters from the ultra nationalist/fascist AZOW-bataillion (3rd assault brigade), driving an armored personell carrier through a battlefield. Up to the day this brigade is commaned by a rascist and ulta nationalist person and uses black-suns and other SS-symbols for their offical insignia on platoon levels.
In addition to this meaningful symbolism and backgrounds, the song lyrics by itsself can be interpreted as a reduction of women to their very traditional and conservative roles: They appear only as mothers, daughthers and brides, while their men are out fighting. The song does so, instead of recognizing that women also actively take part in the fighting on sides of ukrainian armed forces.
All in all, this song and its presentation are full of right-wing dogwhistles and it is a shame, for political culture of Ukraine and Europe that a song like that was up for the ukrainian selection for ESC whith nobody protesting it.
