I worked in clinics, doctor offices, optometrists, pharmacies for about 7 years. With my experience I got a job in local government and now I’m about to start my bachelors in sociology. Friendly reminder that most, if not all, non-freelance art jobs (aka working with various companies as a visual artist) requires some type of design/art BFA. You’re probably thinking of freelance art. Also, a lot of colleges set you up with internships/jobs/networking opportunities once you graduate with your BFA. :)
If you're highly unorganized, don't prioritize your top activities and say yes to every request your friends/bf-gf/family ask you. Then of course you won't have any time. As a mining engineer student, I struggled horribly the first two semesters, since then I read a bunch of book on productivity and now, it's incredible how much time I have available to "rejuvenate" and relax since applying of the principles on those books.

A college schedule is so flexible that if you don’t have free time, you’re doing it wrong. I can go to the gym in the middle of the day and drink on weekdays.

This field is very low paying. Even with a Bachelor's degree. Also, it can be very stressful, with parental expectations, toxic work environments and incompetent management. Some childcare centers are nice and modern. Others are old and run down. I've worked at centers with very serious insect and rodent infestations. I've also witnessed many incidents of child neglect and abuse at the hands of teachers/care givers. Also, there is an extremely high turnover rate in this field.
I would like to clarify something as someone who has her degree in education. It’s not completely false that you can major in something else and get a teaching job. But it isn’t as easy as just passing the state licensing exams. Most states won’t grant you a teaching licenses unless you have gone through an edu prep program (so education courses, clinical work, and student teaching). Some states even require a masters before you can head into the field. There are programs to start teaching without your licenses if you have a degree in the related subject. However, you will usually get a provisional licenses where you will have to complete an ed prep program alongside teaching within a certain number of years. I love teaching and I do agree that getting a very specific education degree can be limiting. However, I do want to prepare anyone who is considering making the transition to teaching.
very unfortunate that in order to be deemed valuable and make money you must major in something that is profitable in your future rather than choosing something you are passionate about.

It's not a stable industry and it can be competitive with co-werkers. The beauty industry has also taken a huge hit with COVID and lots of things are changing. What exactly where you looking to do? I got my cosmetology license back in 2011 and I have worked in skincare, spas, hair salons, and in makeup/beauty retail. I'm currently back in school to work in the health care industry.
What you said about Education is not true. You not only have to pass certification , but you must also take certain Education courses. Teachers in NYC salaries start off in the 50's and can go up to 100.
5:04 while my biggest passion is learning about the criminal justice system, every source I heard from - from various criminal justice career path cites to police officers I met in person - state that criminal justice is a worthless major. It’s not a required degree in policing, it’s doesn’t make one stick out when applying to be a police officer, and it can only be used in a criminal justice setting so if you become handicapped your degree is unusable. I almost majored in criminal justice but made the smart choice of majoring in something practical instead.
This is correct, maybe what I said wasn't clear enough. Health education majors in general are for teaching health. Never mentioned what athletic trainers do, but I know a few people who went into that and they enjoy it

I wouldn't fully rely on this video. It's resourceful but not 100 percent accurate. In every field, there are low and high-end jobs. I'm not a criminal justice major but I received my master's in forensic psychology and you can make anywhere from 60k-200k a year with that type of degree. It all depends on the city you work in and the work experience you have. I would agree though with if you already know the career path and job you want and if it doesn't require a B.A. or M.S. then don't do it. It will save you time and money in the long run.
Oh and what wasn't mentioned in this video is the career ladder and different occupations within each field. Entry-level jobs can be 60K but if you want to move up the ladder and become a probation/forensics supervisor, manager, or director in a large city that's where you get paid good money. Anything is possible.
So I’m thinking of getting my bachelors in public health (most likely focus on nutrition) and then doing masters in psychology. Would you suggest me continuing with my maters in public health or would it be fine since it is better getting a psych masters instead of getting it as a bachelors degree?
