I love your videos but I must say I do not think it was a wise decision putting the Brahma instead of the Rhode Island red or New Hampshire bromas take too long to grow by the time they make weight the meat is tough
nice video I have had some of these breeds I still have Plymouth Rock but honestly given the time it takes some of these to mature you should have put Turkens buckeyes Rhode Island Reds on here I keep them and couldn't be happier.
I raise Naked Necks (turkens) as well. Amazing birds and one of four breeds that are naturally disease resistant. In tests they outperform both commercial layers and broilers in adverse temperature conditions and are so stable they are used as control subjects in most research. They dress as a beautiful table bird and lay brown eggs that grade out extra large most times.
I was surprised White Leghorns, Road Island Reds, or New Hampshire Reds weren't on the list most of the chicks as in rare can be ordered off chicken sites like Stromberg I'm a proponent of cross-breading my chickens so I want good egg color, broodiness, good meat, and size, free range, hardiness in temperature and disease. It takes time do but is worth it
Yes it's worth it and the more you mix them up them they become more accustomed to your area and more disease-resistant it's all around a win-win situation let them Birds mix-up
@@ProfitableAgribusinessIdeas yeah, in Australia I can't get most of those chicken breeds. Australorps can be hard to find in my area of Central Queensland. When they do show up, people pounce on them. Show breeders have ruined their fertility, so people are crossing them into Rhode Island Red to created neurotic creatures that eat their eggs if they don't get everything exactly the way they want it. I have Wyandotte, Sussex and Isa brown as well as the Australorp hybrids.
The bielefelder and the bresse are far better than any on this list. Building a new coop just for bielefelders. I would think crossing the bielefelder with the bresse would make the best dual purpose chicken ever? Just my opinion. The bresse are probably a little better than the bielefelders, but I can't stand white chickens 😅😂🤣
@@ProfitableAgribusinessIdeas Are you kidding? You have birds that mature in 26 weeks. lol The Buff can be harvested as early as 16 weeks and I'd say no more than 22. The average for a dual purpose bird is 18.
@@ProfitableAgribusinessIdeas very well keep laying in the winter months. And have very deep red meat whit awesome flavor for chicken soup and very good breed.Bresse and Bielefelders for auto sexing is my favorite two!🐓🐓🐓
i just saw very good chicken breeds, if you come to vietnam you can check out vietnamese Dong Tao chicken breed sure you will be amazed by that, thanks
Isa browns are not duel purpose chickens. They are there to pump out as many eggs as possible in the shortest period of time with minimal input from feed.
If all of these chickens that you're talking about are so good why are the majority of them rare meaning hard to find they can't be that good if they're hard To find
Trudy - The issue of "best breed" vs "rarity" is a result of commercial vs backyard production. Commercial producers pick the breed that is most prolific with egg production while being tolerant of confinement. Those breeds are going to be very common. Backyard producers look for other and different factors. Egg production is one, yes. Meat production is another. After that, backyard producers look for the things they consider important - such as free range ability. Backyard producers also need at least some broodiness, or the particular breed will start to disappear. While a commercial breed may be fine as a backyard breed, an excellent backyard breed may be quite rare just because few backyard producers know about them, and commercial producers have other choices that are better for them.
I believed the reason why this breed is rare because of too much consume for eggs and meat because this kinds of breed has a good natural meat flavor and delicious eggs good also. There is possibility that they dont have enough time to breed. And maybe there has always a lot of order That is why this breed is rare
Negros would be a great place to start. a man was importing different breeds of chickens there about 5 years ago. i know he sold some of the locals breeding stock.

Bresse looks like the white Leghorn which is common in the Philippines. 🇵🇭
Problem with this list is that many of the breeds are rare. So, they could be hard to find and,/or expensive.
I've just seen a bunch of chicken breeds I can't get in my area, not even Australorp is easy to find and I'm in Australia.
sorry, you are saying in Australia you don't have?
I live in Idaho USA and the black Austrolops are so far the best overall chicken I've had.
