I was reading a interview done with Ryan Clark, lead singer. He was saying this song was about the day he dies he wants people not to feel sorrow for him but to feel sorrow for those that do not know Christ and haven't accepted salvation. As the line in the song says "Save sorrow for the souls in doubt."
A classic DH song from their 4th album Storm the Gates of Hell (2007), and according to Wikipedia the deluxe album as a whole "was nominated for a Dove Award for Recorded Music Packaging of the Year at the 40th GMA Dove Awards" in 2009. Also according to Wikipedia this was the last album to feature Don Clark (rhythm guitar, DH co-founder and lead singer Ryan's brother) and Ethan Luck (lead guitar, lap steel guitar). For the song itself (which also has a piano and a resurrected version) I personally think it's a pretty good song and one I sometimes go back to from time to time. While it probably won't win any awards on its own and is obviously not for everyone you can't really go wrong with more laid-back/subdued song like this in-between more heavy stuff, which I think this band does a good job of balancing.
To get the full picture of the band Demon Hunter you have to listen and binge on every album. Every album is gonna be extremely different on many levels. You can't just have a level of expectation for every song you hear from this band in particular. Please do more Demon Hunter I love your videos and love to hear your opinion.
Although this one turned out to not be one of your favorites from them I SO appreciate you taking the time to revisit the band. I've heard it for years (as its one of their much older tracks), but after my brother died suddenly this song was a balm for me in the grief process.
My wife walked down the aisle to the piano version of this song. I honestly don’t think there is one Demon Hunter Ballad I don’t like. The somber and emotional tone that show themselves through the lyrics, paired with the music itself, just pulls me in every time. Ryan’s cleans are just incredible imo, that definitely helps. Deteriorate I think is my favorite ballad of theirs.
Alright, more Demon Hunter! I always knew the big DH in the corner stood for Demon Hunter lol! I completely understand your score, this is a good ballad to me but definitely not as great as other ballads of theirs like I Am A Stone. I don't think I've ever seen you give any song a 2 or 3 before, guess you haven't reacted to Cardi B before lol?!
this song is very emotional, lyric-wise. and the video is dark yet hopeful. middle of the road for me as well, not terrible by ANY means, but not their best, I agree. look forward to seeing more of them on this channel. two questions for you DH, 1. are there any songs that make you emotional or teary-eyed when hearing them? (either first time or every time) and 2. do you ever listen to songs people request to you in person, or is it only online requests? like, if somebody walked up to you and said, "hey, you gotta hear this song!" and handed you an ear-pod or something. does it disqualify the song for the channel?
I don't think I've ever heard this band before. This song sounds like it could be from the 90's. It's a nice filler song - definitely not a bad song. I would be open to hearing more from these guys. Now to check David's channel for more!

Love this song, Ryan's voice is incredible

Classic from early Demon Hunter. Early 2000's
Fair score for sure!

I've given a few....I've even given a couple of 0's. I use the entire scoring scale.

You can check another reactions about this band from this channel, they are Christian band you see reference like this song about god
Probably my favorite song by them, but probably more because of the subject matter and dark feel.
......big tune.......😊
This is the song I want played at my funeral.
they have several mellow/slower tunes
Godforsaken, Trying Times leading into Jesus Wept, and Crucifix are must hears
This was ok
Imo "Heart Of A Graveyard" and "Gasoline" are the 2 best songs from Demon Hunter.
