you should look into buying a vacuum tank for the resin before you pour. they are relatively cheap (maybe 150€ with pump and chamber). it will evacuate any air bubbles from the resin before you pour. VERY helpful to me and works great
I replyed earlyer on a similar comment. For this project i let the air bubbles intentionaly, because you get a better efect when the light hits the bubbles then having a clear epoxy. I do have a vacum instalation and if you look on my other projects you will see the difference. Thanks for the info.
oh right on! good to hear. yes i know what you mean, I've done a few projects with intentional air bubbles, i even used an e cig juice injector needle to pump in some more. great work though! really really nice!
Ha! Looking at the title card, I thought this would be a good project to leave the air bubbles, it really does feel like it needs to be flipped though. I see why it has to be this way since the light is from the bottom. Really awesome project!
Will anyone tell me. What does the black liquid and bright liquid poured in it name? And can I use something likes a thick woods to the other side to make the shape rather thn those blocks of woods? 1st time watching your video. I luv this creation very much. This creation of yours is d best I've ever seen. I hope you can make more craft something like this or even better. Can't wait for your next creation.
I always mute the crappy music on videos like this. I don't know why people can't just talk through what they're doing instead of playing that shitty music.
Beautiful lamp! But the bright green button on the bottom takes away from the simplicity of the design. If the button was on the back or the side it would not pull the eye away from the art.
This is great. I have just started making clear/resin molds using objects (like shells, glass, other things). I'm curious, what have you found to be the best method of sanding and polishing edges to ensure it's as glossy as the natural resin so it has a polished look? Do you use a super fine sandpaper, then just buff it? Thanks in advance.
Truly fantastic job!!!! Curious what kind of epoxy you use? I've been using Alumilite for a couple of years, casting various projects that I turn on the lathe, but I haven't dabbled with epoxy resins much. Thanks much!!!!
Thanks for the apreciation! I am using izocor series, its produced in Romania. I have also a couple of year since i am working with it. It’s great when using on wood.
*watches a tone of epoxy vids* 'i wanna make stuff..' *makes krappy epoxy shot glasses full of bubbles and not properly mixed with coloring agent and not really fit for any thing.*,*looks at magic moss forest with LED light*,... *Looks at unusable shot glasses*....."Yay! I made a stuff!"
I use a sonic vibrator (same thing they use for cleaning, just modified it a bit) It makes it even better to be honest but there are many ways to get a great final product. Just keep trying and find your own style Ash.
Awesome art piece. What is the material your workbench is covered in, where you place the mold on top of...plexiglass? The resin does not stick to the plexiglass?
Hello and thanks for the apreciation. The frame of the mold is made if mdf and the inside of the mold (the mold actualy) is plexyglass. The resin dosent stick on plexyglass or any polypropilane material (slabs, stickers, etc) or sylicone.
Thanks. So... the bottom of the mold (the table top) is plexiglass. And, are you saying you also line the MDF sides of the mold with plexiglass?... do i understand that correctly?
So: the bottom is plexyglass. The sides are mdf with plexy sticked on mdf with double sticky tape. The mdf on the bottom has double sticky tape and is stycked on the plexy. After that on the outside of the mold i use hot glue gun or sylicon to double seal so i get no leacks (this is more like an extra safety measure). Thats all.
What is it with people on RUclips who do resin art, and bloody awful monotonous music ? Damn, I swear this must be the fourth video in a row I watched with no sound because I could't stand listening to it. But that's a lovey piece of handy craft al the same. I really like it. Also wish you'd include text on the video to explain what you're doing a bit more (what's that green stuff you used for the trees, for instance ?), and why not show the finished product lit-up in the dark so we could see the effect ? Anyways, loved your work all the same. Very nice and imaginative piece of art.
You are susceptible to law suits using any artist's music; most music that is made for videos is really crappy. Maybe someone knows of a place where better music can be played without paying an arm or leg.
Thanks! It is live moss. I let it live intentionaly so during the 24h cure of the resin it will creat air bubbles in it. The efect obtained when the light hits the air bubbles is more spectacular for me rather having a clear epoxy layer.
SegWood Design try peacock moss, flame moss, christmas moss.. Or other aquatic plants that many variations u can put.. It will be beautifully epic.. Trust me, im aquascaper

The look of the lamp is very proffesional and classy, nice one, usually i dont like blue epoxy work, but your green is awesome in clear epoxy
Very cool. It reminds me of the cliff the karate kid had to retrieve the bonsai tree off of in the original movie.
Beautiful and super creative! 👍👍👍

Beautiful. The side lighting is very clever, makes it look like a real landscaoe.

At 5:35, look at it sideways. If you rotate the next one onto its left edge, you'll have a forest :-)
FlowZone1 Tiffany I see this too...
FlowZone1 Tiffany
I thought it was meant to be a forest scene until he turned it. Needs to get his bubbles out more though.
I thought so, too, about the bubbles, except he explained elsewhere that he likes the bubbles, it's why he used live moss instead of fake :-)
FlowZone1 Tiffany that's what I saw

It looks like it should be sitting with the wood side down.
Drill some holes in wood and put LEDs.
Not really. By putting the wood side down you'll lose the transparent area for light. After all this is a lamp.
Then put the light bar on top
Yes, no one is going to look at this without thinking “the hill landscape with trees is laying on its side.

try yorkshire grit original abrasive paste, and the yorkshire grit microfine microfine www.woodsleesummercraft.ca/product-category/yorkshire-grit/
Short answer: Yes.
Use 150 grit sandpaper once, then finish with 220 grit, you should get a nice uniform coat before you put the finish to it.
Amazing idea , beautifully done
make another one, cut it in 1/2 attaching light to each side and make book ends. love the design though.
