    you should look into buying a vacuum tank for the resin before you pour. they are relatively cheap (maybe 150€ with pump and chamber). it will evacuate any air bubbles from the resin before you pour. VERY helpful to me and works great

    • @segwood1211
      @segwood1211  6 лет назад +5

      I replyed earlyer on a similar comment. For this project i let the air bubbles intentionaly, because you get a better efect when the light hits the bubbles then having a clear epoxy.
      I do have a vacum instalation and if you look on my other projects you will see the difference.
      Thanks for the info.

    • @flipnap2112

      oh right on! good to hear. yes i know what you mean, I've done a few projects with intentional air bubbles, i even used an e cig juice injector needle to pump in some more. great work though! really really nice!

    • @ilovefunnyamv2nd
      @ilovefunnyamv2nd 6 лет назад

      Ha! Looking at the title card, I thought this would be a good project to leave the air bubbles, it really does feel like it needs to be flipped though. I see why it has to be this way since the light is from the bottom. Really awesome project!

    This is great. I have just started making clear/resin molds using objects (like shells, glass, other things). I'm curious, what have you found to be the best method of sanding and polishing edges to ensure it's as glossy as the natural resin so it has a polished look? Do you use a super fine sandpaper, then just buff it? Thanks in advance.

    Awesome art piece. What is the material your workbench is covered in, where you place the mold on top of...plexiglass? The resin does not stick to the plexiglass?

    • @segwood1211
      @segwood1211  6 лет назад +22

      Hello and thanks for the apreciation.
      The frame of the mold is made if mdf and the inside of the mold (the mold actualy) is plexyglass.
      The resin dosent stick on plexyglass or any polypropilane material (slabs, stickers, etc) or sylicone.

    • @RossNanfito
      @RossNanfito 6 лет назад +2

      Thanks. So... the bottom of the mold (the table top) is plexiglass.
      And, are you saying you also line the MDF sides of the mold with plexiglass?... do i understand that correctly?

    • @segwood1211
      @segwood1211  6 лет назад +29

      So: the bottom is plexyglass. The sides are mdf with plexy sticked on mdf with double sticky tape. The mdf on the bottom has double sticky tape and is stycked on the plexy. After that on the outside of the mold i use hot glue gun or sylicon to double seal so i get no leacks (this is more like an extra safety measure). Thats all.

    What is it with people on RUclips who do resin art, and bloody awful monotonous music ? Damn, I swear this must be the fourth video in a row I watched with no sound because I could't stand listening to it. But that's a lovey piece of handy craft al the same. I really like it. Also wish you'd include text on the video to explain what you're doing a bit more (what's that green stuff you used for the trees, for instance ?), and why not show the finished product lit-up in the dark so we could see the effect ? Anyways, loved your work all the same. Very nice and imaginative piece of art.

      Why do you feel the need to advocate for the music in every single comment that complains about it?
      You even told a guy to "go kill himself". I mean, wtf?!
      Are you the composer or something?
      Btw, just because (you think) you have good "concentration" & can handle that -noise- music, it doesn't mean that *it's not a shitty piece of music!*

      First of all this youtuber has never talked in any of his videos. Some of his videos doesn't have any audio/music to it.
      You are those type people who try to constantly demotivate people by any means possible, never knowing the possible reality. The youtuber might be not good in video editing, doesn't know what music everybody likes, how to operate a computer, somebody else might be editing for him, he might have hearing problem(he should not, not supposed to say that), you just go straight in conclusion. Only because (You Think) that youtuber must and must be perfect in everything, to feed you perfect content, so he must leave his point of interest (of making art pieces) and go to do courses about what music you people like and "YOU" giving "useful Advice" to make video "even better". The video is already best in delivering its content properly.
      Its my problem that I get emotional everytime supporting someone.
      Let him make the video as he wants. What if he never show what he has.
      BTW that person wanted to kill himself, not me telling him to do so. (read his comment)( I was joking as he too was)
