How to make paper PARROT 🦜| Blue and gold MACAW | DIY paper mache crafts

- Hello! In this video I'm making paper mache blue and gold macaw. It's base is made of newspapers. Wire is used to connect legs and make claws. I made head a little bigger then it should be. So if you're going to make a parrot yourself use real parrots photos as a reference, not mine. Feathers are made of colorful paper. Some parts I hand painted by myself with acrylic paint. Eyes are made using half pearls. I used nail polish and acrylic paint for coloring and coted with 'glossy accents' medium.
TIP: Before you start to glue feathers you should check parrots balance. If it is falling (because upper body is much heavier then the bottom) then you can cut off some layers in the back and take out some newspaper near the head to made upper body lighter. Then put back upper layers that you've cut off and glue all together.

Impressive! How long did it take? Thinking about making a paper crow for halloween with a similar technique.
Quite long this one. It's not small. And I fainted some feathers... and had other issues 😀 but I made a pigeon once, that one went quite fast. It had one color and was small 😉

That first piece of cardboard I've got with my Ikea furniture 😄 it really doesn't matter to use exactly the same. You can put smaller cardboard pieces together to start the base

Is this for beginner's? Coz I'm a beginner and would like to try it
If you want to make bird I would recommend to start from a smaller species like dove. I have tutorial how I made dove. With parrot I used same technique just it is much bigger, colorful and face has more details so it will be harder if you are making it for the first time. I also recommend using pictures of real birds as a reference 😉

I don't know it came with the IKEA furniture. I just reuse what I have.
