Trying to get into SEO and finding the BrightLocal channel such a valuable resource. Many thanks to Claire and Amanda for this live session. I've just watched the recording and been scribbling like a madman.
How do service area business listings on GBP rank in comparison to GBP listings with a physical address? Will the GBP listing with a physical address rank higher in the map pack BECAUSE it has a physical address? How do you compete with these businesses as a service area business?
Hey Kathleen, this is a really great question. We have a Facebook group with lots of active users who are very helpful in answering questions; you might be best to ask the question there. facebook.com/groups/thelocalpack/
Regarding the use of stock photos, the posts are *hardly* the worst place to use them. On occasions I've seen the same stock photo image used to represent two businesses in the finder results!
Hi. Two thoughts. First, Google knows when it's a stock photo because it'll find the same photo on other places. And GBP is all about local services (not worldwide, cf the 'proximity' criterium). Second, (conversion factor) the prospects would rather like to identify with something that feels 'real' & 'authentic'. Stock photos are much more like a stereotype/cliché because they want to be the image of the 'ideal' xyz. It has become easier to make good pics with phones and cameras. There is a lot of software that can help improving images. Good luck.
