  • TopRC Odyssey 2.3 metre / 91 inch TURBINE SPORT JET for EXPERT RC PILOTS
    AVAILABLE HERE: www.toprcmodel-usa.com/odysse...
The Odyssey Sport RC turbine jet is a full composite airframe completed in a beautiful paint scheme. The Odyssey jet offers top notch quality with outstanding performance. The Odyssey is the mainstay in the TopRC lineup of turbine powered RC jets. This is a cutting edge Sport Jet. Top access for wing retention and turbine access with no belly pan. Affordably priced electric landing gear with integrated brakes.
The owner/pilot told me that this Odyssey had a JetsMunt 140 turbine installed with the power dialled back to a 120 newtons! Great performance from such a large sport jet.
Filmed by Dom Mitchell for the 'Essential RC' RUclips channel at Hastings MFC using the Panasonic AG-UX180 Pro 4K camcorder.

Great flight and video Dom, but have to say the noise being made by that gasser meant I had to turn the sound off which meant of course not being able to hear the jet in flight. I note that the jet pilot gave the gasser pilot a dirty look right at the end of the video, and who could blame him!

Yeah, I understand that. It's a serious issue for jet pilots and gas dedicated pilots don't always appreciate it. Jet pilots do need to know if the engine flames out based on what they are hearing. They need to know instantly so can calculate glide and deadstick landing. The other guy was just testing his engine...not even planning on flying so it wasn't the most thoughtful of things to do. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

Why is that in almost every Jet video there's always an anoying piston popper making noise in the background lol! Nice flying by the way👍🏻

This was an especially annoying occasion when that happened. It definitely irritated the jet pilot. I don't think the other guy understood that it's quite important to hear the engine. If you get a deadstick with a jet you need to know immediately.

@@EssentialRC too often.... gassers mostly tune their carbs and fly as little as possible, warbirds especially :) and jets on other hand flip the throttle stick and ECU starts by its own and takes care of everything.
why someone cant wait for 5mins for jet to come down..I don't know.
but that realistic jet sound maybe makes some of them jealous so they want to ruin the party a bit, and start cranking the 2 stroke coffe grinders in pit area

Great Video Dom, shame about the two stokes in the background

I've always thought it's a bad idea for that to happen from a safety perspective. In the event of a dead stick situation it really does make it a lot more difficult for the jet pilot to hear a flame out happen and act quickly. I think a lot of gasser pilots just aren't aware how important it is when flying jets. In the same situation I would ask my caller to stroll over and make a polite request to stop the engine. Suspect they would do it if they understood the problem it causes.

Makes me mad when the gasssers have to run there motors while filming

Unfortunate but happens. It was a club event and I was lucky to have the opportunity to film it. If I had seen the gasser start-up I could have moved down the other end of the strip. I'll be more observant in future. Another jet vid coming tomorrow...fairly sure no engines running in the background on that one. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

I viewed so as to watch & listen to the jet. NOT that primitive piston gasser engine! 😡
