I can guarantee every single person watching will have started singing along the moment those builders 👷♂️ in their van 🛻 appeared. "Will it be chips or jacket spuds... " "Chips it's chips, We hope it's chips it's chips!" 😁
Been doing this at work with another guy at work for YEARS, if theres a lull in conversation, we'll do a line from it, resulting in us doing the whole jingle [Also 'Shake and vac' ]
Like the other comments, the Birds Eye Steakhouse song has remained in memory all these years and I can still repeat it word for word - great collection Steve. 👍🏼😉
ahh Brian Wilde. I've gotten back into re-watching LAST OF THE SUMMER WINE recently. a show I inexplicably loved as a kid (maybe because it's a show about old men acting like kids?) and am enjoying as an old man meself now, for exactly the same reason :D
The worlds CLEANEST [Cricket jumper ?] builders, been quoting this this at work with another guy at work for YEARS, if theres a lull in conversation, we'll do a line from it, resulting in us doing the whole jingle [Also 'Shake and vac' ] "What will you give your old man with his Steakhouse grills ?"
Remember everyone. Great British averts, we had some great adds. Wonder if M J watched the danish bacon add for his inspiration for smooth criminal ha ha, love your reference to back to the future on the telly box.
I've never seen an ad for lamb in the US. I think it must be rather rarely eaten in the US, but I know it's in the meat department of grocery stores. For a few decades, Viennetta wasn't sold in the US. By the time it came back, I had thought I imagined it as a kid. I'm always surprised by the Bird's Eye ads here because they don't sell anything in the US other than frozen vegetables.
I've been surprised a few times by the diversification of different brands. I only recently discovered that Colgate (the toothpaste company) used to produce ready meals.
Also one of the few products that still tastes as good as it originally did. I have to add - "in my humble opinion" - as I know Pot Noodle is a love it or hate it situation, like Marmite. I love them, me.
0:33 Frankie Howard doing the voiceover at the end of the HP advert. 9:06 is that Giles Brandrith in the potato waffles advert? 11:36 I remember those cakes, they were delicious. 0:44 you wouldn’t get that these days, Pervy butter men. Great advert though. 3:36 what on earth is Pot Casserole? 7:10 I found the califotnian raisins a bit freaky. Great selection as ever, a real tonic on a Friday evening.
I remember buying an Entermann's American cake once. It was the stikiest object in the world. Tasted nice, but I'm pretty sure it's inside my arteries to this day, just waiting to pounce and claim another cardiac arrest victim. I know, it's my fault.
Reminds me a bit of those really expensive Krispy Kreme donuts. So sticky. Nice, but too many of those'll put you in an early grave (and break your bank account too).
Really like the ads that were just for staple foods - cheddar, NZ lamb, apples. Yes, they were promoting sales, but they were also promoting simple, good quality eating. I never got to sample the pleasures (?) of Ketchips. But my favourite ad's got to be Sun-Maid. Who doesn't love dancing raisins?
Guessing kids burning themselves on hot ketchup, there where these mini deep pan pizza things I remember as a kid and the centers would get volcano HOT [Didn't see them around long]

The memory of that Birds Eye Steak House Grills theme has somehow survived 35+ years
I still hope it's chips.
🎶 We chase the girls and pinch their buns 🎶 😂😂😂
lol .. bit naughty, but of its time. 😂
Another scrumptious video in the books, well done Steve
I hope its chips its chips 😀 Love all this old stuff great work
Always hope it's chips. These days though, I hope it's triple-cooked chips! Mmmm
ahh Brian Wilde.

'Tis a good show, though.
Always look forward to your posts. Thx!

Well, thanks for watching. Makes it all worthwhile. 🙂

Great adverts of course some were shown in Ireland & worldwide too.
France, Germany, perhaps even Malta.
@@RetroSteveUK Bisto Onion Gravy Granules of course.
Kippling still playing with is bells 🤔🤔 happy new year sir

BTTF reference .. had to be done! 👍

Danish Bacon advert on thee ship was Andrew Paul P.C Quinnan from The Bill
Yeah, I recognised him too. 🙂
Also, the longevity of Pot Noodles is noteworthy, considering how many well-known products that were staples for many years have fallen by the wayside
Also one of the few products that still tastes as good as it originally did. I have to add - "in my humble opinion" - as I know Pot Noodle is a love it or hate it situation, like Marmite. I love them, me.
Wish it still had the artificial flavours!
And right off the bat it's wildly inappropriate. Love it.
This is the way.

Great selection as ever, a real tonic on a Friday evening.
I also do not remember Pot Casserole being a thing. Must've been very short-lived. Sounds rough. And yes that was unmistakably Giles Brandreth.
@@RetroSteveUK I just about remember Pot Rice but they didn't seem all that filling compared to a Noodle [So prob died on sales]

8:34 ketchip ad Kellie Bright .. eastender etc
Yeah, I remember when she was on Strictly with Kevin Clifton. A very likable lass.
I remember everyone of these ads, I don't know why because I was an 80s child and always outside with my mates.
"Cos you had to come in for your tea.
@london19657 I think we had tea at 530 pm. So I would have watched children's TV then eat then I would go the shops and to hang about with my mates.
Like the 88mph on the Tv and the Flux Capacitor and DMC nice touch , Back To The Future 👍 Great memories great Adverts ✌️✌️👍👍❤️
Gotta come inside and watch TV at some point. 📺

My memory of the Sun Maid Raisins ads is thinking that plain raisins were boring, but the adverts were good.
The California Raisins, as they were called in the US, were in a number of TV ads for things. :)
KETCHIPS? ugh.
I like ketchup. Those look rank, though.
When Venetia used to be a long slab not a lil brick it is now!
Why did that end potato with kepdup in the middle!? 😮 I'd of loved that as a kid
I never tried Ketchips originally, but I do remember them, and I vaguely remember not liking the idea. I loved ketchup though, and still do.
@RetroSteveUK might be a good idea then aaaa the pain as ketchup heated up mhm yeah much like brandston pickle heated up hot and painful
Guessing kids burning themselves on hot ketchup, there where these mini deep pan pizza things I remember as a kid and the centers would get volcano HOT [Didn't see them around long]
@kumachan9311 pizza are like that now burns your mouth but yeah I remember those
NZ lamb... French apples
should be buying British
I guess it was easier to trade abroad back then. Bit of an issue now, sadly.
