      Yeah, who cares how someone pronounced it just as long as it tastes good
      So many regional dialects out there, yet random words like this one become famous for no reason

    PEE-can the English word was borrowed from French pecane. The French word is a gallicization of the Algonquin word for the nut and it was pronounced most closely to PEE-can.
    All that being said, language should be descriptive not prescriptive. If a pronunciation is commonly used and the meaning is apparent then the pronunciation is correct.
