A.C.E member Byeongkwan's wearing fem clothes and as a group they are really brave. They've put more make up often in their selfies, Donghun was wear a long skirt for a photoshoot, they've made debut with hotpants(whick is most of people wrote hate comments about all of them) But like i said they are really brave, in my opinion. And they're talented too. I think they deserve better about their music careers but unfortunately they're little bit underrated :")

I would love to add choi chanhee from the boyz and his beautiful fashion sense plus his opinion about toxic masculinity. eric from the same group, being open about loving the color pink with his whole heart. he mentioned that on live tv on weekly idol. the host did not had it much, so he said it cleary into the camera, that pink is a manly color. and also kim hongjoong from ateez for his creating of unisex fashion/ clothing, added with glitter, pearls, flowers and butterflies, him being extremely open about this theme and even asked the stylists to wear a skirt on stage so that the stylists got him some. he also wore it on the concept photo as far I remember. plus I need to say I *love* chanhees style! I could give him stuff out of my closet and he would wear it better then me!
I often see these videos and people usually talk about guys breaking gender norms but I want to see girls also doing that. Also, I challenge people to find a list of kpop idols breaking gender norms and there are two females on the list. I only ever see Amber. Like seriously get diverse. I'm not trying to tear down the creator of this video, I'm just trying to point out that a lot of males are praised for doing these things and a lot of females get overlooked.
well i shouldve titled it males who break gender norms thats my fault completely! I went into this video with the idea of ONLY including men with plans on making a part two featuring only women. But, i scrapped that idea a couple weeks after uploading this. Amber and Miya are the only female that i know of who break gender norms, not including some chinese trainees and actresses, the video would be rather short. I think we don’t see it more frequently in female idols because the stigma around them having to be “dainty, feminine, and just fragile.” Which is bullshit let them be however they want to be. And i hope with the ever growing popularity of women who dress and look like amber/miya that the idols who DO want to dress and look like them will be given the confidence and inspiration to do so

i really appreciate you pointing out idols like Hanse and IMFACT who aren't known by a lot of the general public as breaking gender norms so much as idols like Heechul and Jo Kwon. I'd also like to mention the Son Twins as being fairly open about breaking gender norms. Son Dongmyeong of Onewe and Son Dongju (aka Xion) of Oneus. Both are very open about how there should be absolutely no fear in wearing what you want, styling how you want, both are extremely enthusiastic about makeup and do theirs (and sometime's theirs members makeup and not like just some bb cream but full on shadow, liner, bronzer the works) etc. Dongju has also worn skirts and has proudly stated wanting to be a princess since he was little. For Halloween he solely has dressed as female characters (Snow White one year, Maleficent another year) and really does it in a respectable and never plays it for laughs either. Dongju currently has his hair grown out long for Oneus' most recent comeback and he often styles it more in what would be considered traditionally feminine with flowers, braids, and intricate updos. Dongmyeong often talks about breaking norms about how you shouldn't box people in and also to not box yourself in by labels. Please check out these groups too because they are seriously too wonderful for this world

In case you want to make a part 2 or anyone is interested, I would also like to add boyband Onewe (their Oneus' brother group from the same company). Especially Dongmyeon and CyA regulary paint their nails, Kanghyun's favourite colors are purple and pink, and Dongmyeon is interested in make-up (he does a lot of his own make-up and is pretty good at it!). Overall their fashion is more on the feminine side and they like to wear lots of pretty jewelry as well. There even is a lifestream of them painting each others nails and it's the most wholesome thing ever :)

He also writes a song “Always Difficult Always Beautiful” with Pentagon’s Wooseok, inspired by an episode from Black Mirror series “San Junipero” that tells a story about lesbian couple regardless of age

As a non binary kpop fan I so so appreciate this. And yes Ik non binary people don’t have a specific look, we don’t owe anyone androgyny! However I’m someone who likes to dress in both types of clothes (I usually try wearing masculine clothing though purely for comfort) I wear makeup, I paint my nails, I like to wear the occasional skirt. All is so so appreciated to see idols not give two fucks about gender norms :) I would also like to add that see some mainstream artists also break gender norms! I’ve heard that some BTS members have worn clothes that are ideally ‘for women’, Suga has been seen wearing converse that was made for pride or something etc.
im so happy you liked my video! I went into this video making it as proof orientated as i possibly could. I would never want to give the impression that an idol is gender nonconforming and it be their stylist doing all the work instead. I wanted to make sure that the people in this video (and more coming soon ;) are ALL doing it by themselves. To give trans/nonbinary ect kpop fans ACTUAL representation so they can see themselves in them.
Dunno if I'm biased, but I think SM as a company is somewhat active in breaking the gender norms without being too arguably explicit about it. Love Like Oxygen is a historical moment. Not to mention cross-dressed idols performing Something. They're comfortable taking on pink color as a brand when at that time pink was considered very girly.

He said in a radio program that he hosts, he talked about how clothes, accessories, interest, and hobbies should not be tied to gender. He sometimes go to the woman section when shopping for clothes. He also writes a song “Always Difficult Always Beautiful” with Pentagon’s Wooseok, inspired by an episode from Black Mirror series “San Junipero” that tells a story about lesbian couple regardless of age

thank you i believe the same thing! more videos need to be made like this, thus making viewers accept idols who wanna dress/act a certain way. Hopefully one of them will reach the korean network and if an idol sees one of these breaking gender norm videos and it might give them confidence to start dressing/acting the way the REALLY want too.... and if they do well my job here is done

As a non binary kpop fan I so so appreciate this. And yes Ik non binary people don’t have a specific look, we don’t owe anyone androgyny! However I’m someone who likes to dress in both types of clothes (I usually try wearing masculine clothing though purely for comfort) I wear makeup, I paint my nails, I like to wear the occasional skirt. All is so so appreciated to see idols not give two fucks about gender norms :) I would also like to add that see some mainstream artists also break gender norms! I’ve heard that some BTS members have worn clothes that are ideally ‘for women’, Suga has been seen wearing converse that was made for pride or something etc.

Dunno if I'm biased, but I think SM as a company is somewhat active in breaking the gender norms without being too arguably explicit about it. Love Like Oxygen is a historical moment. Not to mention cross-dressed idols performing Something. They're comfortable taking on pink color as a brand when at that time pink was considered very girly.
