I never seen a vegetable like a radish to only grow 20-30 days on a seed packet, I was like wow today when I saw that at Home Depot. Usually the harvest is usually 60+ days I see on a seed packet. I was like dang I was missing out on growing radishes my whole going on to 29 years! I bought them and planted them in 4 plastic solo cups tonight! I can’t wait to see the end results! I might just make a hobby into just growing only different types of radishes for now on than trying to grow anything else under a led grow light!
This is interesting to watch, especially in comparison to my own radish because mine took a week to germinate, but it started forming a bulb already before they had their first true leaves. And yours germinated within a day and didn't form a bulb until it was already pretty big
This looks so satisfying! Thanks for recording this plant's amazing journey. What grow lights did you use? I mean how many lumens and what color temperature did you use?
I use the LED lights that come with the photography lightbox. I am not sure about color temperature. Probably ~5000+ lumens because it is white not yellow.
@@rapidlapse oh really that’s great to here. We moved to a new house that is super strict about growing stuff and about have gardens and even greenhouses. So I have to grow a lot of stuff indoors but it’s hard to find a good spot. But they do let you raised garden beds but ofc I need a permit in order to get one and I asked my parents about it and they said I would have to wait until late summer which is a bummer but at least I will get one soon. If the HOA is ok with it.
Both before and after. I use Osmocote pellets and I add it on the surface of the soil periodically. The pellets last for 6 months as they slowly decompose into fertilizers.
Did you use gopro to make this video? I also try to make plant timelapse by using gopro. But it seems like out of focus. Can you give me any suggestions?
To sprout faster, put the seeds in between two sheets of paper towel and soak the paper towel with water. Keep adding water on the paper towel every few hours so it doesn’t dry. I usually fold it and seal it in a ziplock bag so that way the water doesn’t evaporate and I don’t have to worry about adding water. This will give you fastest germination time. Once seed germinates transfer to soil. Good luck!
The soil used in this video is from store so it already has fertilizers mixed which works for up to 6 months of growing small plants. I didn’t have to add extra.
Когда редиска начала вытягиваться, нужно было подсыпать земли до розетки листьев. Изначально не нужно землю до самого верха ёмкости, чтобы была возможность добавить. И поливать каждый день или даже 2 раза в день.
True. The container was on the small side and could not hold much water, plus the continuous light and warmth dried the soil quickly. We tried our best and the end result came out fine :)
@@rapidlapse Yep, the end result was impressive. This experiment was educational on the importance of keeping the soil watered for faster bulb growth. This gives me an idea to try something similar with indoor growing and timelapse cam.
Most of the time it is due to over watering, the soil is cold and wet and maybe even starting the root to decay. Move the plant in sun, don’t use plastic closed container where excess water stagnates at bottom with no way to exit. Use terracotta clay pots instead.
I keep it on at all times 24x7 :) It’s not required. You can follow 16-8 (16 hr on, 8 hr off) too. I kept it on because I was filming every minute of its growth.
Some people have suggested continuous exposure to light makes plants grow more leaves faster. That’s why hydroponics farming is suitable for leafy vegetables like lettuce; they grow quick in presence of constant light source. For other plants I don’t think it matters.
The day counter in this particular video started after the seed sprout. It took a few days for seed to sprout which is cut off in this video. Hope that clarifies :)
I felt really sorry for the radish! For awhile there it was being really dehydrated, only just enough water to keep it alive but the leaves were wilting each day, and you could see the soil was still dry in the corners, it wasn't enough water in the pot to wet it completely, but just barely keep it alive. 🥵

Thank you for making this. It gives me an idea on how to grow and harvest radishes. 🙂
It is amazing to see how much energy that radish can capture, enough so to produce a large edible root in such a short time

I think the only radish that takes 60 days to grow is the daikon
This is interesting to watch, especially in comparison to my own radish because mine took a week to germinate, but it started forming a bulb already before they had their first true leaves. And yours germinated within a day and didn't form a bulb until it was already pretty big
Perhaps different types of seed, hence differing growth behavior. Interesting nonetheless. Thanks for sharing!
@@rapidlapse yeah my Radish were also quite a bit smaller than yours
Do you know what kind they were? Mine have been growing for a week, but they're thin and tall.

Mother nature is a beautiful thing
0:46 R.I.P Radish
You can see the bulb swell up every time it gets watered
Nature's gifts, shared with love
Great video. One thing, it's impossible for that seed to grow leaves on its first day, How many days were before it germinated?
The day counter is about a week off on this one. We can expect 4-5 days for the seed to sprout.
Cool I want to grow radish this year
Nice! It's easy to grow them in small containers and they will even grow indoors just fine.

Cool!
Thanks!
great job , did you use fertilizer only one time with soil mixure before you planting ? or i need to add some fertilizer after that ?

When do the flowers sprout?
hey rapid lapse can you do a eggplant time lapse? if you are doing one please tell me so i stay tuned
Oh yes we have that on the list! Currently we have a few other seeds to grow and then we will get to eggplant.
Did you use gopro to make this video? I also try to make plant timelapse by using gopro. But it seems like out of focus. Can you give me any suggestions?
Try with macro lens filter which will let you focus better on objects that are closer. Good luck!
@@rapidlapse thank you so much best of luck you too.
After almost two weeks my radishes are still tiny seedlings. What gives?
Soaking the seed in paper towel for 24 hours prior to planting it helps. Fertility of the soil can be a factor as well.
need alot of nutrient brother
It takes 7 days for the seed to germinate and appear on the soil.
That’s true. In this video the counter starts after germination. Sorry for the confusion.
I just planted French breakfast radishes and they started popping up in 3 days 🤷♀️
What kind of light do you use?
It’s normal led lights.
@@rapidlapse Watts please maybe ppfd?😌
Esa semilla de rabanito nace muy rápido en dia, yo estoy sembrando y van 4 dias y ni señales de echar raices.... cuidado con un fake...😂😂😂😂
It’s not fake. The day counter if off by a week on this video. You can expect 5-7 days for the seed to germinate :)
Hello! I am planting using Radish Seeds for a school project. Do you have any tips to make it sprout less than 1-2 days? Thank you!

Mine just never grew many leaves and then something started eating the leaves and still 60 days in NO radishes. I’m so sad 😢
Wow. Your radish seed sprouted on Day 1? I planted seeds like 5 days ago and they still haven't sprouted. Hmm..
Did they ever sprout? I’m doing a project with radishes and they still haven’t sprouted I’m getting worried
Radish never sprouts on day one 😂

how did it germanite on day 1?
The day counter starts late in this video. Sorry about the confusion.
I am a complete new pie I tried to grow same radish in this video and it grew no bulb :(
Also it took 40 days so far and my experiment is a failure
😢
Me too. My bulb is about 1/8th of an inch wide after about 6 weeks. I dug into the dirt to see if anything was there.
when come to seed if it bought u never know it expire or bad
After day 20 you can notice how quickly the bulb expands with moist soil. It needs continuous drip watering.

Put a poll for which plant to do next, I say do kale
I say do okra
Good idea, we will do that! Summer's here and we have a list of seeds to get through. Should be fun! 😊
I say do Gai Choy

Thank you
You know when a seed sprouts on day one that means the soil is perfect
How come your seed germinated in day 01?
Slight oversight from our part. We started day counter after the germination.
What temperature/light?
Room temperature with LED lights ~5000K. It’s important to ensure the lights being used can emit similar light wavelengths to mimic natural sunlight.

Inaccurate timing. It won’t germinate in 1 day
