    Aldmeri Dominion is Over!
    My next few videos will be as following (in no particular order, whatever I feel like):
    - Mainstory/Coldharbour 100%
    - 1 DLC Zone (voted by members)
    - "First Impressions" + Tierlist video on the AD zones/ESO in general
    - 1 More DLC Zone (If I like the first one a lot. this one is a maybe)
    Thank you all again for your support! Over 350,000 views across my dominion playthrough so far; what an unbelievable achievement!

      I would highly recommend you complete the Mages and Fighters Guild story lines prior to going to Coldharbour. Do them along with your Harbourage missions. It will impact your experience in Coldharbour. In fact, playing things in a certain order impacts dialogue options throughout the game (eg, You'll see Raz a few more times and he will definitely comment on it).

    • @YoItsDoc

      I recommend doing the DLC zones in Chronological order. Interactions from earlier released DLC zones/expansions have Payoffs in zones released later. Also don't forget to do the Prologue quests for the zones before you start them. There are also Standalone dungeons that come before some of the DLC Zones.

      @@jessicahardwick9213 Good to know. I find the quest order in this game really tricky to follow. I prefer to do things in "bursts". From my understanding, since my character is argonian, all my fighters/mages guild stuff is in EP. According to my rules, I can't go there yet. I think when I do that faction, I'll work in those quests; but for now I'd prefer to stick to my own rules just so I don't spoil myself on experiencing those areas for the first time.
      I think hindsight 20/20: I probably would've started in an EP zone and worked in the POI's while doing the main campaigns from the get-go. I have to think about it for sure, but I really appreciate the advice. As a new player it's always nice to get a clear explanation on things I would've totally missed on my own.

      @@YoItsDoc Yes, I've done my research (hopefully) picking zones that are standalone (ish) or the start of major chapters. For example, I know Vardenfell, Clockwork City, & Summerset need to be done in that order. I find ESO does not have a great official guide for story content so I'm left relying on community help.

    • @jessicahardwick9213

      @FrostbreakYT if that's the case, then you won't be able to complete Coldharbour without first completing the Ebonheart Pact storyline (if your toon is EP). You won't be able to properly go to Coldharbour without completing the Harbourage questline

    The grand finale is Coldharbor, each of the main faction stories used to lead you to Coldharbor, and that was the finale of the game

    • @FrostbreakYT
      @FrostbreakYT  2 месяца назад +14

      Are you expected to do Coldharbour 3 times for each faction? Or is it only the finale for aldmeri dominion faction? I can't imagine the game would ask you to do it 3 times but I've only been playing for 2 months so who knows😆

    • @JCrushFitness
      @JCrushFitness 2 месяца назад +31

      @@FrostbreakYT no, Coldharbor was to be done after 1 faction and then after that another faction would open up, but it was framed as “experience the story from another faction” and it would just end and you would be sent to the next faction with a quest. After completing the last faction you would get an achievement and a cosmetic item which I believe you still get once you complete all 3

    • @chryses7565

      @@FrostbreakYT You only need/can do it once. You're just kinda "expected" to remember it for all the other factions if you do their storylines.
      Honestly I think the way you're doing it is fine, there's barely any overlap with characters so it kinda feels like an isolated story anyway.
      Obviously you can see the remnants of when it was intertwined in the main story like at 14:15.
      I do think you'll enjoy the other zones a bit more after doing the coldharbour story though.
      It just adds better context for some of the stuff the characters will say/do.

      I have one big issue with Coldharbour though, and that's the fact that characters from the DC storyline get a lot more of a spotlight as opposed to the other ones, and the game acts as if you've known them all along even if you only did AD or EP and have never seen them. so I'd probably recommend doing it after DC

    Hey dude, I just want to say that I love your videos. You are so well articulated, your editing is fantastic, and this is my most played game ever so I’m obviously biased lol. I would guess I have probably close to 10,000 hours between Xbox and PC. I don’t play ESO anymore, but seeing your videos gives me so much nostalgia and I really feel like I’m going through the zones again for the first time watching your videos. Please keep it up!
    Something I wish you would have done alongside your rules for each zone would be: the mandatory completion of the mage & fighters guild quest for each relevant zone. However! This could be a bonus because maybe now you’ll be able to make a video about going through those entire story lines, and I’d love to join you on your journey with them. (Also if you haven’t picked up their skill lines yet, picking those up sooner rather than later is good because they give really good skills and passives).
    Keep up the great work!

      @FrostbreakYT  2 месяца назад +1

      Holy crap, thank you so much!
      I would've loved to do the guild stuff, but since my character is an argonian, I would have to have started in the EP faction! Hindsight 20/20 right? Even now I'm considering it, but it's going to violate a few of my rules to go through those zones prematurely and "spoil" my first impression of some of those areas. I'm thinking about it, but I 100% wish I knew that at the start of this series.
      I think I'll do a guild video / mini-sode after I finish the storyline. I do have their skill lines fortunately, someone else told me about that in my first video! Thanks again for the support, totally unnecessary but I really appreciate it

    One thing that stood out for me in Reaper's Marsh that I still remember years after playing it is how fantastic the voice acting for the twins were, Khali in particular.
    Like, during the Rawl'kha trial the hatred and grief in her voice hits so hard. Then when I chose to sacrifice her (since I thought Shazah would be a better leader) Khali's final lines before allowing the Dark Mane were full of a pure grief I can't remember any other character comming even close to matching.
    And as a massive khajiit fan, Reaper's Marsh was a solid zone for them. Not quite Elsweyr, but still great (definitely my favourite non DLC zone storywise).

    Congrats on graduating man! Glad you mostly enjoyed Reaper's March. With the ending, I too was super confused with that line, I'm not sure why they haven't just altered that. In terms of a grand finale though the alliance zones are supposed to be played alongside the main questline of the base game, so you're meant to go into the intro to coldharbour next which then feels a little more massive, but stand alone it's so strange.

    The POI with Raz is actually a decision whether you save him time and destroy the artifact or use it to free him and give him more work to hide it because the only means of destroying the artifact is buried in rubble, he does not die (mainly because he is an icon of the AD, but he will tell you that he just parkoured his way out of the crumbling ruins)
    As for the zone, it's not a desert. It actually looks more like a savannah. There is an actual desert on the Daggerfall side of the world map, they have a zone literally called Alik'r Desert (and it is exactly what a desert is). Besides that, Elsweyr looks more like a desert but as far as I saw, the only source of water or oasis outside of the hub is on a path bottom right on Elsweyr (as far as I know). Thank you for an interesting series and have a good night.
    Edit: I really forgot what Elsweyr looks like, lol. It is still a savannah but it's arid in the middle of the map.

      I just came back from the grand-canyon and Reaper's reminded me a lot of it! Lots of rocks, some water/streams, mountains, and not much greenery.
      There are 5 types of deserts in our world (some are completely snow!). The grand canyon is actually considered a "semi-arid desert" so I believe technically my statement calling it a desert is correct if you compare it to similar real world biomes (mohave-desert). Obviously, there's probably better examples of a "stereotypical" desert in ESO with sprawling sand-dunes; but it's does belong to the desert family on paper when you compare it to real life!

    You bring up a good point about how the vanilla storylines (and even a lot of the DLC storylines) don't give you meaningful rewards for finishing them. ZOS did eventually address this in later DLCs by giving you multiple meaningful rewards for doing all the activities in a zone but they probably should retroactively do the same for older content too.

    Loved the video as usual and congratulations on all of your hard work & graduation brotha!! You're the man, your content is phenomenal, and you should take as long as you need for breaks! You've got a fanbase in ESO and they'll be here regardless! :D
    Just leaving a comment here to talk about what you said about the reward at roughly 15:20. Reward structure in ESO has been and always will be a problem - whether that's for completing the Aldmeri Dominion storyline or rewarding players for completing hard content, they've always struggled with this unfortunately - even after 10 years. They've improved this in Necrom finally, but you'll notice this is a problem until then in my opinion :)

      Thanks so much Cooper
      I've heard some other people in these comments have the same criticisms I do about the reward structure; I guess it's not really a hot take. That's too bad to hear, of course I'm only 2-3 months deep but I can image how frustrating that must be for veterans. Some people mention the Elsweyr chapter has some really cool weapon rewards and (housing) for the finale. I'm excited to get there and check out that area + necrom so I definitely have some stuff to look forward to!

    quick suggestion if I may? IMO when you do Coldharbour campaign - clear all of the side missions before starting the point of no return portion of the main quest (also applies to any future DLC zones). all the people you have encountered during side missions - show up in the finale (some actively participate, others show up afterwards) and you can talk to them, touch base if you will - which I personaly think is pretty cool.

    Congrats on graduating and on finishing the AD zones! This series has been so fun to watch. I really hope you continue take your time with the game and take breaks so that this can continue to be enjoyable for you!
    ESO's base game zones can feel very rushed sometimes and back at release very badly received by most. Which is why people to this day won't go back to this game to give it a chance. Not to say they do not do a lot well. But things like copy and pasted delves, weak world bosses, lackluster rewards, and anti climatic storylines makes this apparent. It feels like they had a lot of ideas of things they wanted to do and ran out of time or budget. I really wish they would go back and redesign and fix up some of these early zones. The easy world bosses for example were designed for players with weaker sets, like the ones you found in this zone. Good luck solo'ing WB in Chapters, they definitely designed those to be played by groups. Or at the very least you need to be very good at the game and have great sets to stand a chance. Regardless, there is a lot of fun to be had in other alliance zones and the best thing about base game imo is the Coldharbor main quest which you seem to be doing next. The characters from the Coldharbor main quest fantastic, they feel more like classic ES characters, and some even make appearances in future Chapters. Anyways, keep up this great series! I cannot wait to hear about your experience with future zones :)

    • @FrostbreakYT
      @FrostbreakYT  2 месяца назад

      Thank you so much! I agree with basically everything you said and those are my primary issues with most zones I go through. I'm dreading the late-game world bosses, those are going to be tough without great gear for sure. I think I remember back in 2020 I played for about a week in greymoor (and made some videos on this channel comparing cities). I tried to solo a world boss and got demolished... like in a single hit. I've already been enjoying the Mages Guild / Fighters Guild stories a bit more than usual zones. They have so much lore implication, better rewards, and really great storytelling. Thank you for the comment!

    So, I would like to explain something that I believe will make a little sense:
    When people say that Coldharbour is the final alliance map, that's not being frivolous, that's a fact.
    In Coldharbour, we see different conclusions to things we did during the alliances and this ties things together better. Unfortunately, after Tamriel Unlimited, this got pretty messed up and I've wanted to see this resolved by the game for years. Technically, that whole quest in which our character reunites the alliances in Stirk (which you may have already done before, having played the main quest), only happens because our hero became famous throughout the continent for his deeds in your specific faction.
    What I would recommend is: Complete the three factions, and then do the Coldharbour questline, considering the encounters you will have there.
    And even though technically the ideal would be for this story to be done with 3 different characters, I would recommend doing it with the same character to get a general idea of everything you find in Coldharbour.
    This is it! The Aldmeri Dominion sequence was incredible! For me, the Dominion is the best faction because of the new lore established. But narratively, the other factions are much more interesting.

    If you didn't know you can complete the Zone Guide without doing all the quests. As it only counts quests tied to the main story or big locations. So if you "100%" a zone and move on you may actually be leaving some fun small quests behind. There are add-ons to show all quests in a zone to help not miss any though.

    • @FrostbreakYT
      @FrostbreakYT  2 месяца назад

      ooh really? I know there's some side-quests that are on the side of the road and not tied to anything. I grab anything I can but sometimes I miss them! Would you mind telling me the name of the addon? Gameplay already takes ~20 hours per zone so I'm not sure if I'd have the time to work it in, but it'd be a good addon regardless if I do feel like learning more about an area.

    Highly recommend doing the some DLC zones in a chunk. Coldharbour *slightly* leads into Wrothgar which *slightly* leads into morrowind.
    Thieves, Brotherhood, and Imperial city are all standalone and would be good break points. Imperial city thematically is tied to Coldharbour (not really a spoiler, the zone is literally the other side of the gargantuan anchor) which could be a good spot to follow Coldharbour as well

      @@FrostbreakYT they do and they don’t. Their stories function off a reputation system with new chapters of the zone story unlocked as you gain ranks in the faction. Sounds cool and makes sense since they realistically wouldn’t trust a newbie with the trusted secrets off the bat; however, it ends up being pretty grindy and you have to do many many many repeatable side quests for the faction to rank them up with almost all of the side quests sending you to other zones for themed menial tasks (for thieves guild it’ll be stuff like pickpocket people in this zone, open a lockbox in this guys house, gain clean treasures; and DB would be killing random people in a zone or a specific target). They zones they send you to won’t have much spoilers other than just seeing the zone and wandering a bit to get to areas. Also all the side quests send you to base game zones only so if you’re 100% not wanting to enter a zone if you haven’t done it yet then do them in release order.
      The only fully “standalone” DLCs are Imperial City and Murkmire. Everything else it tied to a larger story with IC even arguably tied into the main quest for the companions as it functions as an epilogue of sorts to Coldharbour. Also Craglorn but it’s not counted as a DLC anymore so it’s a good standalone area

    Some usefull information concerning the DLCs. Every DLC that released after 2016 has a prologue quest that you can play before the acctual DLC. These prologue quests are often times really good, and I would advice you to play them before the DLCs. However, all of these prologue quests take place in base game zones, so you would need to break your rules to play them. The same problem exsists with the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood DLC as they have radomized quests that require you to go to other base game zones. These quests are optinal, and you do not need to play them to progress with the DLCs main story (although they make it easier) but I'm unsure if you can 100% Hews Bane and the Gold Coast without playing in base game zones.
    This leaves Orsinium as the only DLC you can play right now, without breaking your rules.
    If your part of the Ebonheart Pact, you also need to play in the EP zones to complete the Main story, aswell as the Fighters Guild and the Mages Guild, witch I would advice,playing before Coldharbour.
