While everyone started at FF7, FF8 is where I started. All I can ever get my hands on were the 4 pirated CDs. Didn't even know what to expect from it, but I was mesmerized. It was so different from the previous games I played. Command & Conquer, Red Alert, Quake. All are great in their own right and uniqueness. But FF8 and those that follows... It had a story to tell. A beautiful story to tell.

I was able to grow out of my teen depression, but my best friend wasn't so lucky and I lost him to it. When I play the game, or listen to the music I still feel transported to that time in my life, longing to see my friend again. In my head I often related to Squall and saw my friend as Seifer(Cifer in the German version)... I lost my friend, not to a sorceress, but something that is often even harder to fight. Still, life goes on and wounds heal, but memories stay.
Thank you for sharing that with me. I'm sorry for your loss 😞. I have a somewhat parallel experience to you, which may be one reason why I like to make my versions quite moody. Sad nostalgia, ya know? I'm glad that you were able to grow and live and be here with us. I hope anyone who may read this knows that there's help and hope out there.

That's why I was super excited to see VIII come to the Switch. Made me ❤️ VIII all over again. It may be #2 (can't decide between VII and XIII for #1 Spot), but it has one of my all time favorite systems and characters. Rinoa and Squall will always be my #1 favorite couple and characters. They were the first two I could relate to and understand quite a bit.
The atmosphere of your covers is unreal. So familiar ost, but hits in a different way than original. The blue fields literally brought tears. Thank you 💔

I hope in the remake Squall summons Ifrit to drakaris the headmaster. And out of joy Edea offers to adopt him. And the next time Laguna and Ellone show up, Squall tells them "sorry but I have to see mummy and talk about dominating stupid humans!"
A remake would only sully the original game, by probably botching the atmosphere and the characters' facial expressions and the way they think and act. Kind of like what happened with the recent remaster, which visually turned Squall into a Dissidia-like anime character, almost doll-like. And Zell suddenly had a more oval and thin face. I wouldn't want newer generations of gamers to think that a poor reproduction represents what FF VIII was. In addition, it's best to just replay the original game without dumbing down its gameplay like so many remakes keep doing. Emulators exist. And if you're no longer happy with the original orchestration or graphics, you can always use mods. FF VIII is perfect the way it is. Let's remember it that way, not drag around its half-revitalized corpse.
I love where I live. The winters are cold the summers are hot. The only thing I genuinely don't like is that when it rains it's usually only for a little bit. Maybe a 30 minute rain tops. I've only ever lived here but I wish we could get hours upon hours of rain in 1 go
My first experience of FF8 was when I found a bootleg japanese copy in 1999 when living abroad. I remember the intro cinematic blowing me away, but then I had no idea what was going on, nor how to play because I can't read Japanese haha. I just ran around Balamb Garden for an hour just enjoying the music.

FF8, one of the FF I consider the worse for combat and magic, but still, one of my favourite. I loved the vibe of this game, and the ending with the videotapped party. Love, Friendship, etc... You're not alone! When I mixed this with my headphones I could hear it clearly but then with every other medium it really doesn't stand out. And even on my casual headphones I can't really hear it all that well, unfortunately. I've tried to correct for that with the last couple compilations I've put out. It is my honest opinion that this franchise specifically this game in this franchise does not get as much appreciation as I think it should it has a beautiful story effectively Laguna and Julie end up getting together through Rinoa and squall. And a simple fact of how much Laguna really did care for Raine. It is truthfully my favorite game in this series and the franchise
@@KomorebiSounds ***Spoilers*** Well if you remember the part I believe it's on the first desk when they go to Delling City, Julie is playing "eyes on me" for Laguna, and later invites him up to her room. He relaxed and got comfortable. Talked all night and then got called out to do the mission on disk 2 to help clear out the Estar soldiers from Lunatic Pandora ruins, and was thought to have died. Because of that General Canaway (sp) married Julie and Leguna washed up on the shore that was where Elona was, I think Raine was her biological mother, making Squall and Elona half brother and sister. Later because Leguna was the head honcho for Estar, Raine died, and Rinoa is Julie and General Canaway's Daughter. It's romantic as Squall being Laguna's son, and Rinoa being Julie's Daughter, Leguna and Julie met in the next generation thought their kids.
It's difficult to know the sequence of events that play out after this but effectively I think Raine died while Laguna was out on some kind of mission, as Elona was kidnapped from the orphanage leaving Squall by himself, later Leguna negotiations that Elona gets set free, In exchange he stays in Estar as Dr Odaine was looking for a suitable replacement for Adele, so time compression had every chance to take place then but didn't. Remember Rinoa gave herself to Ultimacia, and came in contact with Elona which was her first goal to initiate time compression anyway. Anyway, point is love the music, Balamb Garden is relaxing and love the music, game, story, characters and have a real passion. Thank you for letting me nerd out

You're not alone! When I mixed this with my headphones I could hear it clearly but then with every other medium it really doesn't stand out. And even on my casual headphones I can't really hear it all that well, unfortunately. I've tried to correct for that with the last couple compilations I've put out. It is my honest opinion that this franchise specifically this game in this franchise does not get as much appreciation as I think it should it has a beautiful story effectively Laguna and Julie end up getting together through Rinoa and squall. And a simple fact of how much Laguna really did care for Raine. It is truthfully my favorite game in this series and the franchise

Well if you remember the part I believe it's on the first desk when they go to Delling City, Julie is playing "eyes on me" for Laguna, and later invites him up to her room. He relaxed and got comfortable. Talked all night and then got called out to do the mission on disk 2 to help clear out the Estar soldiers from Lunatic Pandora ruins, and was thought to have died. Because of that General Canaway (sp) married Julie and Leguna washed up on the shore that was where Elona was, I think Raine was her biological mother, making Squall and Elona half brother and sister. Later because Leguna was the head honcho for Estar, Raine died, and Rinoa is Julie and General Canaway's Daughter. It's romantic as Squall being Laguna's son, and Rinoa being Julie's Daughter, Leguna and Julie met in the next generation thought their kids.
It's difficult to know the sequence of events that play out after this but effectively I think Raine died while Laguna was out on some kind of mission, as Elona was kidnapped from the orphanage leaving Squall by himself, later Leguna negotiations that Elona gets set free, In exchange he stays in Estar as Dr Odaine was looking for a suitable replacement for Adele, so time compression had every chance to take place then but didn't. Remember Rinoa gave herself to Ultimacia, and came in contact with Elona which was her first goal to initiate time compression anyway. Anyway, point is love the music, Balamb Garden is relaxing and love the music, game, story, characters and have a real passion. Thank you for letting me nerd out
