This game is a lot of fun. More so if you can mod it some. Expanded foods (and the mods that go with it) and the xSkills system feel nice & good that doesn't break "lore". If you do get xskills (and xlib), make sure you tweak the xp gain for the skills to a level comfortable for you that it doesn't make you feel OP yet doesn't feel like a snail's pace. So many good mods that also link with both of these. Helve hammer extensions (allows your helve hammer to do more/share more ability with what you can do), and the wild craft set that covers herbs, trees, bushes, etc. All of these only really add to the game & keep the flow with emersion. (also, this is greatly inspired by Minecraft mod, Terra Firma Craft)
Lol, I wasn't 'screaming' exactly. I was wondering if you'd figure out the knife before the video ended. The Handbook is your best friend, especially at first. Putting your cursor over an item, or crouching with your reticle over an item in the world, and hitting H will bring up the a page about that item with the recipes it can be used for. I almost missed this video, I'm glad I caught it. I laughed my ass off.
You are not the first person to be confused by the knife blade vs knife thing. :D You found clay, peat, and chalk on your first day, which is pretty lucky, especially the chalk! You don't need it right away, but the need for chalk/limestone can be a pretty big barrier when you get to a certain point... I would second the recommendation to avoid mods that affect gameplay until you have some experience with the vanilla game. The game already has a lot of depth and complexity, and its various systems are balanced to work with each other. Once you start to get a sense about which elements of the game you like / don't like, you can make a more informed choice of what to tweak with mods.
It's true this shit will eat your brain for a good while. Until you burn down an entire redwood forest because a Drifter wandered through your pit kilns while you were off exploring (I think that's how it happened, lol). Then you might take a few days off.
Vintage story is a very in-depth game, the block-voxel look is deceptive. It does share some roots in minecraft , but it's definitely it's own game in a league of it's own now. It can be brutal with RNG sometimes. It's unforgiving, but if you figure out the basics, and use the handbook you can survive, build houses, farms and actually thrive. Winters are ... well, lets see if you get that far, hahaha. The survival aspects of the game , far out do any survival game on the market to date. After playing and getting the hang of VS vanilla wise, i recommend getting some mods for quality of life and other improvements that help game-play and enhance the experience. The great thing about the game is, it's absolutely customizable to how you wanna experience the game.
I was shocked at how in depth the system is. I was not prepared for that level of detail. Lol I went into it casually thinking I've played a hundred survival games
@@SergeantKelvin I can't see Floppy playing this( or i can but can hear him fuss already.) , but yeah lot of VS is very hands on , and a good portion of it is waiting too. Its not a game that goes real fast. You even have to make your dishes out of clay, cook proper meals, wait for crops to grow. It's alot. Thats just basics, not including the drifters and other baddies that dwell in the dark places. But over-all I give it a 9/10 for survival/crafting game so far.
That's not going to happen for a while, the Dev is trying to keep it "low key" while its in development. They want to avoid getting overwhelmed with feedback.
@@SergeantKelvin lol yeah my daughter is really into the Roblox games to shes got a Nintendo switch that I got her for her birthday and she don't even play it lmao
@@SergeantKelvin lol yup my daughter has pokemon, Kirby, Zelda and ninja turtles 🤣 and then she wants me to get in on the action of Roblox.. talking dad download Roblox let's play speed run I'm like what the hell nah!!!! I'm a big boy lmao
It's interesting you gave this a try because I think you said you tried the Lego Fortnite version of Minecraft and said you didn't enjoy it. This doesn't seem much different.
@@SergeantKelvin i feel like anything minecraft style, even if it was in horror genre, should feel kiddy. played a minecraft style mmo shooter and it's impossible to immerse yourself with rectangular cartoony characters

There's a TON of content. Plus huge mod support. It's worth it
