I love watching your builds they are so helpful, I never optimize mine cuz I don’t want the game to be too easy but your builds always give me so many ideas!
Deflecting Hardtear is really cool, but I'd argue you could already often hit Elden Ring bosses during wind-ups, in-between combo attacks, or by jumping over certain moves and attacking at the same time, even with colossals. It's certainly way less "turn-based" than the previous Souls games, except Sekiro.
Ranking lifesteal and infinite stamina tears that low is wild. I mean, they're still more useful than the dried tear for the exact reason you literally just described in the dried tear review. Rather do something for too short a time than practically nothing. Lifesteal turns AOE ashes into "what if Devourer of Worlds were actually good" and stacks up ridiculously quickly with things like Blinkbolt Twinaxe, Crucible Wings, dual twinblade jumps... How is that worse than the one that barely does its job? And the stamina tear lasts just long enough that it's being used to enable cheesy strats, which is more or less exactly what you'd expect that to exist for.
I dont understand fromsofts aversion towards lifesteal. We already have the most overpowered form of healing in the crimson flasks. Bosses already 2-3 shot you so trying to heal up by attacking instead of safely retreating to sip on your juice is a huge risk and should be rewarded. You could make the crimson sapping tear 10x stronger and it still wouldn't be op
I wouldn’t write off the sapping tear straight away. If you think of it from a game dev perspective why would they in fact make the healing so crappy? It’s probably because it’s meant to stack with other healing items like the talismans or the spell beastial vitality that regens hp over time. That being said I understand wanting a more up front payoff type of tear.
You're a tad off about the stamina. Some incantations/ ashes are limited by your Stamina MORE than FP. So that let's you spam Some decent stuff for 15 seconds. And if fp is an issue, u can use Cerulean too
I guess it's because physical damage is a lot easier to come by and also a lot more flexible, as there aren't really any enemies that are significantly more resistant to physical damage then to elemental damage (except blobs) + a lot of enemies have always some elements that they are much more resistant to than to the others and physical damage, so you often need to match you weapons element and tear accordingly, while you can just chug the power within tear for every major encounter and just do really good damage regardless of weapon and build.
Deflecting hard tear is really fun especially with the new great hammer. It is easy but it feels really interactive kinda like playing a normal action rpg. Does a shit ton of poise dmg :)
The spirit ashes could make for an interesting ranking video, do any of them dethrone tiche from the #2 spot? (Because there's no way in hell anything is dethroning Mimic Tear lol)
Viridian Hidden Tear pairs well with Cerulean Hidden Tear. The issue with Cerulean by itself when casting big spells like comet is that you actually run out of stamina before Cerulean is even over, and you waste some of its usage, but with the stamina one as well you can really spam spells. That's my take.
The Viridian Hidden Tear seems like it was designed to compliment specific skills that are available to some of the new unique weapons in the DLC that can be repeated until you run out of stamina (stuff like Unending Dance from the Dancing Blades of Ranah or Spinning Guillotine from the Putrescense Axe), but I'm unsure how worth it that actually is in the grand scheme of things
5:04 "As you can see in the gameplay over here i actually have malenia oiled up i just hit her from the back a couple of times with my fire based hammer and she just gets overwhelmed"
I remember finding this channel when it had less than a 100 subs and being like wow this dude is showing all the weapons, spells etc and he might be big one day. 80k subs 2yrs later is criminal, he deserves waaay more than this for the amount of work than goes into this level of content.
make whatever videos you feel like doing youwy. The Dragon-Hunter Great Katana is my new favorite weapon in the whole game, a charged Dragonwound Slash deals big damage, decent poise/stagger damage, and it uncludes a decent jump forward so a lot of attacks miss you, and you also get some hyper armor, it's like a jack of all trades type weapon skill. It also look sick af imo.
Cant wait to see your weapon reviews for this dlc! Your in depth reviews after I finish my blind playthroughs make it seem like I have a lot more things to try out especially because i dont have the time to always research and theory craft builds and items all the time and kinda just want to play ❤
Combining no mana and stamina cost can be useful, some of those mana hungry spells can stamina cap you instead. Even easier to meme beam now, but should be other applications as well.
Cerulean Hidden Tear + Viridian Hidden + Ghiza's Wheel = 15 seconds of straight chainsawing without needing to stop. There are plenty of AoWs that also take stamina to use and often can be held down and used until either the FP or Stamina bar run out. This pretty much makes both useable for a long time. I mentioned Ghiza's Wheel, but how about Prelate's Charge on a Great Stars? How about doing a Lightning Ram roll?
It's not great (or even good) but I love using Crimson-Sapping with Bloodsucking. Other forms of passive HP regen would be better, but I love how anime it is to have a power-up that increases your damage while draining health, while also being incentivized to keep up the pressure by attacking to regain health.
I never understood why people rate elden ring 10/10. 95% of the items, skills, armors, potions, tears, weapons are all completely useless.. And that's being generous. The game has so much bloat, that does nothing for anything. So manh of these items and mechanics are just broken? They barely even function properly. Its like fromsoft didn't even test these before implementing them in the game.
1:18 You do realize that some AoW cost a ton of stamina right? Backhand blades are monsters stamina drainers, and paired with this and a bleed or frost setup, you can actually burst bosses down extremely fast. You can't really get a similar performance without this tear because within the first three seconds your bar will be gone. Similarly with some spells too. You can literally spam Shard Spiral for 15s without any problems, which is extreme burst against larger enemies. Without it? You're casting 3-4 then having to wait a few seconds for recovery. It's way, way better than the Crimsonburst and Cerulean-Sapping tears.
How do you know that the glovewort crystal tear is giving 20% more damage , I'm guessing this has been tested . Is 20% a lot for like an actual dps summon like Mimic? From the comments on the wiki they say its 7-8% more damage for 180 seconds ?
I keep going back to the Blasphemous Blade. I'll use something else for bosses sometimes, but for exploring the Cerulean Dew Talisman just made it for me. I can wander around and never use a flask of anything. The BB heals my HP, and the Talisman heals my FP.
Getting these tears was more difficult than how good most of them are, only Glovewart and Deflecting tears are worth the trouble.Glovewart requiring 3 furnace pots (carry atleast 1 or 2 extra incase you miss). Bloodsucking tear sounds good but unlike Dark souls 1, the bosses in this game will not give you the opportunity to take distance and heal and they can basically cover the entire area in a fraction of a second. The dlc feels like I'm playing Sekiro with the Dark souls 2 character
I think if you combo the Viridian hidden tear and Cerulean hidden tear with the comet azur boss melt then you can use that spell for the full 15 seconds during combat. Otherwise you’ll lose all your stamina before the unlimited FP wears off. Maybe, I’ll have to test some more.
I am currently going through the game with my dlc character on ng+ now. The viridian tear allowed me to make EXTREMELY short work of Mohg when I equipped 2 reduvias lol.
I'm loving the infinite stamina tear with Relana's swords. 15 seconds of infinite stamina paired with the damage mitigation tear can get you through like 40% of boss's health, since the swords do bonkers burst dps at high stamina cost.
One combo that comes to mind with the sapping cracked tear is the executioners sword. It hits so many times rapidly, I think it would be a banger combo. Usually you're using an arcane build with that sword also, so I'm thinking you could throw out a couple of dragon breath spells, pop the cracked tear, use the executioners sword, and get all your fp back.
I recommend this build: giant crusher, two handed talisman, guard counter talisman, with knight resolve. Put the buffs you like of course flame grant me strenght and golden vow. Plus the other ones. Flask deflecting hardtear and bloodsucking hardtear. And then the real question is: are the bosses in this game ready for me? Cause im gonna rip their souls
