I once had the HD 6XX and I thought they were boring, so I sent them back. Found the 58x for $100 on Facebook Marketplace so I decided to give them a go, because a deal like that is too good to pass up, and I love them! In fact, it's the only Sennheiser I've tried and actually enjoyed. Somewhere on Dankpods' channel there's a back to back sound demo comparison between the HD 600 and the HD 58x, and I liked the 58x better in that demo. I do not think the 58x is shouty at all. It also depends on the recording and the genres that you are listening to, I guess.
I appreciate the honest straightforward review. Also pretty saw your listing for these 58x’s over on Head Fi. My worlds are colliding! About those interconnects - have you tried Hart cables? Now I’m thinking I’d have the same issue with those if I’m moving around. It seems like that means the Hart cables would be for desktop use only.
I appreciate you stopping by the channel. Like I always say, I'm a huge fan of buying and selling used. That's the only way I've been able to listen to so many headphones.
Agreed, used is a win win win for everyone involved. Of course, I’d be glad to! hartaudiocables.com/collections/interconnects A huge selling point for the Hart cables seems to be how adaptable it is (pun intended?). All of their cables terminate in the same female 4 pin XLR, and you buy the interconnect that your rig needs to adapt off of that. What I was getting at was - I know their cables are really well regarded quality-wise, but the design shares the same problem as the cable for the 660s. You’d always have this giant adapter connector thing ~4 inches from of the end of the cable that would be irritating if I was carrying it around.
@@carter7036 ahhh, I see. The Hart Interconnect is much more manageable. I have a Hart that terminates to 2.5mm, and have used it with the BTR5 and ES100 without issue. Definitely better than the Senn adapter.
Hi, I'm trying to decide between these, the HD 6XX and the HD 560S Do you know how they compare in games? Which has the best soundstage and positional audio?
For me, I’d take the m1060. Much smoother. 58x is more energetic, but more than I care for. M1060 has less bass, but it is also much better defined. 58x would have the edge in imaging precision, but the m1060 has the better sound stage. 58x would be more portable, but less comfortable, IMO. Again, for me the m1060 is all around the more enjoyable headphone.
Well the 660's are around $450, the 58X are under $200, so it is kind of a no brainer that they would sound and feel better, not exactly groundbreaking stuff here. As an owner of the 58X I agree that they can sound muddy at times when I use certain DACS with them, but with the Dragonfly Red they sound fantastic, the IFI Zen setup not so much.
No arguments here. I had just heard many people say the 58x was close to the 660. I thought I would decide for myself. 660s seems to keep coming down in price. Pretty easy to find for around $300 on the used market-great headphone at that price IMO.
See, I have an Ifi Zen Stack and I think the 58x sounds amazing on it. I wonder what source and genres you listened to? There's a song by Alison Krause and Union Station called "It Doesn't Matter" and the acoustic guitars on that track are heaven with the Zen Stack and the 58x. I liked that particular song better on the 58x in comparison with any of my other headphones, including the Hifiman Ananda.
@@danterikxx that wasn’t my experience, but I know lots of people really like the 58x. Personally, I think the 560 is easier to listen to because of its higher resolution. What will you run it off?

I'm sorry, could you clarify your question about the interconnects?

@@MrAyrit That’s good to hear. Thanks!

Great review no bs just positive!! 😀🎧🎤🎶
The frequency response graphs are almost identical the 58x have more sub bass in ur head u know it’s pretty close
That May be why people say they are so close, I haven’t looked at the graphs. I’m in the camp of just deferring to my ears.
These headphones are completely muddy unless you EQ them, then the sound improves dramatically
Got the same feelings. One can eq it to kind of hd660s or S2 easily.
For fun listening m1060 or 58x??
What is the main difference in sound between those two??

Hi can you recommend these over HD600 for gaming?Thnx.
Sorry, I haven’t heard the 600s, but for gaming I don’t think I’d stress over it too much. These are well regarded for that application.
Do the 599, oh yeah
Can I drive 58x with smartphone???
Sure.
@@MrAyrit thanks
these or the 560s for gaming? and why
I’d say 58x if you want the bass, 560s if you want a bit more precision. 560 is the better headphone IMO.
@@MrAyrit isnt it too sharp?
I want immersion and detail, but im afraid it might be too analytical for games, as in "overwhelmed by sound"

How does it compare to the hd 598?
Sorry, I haven't heard the 598.
