Good question, the Optic is a lot more capable. Tallboy pedals better and it a bit more fun on flatter traild. I think if you put a 140mm fork and a burlier shock on the tallboy it would be closer.
Hah, we seem to have a very similar taste in bikes! I was on the 2021 Norco Optic too and this year also switched to the V5 Tallboy to keep things a little more fun on the day to day.
I mostly take my trail bike up the abandoned ski hill nearby, I used to think I needed a DH bike to go downhill but trail bikes today are more capable than any 90/2000's DH machine lol
Running a forekaster v2 on the front of my tall boy and live at Gymea. Reckon on the back, works ok was running dissector front dhr rear but not lively enough.
Yeah I've got dissector on the front of the hardtail and I quite like it. I wouldn't mind trying a forekaster front and ikon rear when on the Tallboy when these wear out. So far so good though!
Yep I still have my Honzo! It’s a bit different, with the HT you can lose traction easily climbing like when you hit roots, and then you have to be careful descending because its easy to flat or tweak your ankles. The XC dually takes the edge off both climbing and descending so you can ride it a harder and more carelessly 👌
How's this compared to the Optic ?

I like your bi-monthly new bike day videos. Can’t wait for September, I’m think it’s a Yeti next time.
Haha 😂

Impeccable taste! I've really been enjoying the mellower trails since getting the tallboy, but I do sometimes miss the mini enduro feel of the Optic
Sick rig mate, looks like a lot of fun!
Thank you for the video. I am also considering getting an tallboy frame for my second bike but they are so expensive ☹
They’re very pricey, but it is a very high quality frame with a lifetime warranty so there’s value in that if you plan on keeping it for a while
@@MTBMcPhee also free pivot bearings for life !

Nice bike I have just down sized bike too from the altitude to a Druid same reasons as you have said
You’ve got a nice bike too 👌
How tall are you? I just ordered my Tallboy in XL and I'm just shy of 6'2 and about 198 lbs.
I’m 6’ exactly and I would go the XL if I was buying again. That will be perfect for you 👍
do you still have your honzo ? how would you compare the difference between the xc to the ht ? i wouldn't see much difference tbh ?

Is your camera under your visor on your helmet?
Sure is
what happened to your norco bikes?
They all have new homes
Try the 2.6 rekon in the front
Good idea!
I know it’s weird but what street do live on
yeah nah
@@MTBMcPhee where’s the trails at least
@@MTBMcPhee😂
@@harrycolliss19 thats the dog park at kirrawee 🙈😂
Have you weighed it mate?
Yeah mate its a hair under 14kgs with pedals. Not super light, but I have some easy grams I can shed
That’s a pretty decent weight I reckon. You get too light and it starts to feel a bit rattly and unstable
@@nickmcgraw2004 yeah, I think I’ll get it to low 13kg range and it should feel pretty perfect there
