- This is a clip from a great show staring Dave Attell called "Insomniac" where he would go around to different cities and stay up all night drinking and basically raising hell. In this particular episode he was in Vegas and just happened to go into the pawn shop Rick Harrison and his family own.

He didn't even call in an expert for the VCR
TEN BUCKS!!
He took all the risk
@@DennysFranciscoIt was the best he could. Not a penny more or he wouldn't make no money.
This is where Rick got the idea that he could make a show out of their business. It took him 4 years to finally make that dream a reality after talking to a few production companies and networks. Pretty amazing how his foresight and determination to make it happen paid off so huge.
So you, too, have access to Wikipedia?
Everyone knew that but Gee tell us more Jay
Id like to call in an expert.... XD
The HBO show would have sucked. He was smart to say no.
Read his book, it talks about all this sh*t.
This is like an R rated version of the modern pawn star. I like it.
Pawn Stars: Afterhours might actually be genius. When all the whackos and broke gamblers are out lol.

Thumbs up if you never know what is gonna come through that door
can't say i do.
I hate this shit but I really have no choice but to thumbs up
in this case....a downvote
+Mox_au in this case... its youtube and not reddit. it's called disliking

man 10 bucks for a vcr in 2003 was actually a good return.
I'm pawn shop, and this is my Rick Harrison. I work here with my old hoss and my man , big son. Everything in the story has a price and a here. One thing I've 21 years learned- you never door what is gonna come through that know.
This is unappreciated
This is one of the best comments I’ve ever read I’m dead lmao
wot
How this starts...you can't stop reading til the end.
Sooooo close.just one "W" away from having a perfect post
nice to see Rick laugh at someone else's jokes for a change.
Nice to finally hear funny jokes at Rick's pawnshop.
Wow! I've just watched the only REAL episode of pawnstars ever made.
they're all real, you imbecile 🤣
@@mesofius You’re the imbecile if you actually think that
@@user-ux1vj9vx7s i hear the actual pawn shop is nothing but a gift shop for their merch
@@Chicken_Wing91 sounds about right.
@@Chicken_Wing91 it's not, but there is a sizable chunk of space in the back that is for their merch.
That said, if you're ever out there, you have to go in and check it out. The shop is much, much smaller than expected and quite narrow.
Dave Attell, taking selfies before they were popular
Haha, never thought about that. You're right for sure!
that selfie was fast as hell too
axelskull mr Bean did it before him
bhag
No before some brainless generation gave them a name, mfers been doing this since handhelds were available
I miss this show so much. Insomniac was awesome.
Scripted and shitty
yeah hes gotten too wasted on shows to have scripts
Yeah, just got cable when this show came out. I would look forward to staying up late to see it.
This show was pure gold
+Tool0GT92 show was good for anyone 40+
Mark worked for Rick and the Old man for 10 years, but moved on right before the show started. He plays in a few Thrash Metal bands in Vegas and So Cal right now.
Nice
I miss Insomniac! This show was awesome. It must have been badass for Dave Attell to have a show where all he did was party and meet all kinds of people.
Until he had to go to rehab
"badass" so much he had to quit the show because it was ruining his life.....
Agreed, when his show was pulled from CC was a sad day.
I used to fucking love this show. This jewish dude went everywhere taking selfies before anyone knew what selfies were.
"This jewish dude" Do you mean Dave Attell? I feel like he's been famous long enough to have a real name lol
Insomniac
Whoa there Adolf 😳
mr Bean did it during the 90’s with the royal guard.
Wow, that's Rick? How many Big Macs ago was this?
Max Power over 9000!
Thinner and a lot younger looking
Or genetics lol
He was approximately 38 here.
Over 690,420
I'm Rick Harrison and this is my pawn shop. I work here with my old man and my son, Big Hoss, and in 23 years i've learned one thing. You never know what is gonna come through that door.
Ayyyyy Dave Attell, my late night teenage years
lol same, he always seemed dirty and creepy to me but entertaining af
21 years ago….😮 2003 was a good year. 😊
I love how casually they take a pic at the end. Takes less than a second.
This was not a coincidence, for year Rick pitch up the idea of Pawn Stars to a lot of tv channels until History Channel took it in 2009
I really loved this show, I just graduated high school when it came out and nothing could beat it on tv for me. After about season 5 I drifted away from it...the original feel was lost and became more silly to me. I still got to enjoy billy the exterminator, dual survival, and American restoration though lol 👍😎
The guys are pretty cool they should start a TV show
insomnia was such a sick show. dave attell!
BTW, Corey is now only about two years younger than Rick was here.
It’s the same age now
I loved Insomniac. I don't know why. I was never a "night owl" I didn't drink, I didn't party, but when the freaks came on, I just had to watch.
I can't believe he gave that guy $10 for that VCR without calling in an expert.
Rick’s laugh was genuine and also he had some hair left before he decided to shave it all for the show.
Man I loved watching Insomniac and I always remembered this episode when Pawn Stars came on.
A VCR for $10 that you're going to pick up when you get paid. Needed $10 that bad? Damn that sucks.
Heyyy, times is tough
he needed to buy some food for his mother :(
*drugs
He probably needed gambling money. It's Vegas.
Mark was the original Chum Lee!
Watching this show when they premiered at midnight from your bed before you slept was a trip.
This was so cool ..... It was awesome to see these guys so long ago before they became T.V. guys ..... Thanks for posting .... V V
Now it is a glorified t-shirt stand
+SuperLordHawHaw went there once. it was overpriced, packed, and small. i used to be a fan of the show before they sold out and started selling razors and energy drinks.
+xYouthAttackx so true
@Willz __ they capitalized on the show. Csnt be mad. You wouldve done the same thing. I wouldve, morally is it the right thing to do? Who can really say
They've made millions and taking it easy now
Pawn shop is there to make money, so obviously they love money. I don't think it's considered selling out to them.
They should show more night haggles at the window on Pawn Stars.
yeah that was super entertaining:
10 bucks
ten bucks
ten bucks
10 bucks
ten bucks
sold!
wow he was skinny
pretty sure he had some hair too
They didn't really work after the show got big
@@gone1583 how do you know Rick used meth??
@@Cold_Dice Probably only a few hours a day to record, in case they have to wait for someone to come and evaluate something a customer brought.
@@cryptidian3530 The negotiating is done before the people bring the stuff in. They schedule everyone from the "customers" to the "experts" to be there at the same time so they can just film it quickly. Splash in a little filler of them sitting around talking and you got an episode.
I'm Rick Harrison, and this is my pawn shop. I work here with my old man and my son, Big Hoss. Everything in here has a story and a price. One thing I've learned after 21 years - you never know what is gonna come through that door.
I remember thinking, they should use that pawn shop that was on Amsomniac for a pawnstars show. Hot damn it IS the same pain shop!!! way to go Hollywood.🤙
Hahah..I remember that show! thanks for sharing
I miss insomniac :-( Thanks for posting.
I wonder if they had battletoads back then
based
This so old that Rick got hair never seen this before really cool pawn Stars throwback
i love how in the show he says he never buys nazi stuff because it's "bad mojo" yet he's got a table covered with nazi stuff lmao
Yeah I found that funny too lol. It probably has to do with it being a different time. Back then Rick would not really care about offending people necessarily, and the public was not concerned with being politically correct. I always felt he should have changed that stance in recent years, German militaria is only getting more expensive and is highly sought after by collectors. But like I said before, the whole being worried about offending people thing and being politically correct... 👎🙄 he thinks if he shows that stuff in his shop he will lose ratings and probably not be welcome on the network...sad to say but probably true these days.
This nigga was smoking crack back then he didn't give a fuck..
@@herrelektrika5490 You're right, it was a different time 18 years ago.
Gotta play PC if you wanna be on TV.
@@classiccarbuff Better time
“There’s nothing sadder than a broke Nazi.” I needed that laugh this morning.
Hey man, that was cool! Thanks for posting it!
I remember watching this episode, and I never realized it was PAWN STARS.
I couldn’t stop laughing so hard when the guy said no money for schnitzel.
I actually remember this now, i love pawn stars
Omg this is such a nostalgia trip. i remember watching this late at night as a kid
now you're a weeb what a shame

DAVE ATTELL!!!
Holy shit i wish a full series of this could come out today. The back window vcr haggling was top tier stuff.
Loved this show
Dave Attell you gotta revive this show. Hell, send surrogate comedians to the cities- Just bring this show back.
YES. AHHH DRUNKS AND LOSERS DWARVES WITH LIMPS, FLOS AND HOS AND ONE EYED PIMPS!
I think he said that the show got too popular and he was getting reconized which made it hard for them to film with everyone coming up to him. It might work better now.
Miss this show, can't find it anywhere. Great show Dave..
Andd back when Rick had hair lol
Dave Attell is the greatest comic to NOT make it to ‘superstardom’.
‘Insomniac’ was a great show. ‘Dave’s old porn’ is also pretty funny.
He had his own show.......
Nah. Greg Giraldo.
Damn man, thanks for the info!
6/5/03 per IMDB. It’s great this exists, and I remember watching the episode now that I’ve seen this clip again. Apart from being funny, comparing this clip to any episode of Pawn Stars tells anyone all they need to know about how much this culture changed during the 00s.
I'm Rick shop , and this is my pawn Harrison. I work here with my old Hoss and my son, Big man . Everything in price has a story and a here . One thing I've never learned- you know that 21 years door is gonna come through after what .
Why did I laugh harder then I probably should of at this comment? 😆
I miss this show
lol I still have the Insomniac theme stuck in my head!
holy shit i actually remember this from way back when. would never have thought that it was the same people!
Who's here after watching pawn stars in 2020 on history t.v 18 ?? ❤️ Like here
Dave Attell needs another show like this
so young
This is one of the funniest videos i’ve ever seen on yt.. fucking classic insomniac shenanigans
This is great he still does the laugh!
Here in 2022 and 3:07 when the flick of that Kodak happened… flew right back to 2003
holy crap, great find. Dear Comedy Central, PLEASE BRING THIS SHOW BACK.
Much love to Dave!
Thumbs up to you good sir; I couldn't agree more.
If you think about it, Insomniac predates and inspired many if not ALL of the current numerous "work shows" like Dirty Jobs, Parking Wars, Pawn Stars, Storage Wars and others. Many of the same jobs were covered in Insomniac in more humorous ways, like as Dave puts it "an E! Wild On! for ugly people". They would make a goldmine if they either brought the show back or at least released ALL episodes on DVD.
Hello from twelve years on
Dave was a cool guy with a great sense of humor.
Holy shit.. I remember this but didn't realize it was him. LOL!
Damn, recessed memory, i remember watching this on comedy central when it aired
Very cool!
This is the Holy Grail of all the Pawn Stars chapters
I miss Dave!
kewl I think I actually saw this episode
I remember watching that when I was a little kid.
cant believe it was on this show before it was a show. this is insane. life is crazy
Did he just click to the next pic on that camera? Wow! I remember those! lol
i love YOU Rick
Watching this video at 4:47AM CST. What a coincidence.
wow! thos is awesome!

Great show I own season one and two but it didn't include the Tijuana episode.the show was so good it discovered another great one pawn stars
“I’m Rick Harrison and this is my pawn shop. I work here with my old man and my son, Big Hoss, and in 23 years I’ve learned one thing. You never know what is gonna come through that door.”
Very interesting
I wonder if he ever got his VHS player back...
yeah, with his next paycheck
@@mesofius He did have a DVD player, too.
Wow. Rick had no clue how famous he and the shop would be one day!
I forgot about that show it was a good show and i forgot this is first time ever seeing the pawn star
damn i miss this show
i wish there were more vids like this
It's quite mad on the kid friendly papwn stars he said he never buys "Nazi memorabelia" and what do we have here
Sure, after getting a massively popular tv show I'm sure you'd probably make a similar decision, lol
But yet he still buys imperial Japanese war memorabilia despite them committing even worse war crimes than the Nazis. Weird world we live in.
YO, so as the comment says, this is Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame. Rick actually got the idea for his show FROM Insomniac.
awesome :D
Earlier today a comedian came in. I just don't too much about comedians so I called in a friend and he's going to help me.
...and thanks to Dave Attell, the show Pawn Stars was born.
1:15 - computer screensaver: MAKE RICK MONEY
Is this 2003 for real? WOOOWW
