    I've found that because this paint has the bonding agent in it the jar lids tend to glue shut each time you use it. To fix this you can put cling wrap over the opening, then put the lid on over the cling wrap. With the plastic wrap between the jar and the lid it won't be able to form that seal and glue itself again and you won't ever pull a muscle trying to open your jar the next time.

    Because of the bonding primer and topcoat that is built in, you really want to stir VERY well before using. Also, it is self leveling, so put a good amount and stop working it. Just stipple it to help it self level. Also, using self stick plastic wrap before putting the lid on keeps is from sealing. This is a very hard and durable paint, therefore when it dries it is hard to break that seal on the lid. Even though you did not paint the company recommended way, you still got a wonderful finish. Just an added note; you can also paint leather, vinyl, and smooth fabrics with this paint, now. It now has a resin added that lets it dry and still be flexible enough to keep it supple and never crack with use. Yes, I have painted cabinets, furniture and even a leather recliner with this paint. No, I do not work for this company.

      I want to paint my leather couch but I am terrified that I will hate it! my major concern is that the leather will feel stiff and look painted! I am also concerned that it will crack or eventually rub off. I know I'm expecting a lot, but I would rather know than go ahead blindly and regret my decision. Please respond. Thanks!

      @@edmurphymurphy6810 You just need to clean off any body oils well. I used the HTP deglosser, but you can use non acetone nail polish remover. I sit in my recliner daily and it looks and feels just as soft and supple as the original leather and does not crack or get sticky. I have now painted 5 chairs. The leather and fabric desk chair is used by my son 8 or more hours a day. He does online education and is NOT easy on furniture and it has held up for over 10 months with zero signs of paint failure.

    I used this paint on my sons kitchen cupboards, about 3 years ago. They are an active, on the go family of 5. It has held up remarkably and cleans easily with soap and water. To be fair, I used a creamy white paint over stained wood and fiberboard,so I did three coats to cover. I love the finished feel of this paint and will use it again.

    • @candysnell4900
      @candysnell4900 5 лет назад +2

      Actually you fully load a brush as this is self-leveling. You paint a small area, then stipple with a smooth sponge to remove brush strokes. It drys quickly, so they recommend not doing this with a ceiling fan or vent on in the room. Also recommend doing this inside and not out, such as a garage. Do the same for the 2nd coat.

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique

      Everyone has their preference and technique, If I am not spraying, I use a good synthetic brush. When sanding in between coats, you want to go with a sanding pad, not paper - they make fine and extra fine, just enough to knock down any roughness. I love these - amzn.to/3ECLXbn

      not sure if you got your answer, but it is on the website. there is a true white (Cashmere), Bone is the yellow white and then there is more of a grey white. You have to go to the website, and there are comparisons of the whites with descriptions so that you know what you are getting.

      As an extensive user of this product, which I love totally to redo my whole home and others, you must use the restore, which will open the wood grain and take any dirt debris left over, especially in the kitchen and you must clean it very well after mini times, the oils from the kitchen will bacon and bacon Until it turns to a hard substance and that Hass to be cleaned off! I’m trying to be as positive as I can to help you! Second of all, you need the tools that go with this product there’s a stippling brush a roller brush that will take all the paint streaks off and catches any dripping or Miss places there’s two products of such one is a small roller which I prefer that you barely go over you do not get it in hard. In other words just take your finger off and just barely lightly go up up and down and all around first, trying it by rolling it lightly over your finger and there should be no pressure or indention on your finger and that will take out any trips or miss places with out, leaving any brush marks! There’s tutorials that go along with this and I suggest that you look at them all as you will become faster and a more professional luck, and be amazed at all the things that you can do with this product. Sincerely, Gerri D’Agostino.

    I don't recommend the product especially when using light colors, The kit that Heirloom promotes is over priced the paint is very difficult to lay down properly and there is a significant learning curve in laying it down properly and again I was using a light color. The small piece of trim she used is not a good example when compared to applying the paint to a cabinet face there was a texture to the paint in spite of several coats. Incidentally we watched the videos on how to apply the paint but I still didn't see the results I hoped for. In closing Heirloom doesn't offer a money back guarantee which is indicative of a level of dissatisfaction on the part of customers who returned the product. Ultimately your taking a gamble with the product it may or may not work for you

Also, should I use a product to fill in the grain before I paint and if so what would you recommend? What about a topcoat- satin finish and one that doesn’t yellow? I love the color you tested. • @BorninaBarnBoutique

      You can. Its a good all in one paint. I do not use it anymore - nothing wrong with it, just have others that are my favorites. General Finishes, Fusion, Wise Owl One Hour Enamel. All of those are great paints for cabinets/furniture. If you want a complete smooth look, no grain showing, you would want to use a grain filler, you don't have to but the primer and paint will not conceal that grain. All whites will yellow with a topcoat (even water based). I would go with a paint that does not require an additional one - General Finishes Brushable White enamel or Wise Owl One hour enamel - both dry hard as can be and very durable - with a top coat in the formula as well.

      @blondiek8934 3 года назад

      Make sure you degloss with either their deglosser or liquid sandpaper like from HD. one you do not have to rinse off. Let it dry. This rough up surface to give paint something to grab onto. and you can prime with water based primer...probably more economical than 3-4 coats of white like Cashmere. I'm doing my yucky 60s yellowish tile in Cashmere. Paula the developer of the paint said it should only take 2 coats with maybe some touch ups in the grout areas.
      A sample jar can do a pretty decent sized dresser or a front door 2 coats (with left over paint) or even a bathrooom vanity.
      Did you get the free sample?..one per household!Just pay the shipping.
      Can you tell I am excited about this paint! And sooo many beautiful colors!
      I'm doing my BA vanity in Mediterranean today as a matter of fact! Lol then the tile in Cashmere and my linoleum floor in Colosseum and either stenciling it or doing the marbling techniques.

      @@carolsperduto7723 I understand thats what this brand says. I just don’t care for the stippling technique. It also doesn’t make sense to me, I work with many paints that are self leveling and none of them recommend a stippling technique in order for the self leveling to happen. It’s a preference - it doesn’t have to be done that way. I have used this paint successfully without using that brushing technique. Self leveling paint is designed to level out evenly as it dries, providing a smooth finish. It can be applied by brushing, rolling, stippling or spraying successfully.
