Oh Terrance... lovely fellow...love his accent sounds like an old sailor 😂..
Very interesting
His accent reminded me of the Swedish Chef from the Muppets 😂😂
Omg you had me at Terrance and his accordion! 😂❤
I think Terrance must have been a pirate in another life!
@@susanhall7737 nah, just a Newfoundlander.
@@susanhall7737 He has the standard Newfoundlander accent
@@TheTroyc1982 indeed he does me old trout
A good example of rust from salt water can be found on the Powell River to Comox ferries in BC.
Thanks for stopping by Newfoundland again, Mike! Always great to see some love for the island and the people here!
Does Canadian fisheries V-notch their breeding lobsters?
You got access to parts of Fisheries and Oceans Canada that most people just don't see. The Sciences, Conservation and Protection, Coast Guard and Public Works employees all work together to protect our waters and ensure the resources are preserved for future Canadians. Thank you for sharing our jobs and what we do as Canadian Public Servants with the world.
Very informational. Thanks Mike and team for bringing us along.
You’re welcome, Eve! It was a very unique experience!
Love that you approach all of your adventures as an explorer. It's wonderful to hear, "..I'm learning.." as often as I do as opposed to the look at me format so prevalent elsewhere. Well done good sir, well done.
Terrance was amazing
Its absolutely amazing how the vessel turns upright when its upside down. Almost feels like the whole thing is buoyant.
The whole thing is buoyant
That is how it flips back over
@@anonymous-hf6oo There is a counterweight in the keel and the superstructure is made from lightweight materials.
A buoyant boat? What a novel idea! 😉
I am LIVING for these Newfoundland accents.
I really like the variety of subjects you cover and where you go!
Please continue!
The Canadian Coast Guard is somewhat unique as it is primarily used for SAR / Navigational purposes. Unlike the US coasties or other major nations, it does not have any law enforcement or defensive purposes. USCG has ships that would resemble a warship, just lesser armed But armed nonetheless. the Canadian Equvalent would be the RCN Kingston Class MCDV's or the new Harry DeWolf Class of Patrol Vessel.
The Department of Oceans and Fisheries is a separate but sister organization to the CCG. It acts as federal level agency what some would consider a Department of Natural Resources / Wildlife Ranger / Conservation Officer in the US.
He also has videos on the Canadian military armed ships which are lovely to watch too
CCG falls under the portfolio of the DFO and its minister
@@christophermerrick1100 But still they're always ready for the call...
Craig WAS NOT READY for the Toe Tag Question hahaha
Mike, Another great video! Thanks to the Coast Guard crews that patrol and protect the coasts of the USA and Canada! Thanks for bringing us along and looking forward to the next video on Nebula. Only thing that I don't like on Nebula is that we can't interact with comments.
Yeah, that’s a good point Ken, and it’s been brought up by Creators, but I think the platform wants to remain more like a Netflix and not like a RUclips 🤷🏼♂️
Definitely a wonderful look into those who preserve Canada's coastal waters. Fitting since I've just got power back from hurricane Milton and it's effect on our coastal waters.
Love the sound of a Newfoundland accent.
The diversity of accents is interesting
you have never been to Newfoundland i assume
Nice feature on the coast guard and I I always love that tag line in the end I don’t know where I am going next but I want you with me you should make t shirts and hats with that keep up the amazing videos !!!!
I hope you had some spare time to enjoy my home of Newfoundland!!! I’m happy to see you got to do a video here! This was such an interesting video to watch!
Love your content, Mike - how you take us places we never knew we wanted to go.
This dude is so cool! Makes me wanna go work on a ship!
Terrance sounded like an ole sailor but looked like a young buck and could play the accordion like a pro!
Another amazing DownieLive
Thank you for another great story. Cheers
Terrance needs his own youtube channel
That tank room was very impressive with its multiple water lines and ways of protecting everything from seawater corrosion. I never knew a Coast Guard ship had any scientific missions. The sauna was impressive and unexpected as well.
Oh, the Canadian coasties are great. They join the US coasties at my township yearly coast guard festival.
I absolutely love the maritime themed episodes. Love our Coasties 🇨🇦🇺🇲❤☸️⚓️🚢
Terrance missed his calling as a voice over actor. like Ron Funches, he can keep his voice for EVERY character, it's just that good ❤
Another great video! Signed up to Nebula, but your Aussie video isn’t up yet, so I’m watching The Getaway.
That water off the coast of Newfoundland looks swell 😉
Another amazing video lots of information. The views were amazing
0:04 Not even 5 seconds and I’m chuckling 🤭
P.S. Great factoid that Canada has the longest coastline. You’re one of the coolest Canadians we know.
Thanks for another interesting adventure. And about our home country.
cool video mike it's always fun to see what you do next
Lots of very interesting information! A lot of research went in to this video, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Whoa the Newfoundland accent was so thick. Love it.
Terrance has that fantastic east coast accent 😊
Love ur content
Lovely video!
Downie live is on nebula now to? That's literally some of the best educational creators out there, might have to consider getting a subscription again
Yes, I am! This video has been up a week early on Nebula. And my next video will be on Nebula first as well.
Very informative and awesome!
Great video my friend 🙂
WOW really cool toss👌🏼
Great video. Good job. Enjoy your channel.
Wow! Coast of coasts!
Very cool and informative!
😳 I would break fishing laws if officer Danielle arrested me 🤣
If I'd a know you was coming here I would've had over for a scoff. Good video
I need a breakdown on those accents
what breakdown, it's the Newfoundlander accent
When you said "and if you don't know where you're going next, I have a recommendation" I thought you were going to give my life direction. And then you threw to Nebula hahaha
Hahahah! I don't know you well enough to give you life advice, Danno! Haha
nice video Downie.
This is awesome, you're the new Rick Mercer
Now I know how lobster carty their eggs, the differences, etc.
But it was not only that.
TY. ❤
Thank you for converting the measurement from km to miles because if you hadn't I wasn't watching the video😂
Glad to help
Omg I wish I’d known you were in St. John’s!
Welcome to my part of the world! My home!🎉
The title reminds me of…How many Lowes could Rob Lowe rob if Rob Lowe could rob Lowes.
more travels by boat! what's the next boat?
Interesting to our american neighbors is that our coast guard isn't a military affiliated organization, but it's instead under the department of fisheries and oceans
MY GRANDAD was the youngest life boat captain in england (back in his time) im not sure of the dates tho wish i knew.. i only found that out at his funeral too.. nice video
If they would add zincs to the the pipes of the salt water it would prolong the lives removable zincs help a lot with all rust and corrosion they should be using those
I am just thinking were all Downie videos of him on narrow boats in the UK training for him to be able to carry out this assignment?
I would like to think that the local fishermen are also putting the spawning lobsters and the babies back.
They are. It is not up to C&P do remove each one by hand.
We just happened to find one so we removed it.
I moved from Toronto to Newfoundland, specifically for that sound of nothing 😊
How much coast could a Coast Guard guard, if a Coast Guard could guard coast?
And if one of those magic selfrighting boats turns over, what happens to the people who are riding or inside?
That female compliance officer can stop me every time she wants and give me a hard time about my paperwork. I'll make her job easy and have it all out for the compliance check! Every answer would end with a yes mam!
All the talk about the road train made me think of a song road train by King gizzard& The Lizard wizard and I'm hoping it's in your video
Go home next. 😂😂😂😂
about 108,000 nautical miles or 41,424.74 leagues
Give her (the lobster) a snack!! ;)
Naval term is below or below deck.
I noticed no one put a notch on the female lobster tail. That's supposed let other fisherman know. That the female has eggs. And is not supposed to kept.
I’ve done a lot of nautical shit in my
Life. Never seen a self-righting ship. Super cool. Why aren’t all ships self-righting…??
Don`t know if it will be answered later on, buy why is there an irishman in the canadian coast guard?
😂 newfies are just the irish ancestors that didn't move far from home
4 nautical miles. and i am being generous
That girl Danielle looks good fr tho ❤
Sorry Ms. Fishery Officer 😍
Cool video. Thanks. But instead of all the pumping the lab should have been built at the coast.
Have a look at St. John's Newfoundland on Google maps and you will understand why the Fisheries Center is a short distance from the coast.
I love your movie
19:09 😏
So Canada has about twice the coastline than the US? You do know there's a difference between
coastline and shoreline? Hard to believe with the east coast, west coast, gulf coast all the US
islands and Alaska that Canada has more.
If you look at a map, you’ll notice our north is vast, also scattered with islands.
what are they guarding?
04:05 if you look at those red triangles you will notice one well off shore. That is a CCG vessel protecting from foreign over fishing within the protected Canadian Fishing Zone.
👋🏾
What the heck is that accent Terence has??
Irish
He has a great Newfoundland accent
@@DownieLive if I had my eyes closed he sounds like an old salty sea dog of like 70
cool
FYI people have dyslexia you know !!!
That cat in the video clearly knows more than I do. He seems to be looking at me with judgment🍒
I never realized that watching videos could be such a fun activity🔥
