    Interesting that US put pressure on India to criminalize cannibis in 1985 even after knowing religious connections then now went on to legalize it themselves. Now they are earning revenue from hemp and having controlled use with less pressure on police and justice systems. Expected Palki to cover this history.

    Other countries and states that have done this have actually seen a decrease in drug crimes, usage, as well as overdoses and death. So, despite what it may seem, decriminalizing actually works. Because people are going to use it either way. So might as well prevent overdoses and other costly problems.

      What's the use of GDP growth, scientific progress etc if people need hard drugs to feel happy ?

    • @akapbhan
      @akapbhan Год назад

      Not really true. We've seen huge increase in homelessness and drug overdoses in Portland, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Of course, drug crime goes down because it's no longer illegal to sell drugs but property crime and violent crime almost doubles or even triples.

    Yes for medical purposes; no as youth could get addicted

    • @Egzoset
      @Egzoset Год назад

      Ideally the cardinal rule of *ALL* intoxication substances should be to leave kids alone, but that's in principle. Practice dictates that there will be, indeed, legally-vulnerable minor$ exposed to those produ¢$. Addictionnists-abstentionnists have no solutions except "treatment" that ain't free from life-threatening/morbid side-effects, so what's the lever left to people who believe action is needed?...
      Well, transformation of society is how youth can benefit in a durable/long-term manner and yet never requiring even to risk a socio-toxic interaction that can turn into one of these ugly scenarios: "Fix-my-Kid", "Kids-for-Cash", "Narconon Trois-Rivières".
      After all that youth didn't build the world they live in, we did.

      Yes, while she's mentioning Vancouver they are showing Toronto, which is too bad, because Vancouver's scenery is second-to-none. And when they were talking about British Columbia's parliament they were showing the federal parliament (health is a provincial responsibility). There were some shots of Chinatown though I believe, in Vancouver's Downtown East Side.
