Out of all the iteration of Gradius (including V,) this is THE moment that you realize (not just as a plot device) you are really riding on a Hyperspace Fighter: surviving an encounter with a Black Hole which is shredding apart everything around you.
*Beginning the mission* Gravity bend behind you! *About to face the kraken* Watch your back! *Destroying the kraken and preparing to boss rush* Black hole vanished, drive system switched to normal mode.
It was a nice touch when Konami made the jet flame animations drastically bursts out frantically while escaping the black hole it makes you feel like you're really avoiding this~ If you notice the animation of your ship as well it's getting a bit wobbly and your ship tries to fly straightly...
Easily my favorite level in the entire game! That music really gets you pumped up! Not to mention the Black Hole ripping the stage apart and depending on which ship and weapons you have, they're effected by the event too! 😱😱
Recovery in this stage on hardest is simply hell. Black hole changing the trajectory of bullets makes it a challenge. But design-wise the stage is just too awesome.
After all this time I finally was able to reach this stage. I have to say it's one of the most intense stages in a Gradius game ever, and hands down the best Volcano stage!
wow cool and i also find it neat that if you use the missiles that seem to go across the ground they also get sucked into the black hole thats quite cool:)
@ikaruga we're not completely sure but it was mentioned about being a new incoming Gradius game soon , currently mentioned ( a rumor ) a new Gradius game for 3DS , but for PS3 not very sure yet ^_^
"Now onto stage 7. Okay, this stage will be the last normal level, so we better make it extra epic! But first we need a theme. Any ideas?" "What about the good old volcano stage? We haven't done that." "But that stage is boring! How the heck could we make it epic?" "Well, how about putting a great big black hole behind you that sucks in the stage bit by bit?" "Genius! We have Level 7!" (reposted)
***** If Konami does eventually reach their inevitable fall, I wish Treasure or Siter Skain would continue the Gradius and Bomberman series. Hell, hand over Silent Hill to Kojima Productions and we're good.
Eufinity What little detail I find that makes Stage 7 amazing is that the ground slider missiles actually stop sliding and get sucked into the black hole if they were launched too close to it.
@@ProfessionalNamielleLewder69 6 years later, Konami are like cockroaches, their pachinko business rakes them in tons of money. Don't look for them to die anytime soon, but DO hope that they eventually replace their shitty CEO, with one who also wants the home console, and arcade side to thrive as well. That and change back to their Little Waves logo they used for years, not this boring ass logo they use these days.
@pianoguy222 Somewhat same what I thought, expect: "Ah, the memories... welcome back to the-" *Grumbling* "Volcanoes?" *Black Hole tries sucks up the stage* HOLY SHI- IT'S BREAKING UP!!! ESCAPEEE!
@ikaruga to me it will make me happy because best released console Gradius games were mostly in Sony's systems ( PSX / PS1 - PS2 & PSP ) ^^ so if hopefully one came for PS3 it'll make me happy ^^
who told you this info ? XD i never heard of any Gradius ship that goes 6 times faster than speed of light O_o also in this stage they look like they're not moving too fast from the moving speed of the stage ^_^
hemmmm yes maybe that's right but i prefer that the old gradius games should still as they are because all of them are awesome in it's originality but with a different shapes of awesome ost's ^_^
this music is quite cool but the level is weird the fact that it is the usuall gradius 1 first stage but the fact taht half the terrain gets sucked into a black hole it kinda leads to a theory i made about level 5 of gradius 5 that is it the remains of this level
@ryudooo XD you're saying ( my bro ) in arabic by ( ya akhy ) ? XD anyway ^^ , well - we're not very sure yet about what we'll see in the next Gradius game , but since it's announced that it's still a working title - we hope for it to be released as soon as it's fully prepared ^^
@aliultimate009 If one comes for PS3 wont make me so happy.. BUt maybe 3DS one! I loved Gradius ReBirth on Wii. And I just got a copy of Gradius II on Famicom, so I have something to do untill the next game comes!

"Hi, and welcome to Generic Volcano Stage #573!"
"lol jk surprise black hole"
Nicely executed Konami Number right there. Yes, "573" means "Konami", ladies and gentlemen.
@@SaviourV exactly how 86 means HAL and 29 sounds like meat.
You know this game is awesome when you are outrunning a Black Hole.
*Beginning the mission*

Oh !
It's been a very long time Soma !
How you've been ? ^^
@Damar Fadlan ???
@Damar Fadlan Well i don't know who you're talking about which is why i'm confused 😅
The saxophonist goes hard on this one
Gravity Bend Behind you
**the black hole starts to pull everything in**
Any arcade-related game wih black-holes are awsome.
For some reason I find this music comforting, even though you're at the mercy of a Black Hole destroying everything in sight.....
Gaiden favorite stage good changing about original free flyer stage
This is Best OST, and also speed stage
Speed stage is in the last stage, this is just the Volcano stage, with a spicy twist of a black hole added to it.
Great variation of the "nature" stage with a lot of destructibility
wow cool and i also find it neat that if you use the missiles that seem to go across the ground they also get sucked into the black hole thats quite cool:)
"Gravity Bend Behind You!"
Poor Eioneus, planet bro got killed by a black hole just after being ruthlessly enraged and eroded millions of times by Vic and friends

Jade Knight is always hard for me to find in that picture whenever I forget where it is. It blend in with the ice in the background.
Thank you ^O^
Glad to hear it thanks ^O^
Agreed...You rarely see one exept for this one ^_^

Man...I want this game so bad. Once I have enough money, I am getting the Ps1 version.
no one can save you if you're in the middle of it XD
thank you very much xd .
@ryudooo not to mention the rest of the super space ships ( Lord.B - Jade Knight - Falchion Beta ) are also powerful for evading that situation ^^
that's right ^_^
yes i've also noticed that ^^

The ships in this game are able to escape the black hole because they all have a speed of about 6c, which is 6 times the speed of light.

@ryudooo The Vic Viper is a SHMUP fighter. It's badass by default.
