I have had issue with the remote trackpad sometimes not working or having a delay. It got worse over time. I kept thinking it was a connection issue. Thanks for this info I also figured out that you can look at the AppleTV box and figure out which of the buttons is not making the light flash on The AppleTV box when you press the remote, then work the heck out of that area take some compressed air and blow it in there upside down mine eventually started working again, at least somewhat but it’s still a little sticky and wants to continually be stuck in an up position. thanks

Bring out the Apple TV out in open and make sure your remote is within 1 feet of Apple TV and then hold Menu + Volume Up for 5 sec

this works sometimes btw but a lot of times (if your remote died from low battery ) and you recharged it it needs to be reset and re-“paired” again
