Year 1944. After the sinking of a Soviet ship in the waters near Novorossiysk, Lieutenant Commander Sergey Saburov, the best of the best in the fight against underwater saboteurs, arrives in the city. He is appointed to reinforce the local counterintelligence unit. According to the intelligence, a highly professional enemy commando group has been deployed to the Novorossiysk area, headed by an experienced agent nicknamed Kunz. It is also known that an Abwehr School has been established to train underwater saboteurs. Saburov’s task is to find Kuntz and, through him, to uncover the location of the school that needs to be destroyed.
Saburov's arrival in Novorossiysk is overshadowed by a tragic event. During the seizure of enemy agents, his friend and former classmate, Yegor Soley, is killed when covering Sergey. Now the whole team looks askance at Saburov. And Yegor’s wife, Yelena, seems to hate him sincerely, despite she and Sergey having known each other since childhood, being in love with one other but concealing their feelings. In due time, it was Saburov who introduced Lena to Yegor, but fate decreed that the woman he loved became the wife of his best friend. Anyway, this difficult relationship must in no case interfere with the cause, since the fate of the Soviet Black Sea Fleet is at stake!

Another excellent and highly entertaining TV series from Russia. I have enjoyed episode 1 and it is right up there with The Attackers/Fighters. Great to see a venerable GAZ 67 out of retirement to give a solid performance too. Looking forward to episode 2 and the rest of the series. The last time I flew from Moscow back to LAX there was a Russian police drama set in Odessa just after the end of the war shown on the in flight entertainment at least in Biz Class and Premium Economy. I wish I had written down the title of the series. The show was black and white and seems to be very realistic, the detective was very interesting. I believe it was made during the CCCP. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Sounds like Ликвидация, Liquidation, from 2007. First few episodes were brilliant, then becomes more ordinary. Some episodes missing on RUclips, but there are no English subtitles anyway. Full series is on Daily Motion site, but still no subtitles. The language is particularly difficult--in Odessa it's a mix of Russian, Ukrainian and Yiddish. There's another series on RUclips set in Odessa after the Revolution, "Once Upon a Time in Odessa," which has subtitles. For the most part, it's very good.

okay this is like really annoying me so I'm commenting under russian shows and movies. I'm russian and I grew up watching russian shows and movies and all that, as I grew up in England I lost the language a bit but still understand it but cannot spell or read it. but that is of topic, I've been looking for this movie or maybe its a tv show about a husband and wife who are unable to see each other because of some supernatural shield or smth. This only happened after they had an argument with each other and the man got angry so he left the house and got hit by a car. Then from this point they could only communicate through a tv screen at night and this happened until they sort things out with each other. Both the husband and wife had to take care of their children but on their own and idk if I explained it properly but someone please tell me if this sounds familiar.

Russians are good at making WW2 propaganda movies and tv series. They never show the truth about WW2 though. Don’t ever take these seriously.

Great show. The characters are likeable and believable. The story is compelling and makes me want to watch through all the episodes.
Modern Hollywood is doing this thing where all women have to be better than any man in any scene and it's absolutely ruining the stories they're putting out. It's refreshing to see women depicted as brave and competent without them having to upstage all the men, all the time.
I love the restored tanks in the action scenes. I'm no expert but to me some of them appear to T34s.
I've been watching the WW2 Week by Week RUclips series which presents a chronological view of the war with considerable detail about the Eastern front. This series ties in nicely to that.
I really hope this series finds a robust international audience. More people watching has to translate into more of these sorts of shows being made.

The English subtitles on top of the Russian ones sure don't help anybody learn Russian. Have them separated, so both the Russian and English ones can be seen.
