Hey Mr Chan, what kind of rules do you establish with a sparring partner who youre going to HARD/LIVE spar with? im a heavyweight and ive given and received concussions lasting days in the past.. i want to return to rotating a live spar in every so often to test things... i personally dont feel comfortable throwing my right hand 100% at a friend/sparring partner's head because ive really hurt people in the past. so im curious when you spar full speed are there certain strikes that u never truly send full speed IE head kicks or hooks perhaps? or do you let them know before hand like hey if either of us get wobbled, followup with ONLY body shots so as to not seriously hurt eachother? Thanks in advance
Not gonna lie, this is one of my better training videos and I seriously think these drills are great to incorporate in your training! You never know what's going to happen in a fight, whether you get injured or not, so practicing is key!

I confirm, very nice one Jeff 👌, thanks!!
Great vid Jeff and I'm glad you got a sponsor. I do have some questions though.
Do these drills teach bad habits/ take away habits? I mean you have drilled your left kick so much that you struggle not to throw your kick. Is this bad training because it forces you to unlearn some good habits? And about the shell up drill, you have mentioned before that you don't like shelling and taking shots to the head. Isn't this drill teaching some bad habits?
Let me know if I'm wrong: these drills are not necessarily for developing fight habits. 🤔I mean it would seem counter-intuitive. I guess these drills help with developing something you suck at by forcing you to engage in doing that action. Other than that, I don't really see the point of these exercises. *If that is the case, would you also recommend doing this drill but the fighters don't know what their opponent's restrictions are? That makes them fight more realiscally and defensively sound (E.g. You are still aware and cautious against punches when your opponent can only kick).
Thanks!
I'd recommend extending the exit of your video so recommendations don't cover up you being rag dolled by a girl =D
Did u ever spar with fighttips? If not I think you should
That would be interesting
Fighttips is applicable theory. Jeff is the tried and true. Both are good, just different nuances.
@Carlos Cerda absolutely
@Carlos Cerda Oh For Sure... I would even bet money on it that Jeff would kill fighttips
@@Velyren nah Shane is probably the worst martial arts RUclipsr along with mind smash. Says a lot that they are the biggest
Damn Ashley’s a straight killer great video once again
haha thank you! yes she is a killer!
Old enough to be his Da so I can say this. What a sweet & professional kid. Complete Class Act. Hope his parents believe in what he's doing and are proud of him. If I had kids I'd love them to have a coach like this.
Love these drills, Jeff! I think a lot of self-defense gyms miss out on the sparring aspect of training and these are a perfect way for hesitant students to get started. 🙏
thanks for watching brother!
Thanks for this Jeff. Big fan of your work, honestly you and the channel are going from strength to strength all the time 👊🏿
thank you John!!
Top quality content Jeff. I have not seen better sparring drills out there!

HAHAHAHA yeah
Jeff! Huge respect for your skills and style, even more for how genuine of a guy you seem to be with all of your subscribers.
I was wondering if you have any plans for a video covering your tactics or drills for parrying, catching and blocking punches. Your timing and defensive movement is awesome to watch.
hey brother, I def can make plans for it now that you mentioned it! Keep your notifications on for when it comes!
Jeff coming in clutch! I was actually on my way to go spar and I had to stop and watch this video! Great content Jeff!
HAHA thanks bro!

Jeff, these are great. I do a few similar ones with brand new people learning to spar, but I picked up several great new ideas from you. Awesome material.

Hi Jeff, I totally agree with you, this video is on the next level! Incredible helpful and high value drills to improve the skills without hurting yourself while sparring. oh how I miss to able to sparr with somebody in the gym. We are in full lockdown, all gyms are closed. As always thanks your video

Your videos have helped me out so much in quarantine! If you're able to could you maybe make a video on solo grappling drills?
ill see what I can do bro!
Good stuff, sir. As always...
thank you!
more partner sparring drills pls! this is so helpful
cheers!
Outstanding training drills 🤙🏼
thank you!
keeping tht grind going helps you improve and that’s sum jeff teached me🤝💯 keep tht grind❗️💯
thanks for watching bro!
Awesome! Indeed, situational sparring and isolating certain skillsets is crucial to training and improving said skillsets. Too many people just want to spar where anything goes within their particular ruleset, but people don't really improve much this way. If you want something to come out, you have to specifically focus on, drill and condition it. This is like your other video "Going Into Sparring With A GOAL
". :)
haha yes exactly! thanks for watching my brother!
This is so helpful, Jeff! I’m definitely going to drill these with some guys I coach. Thanks for all your hard work and for sharing your knowledge! 🙏🏽
thanks for watching Mark!
Great drills and Ashley is a beast!
yeah she is!!!
Great man - I’m sharing with my coach!
awesome!
Great video!
thank you!
The last 2 exercises seems to be really tough! During this pandemic times i have only One friend to Spar with, a TALL, i mean , very TALL one! Great advices to improove my technical skills instead of going for the clinch and dirty boxing! Great video as allways, and Great sparring partner also!
thank you brother!
Amazing work!
thank you!!
@@MMAShredded Anytime! I know a lot of work, sweat and tears went into your training, but I wish I had 1/4th of the skill you have in Muay Thai.
Her boxing was on point! Good movement patterns.
yeah she's awesome!
Jeff Chan best motivator for Sparring 💯👍
thank you!!
girl was giving her all and bro was chilling, damn its literally Jeff Li
haha
Jeff bringing us the quality content as always. Im gonna use these drills for the next few weeks in our dojo.
Also, maybe something helpful. During Drill 4 when you are workin your right side and the left kept wanting to kick, maybe cut the leg off at the thigh to prevent an unwanted kick. LOL obv Im joking you would need a Dr there to attach your leg back on after each Drill.....
Maybe not all advice is good advice :) Hope all is well with you and your new family.
LOL true. thanks for watching man and hope all is well with you as well. Enjoy your Christmas!
Amazing Video!
thank you!!
Like every time... nice video;)
thank you!!
My instructor did a near-identical rotation for, wait for it... KRAV MAGA sparring in a krav maga gym. The students' skill level was very diverse. Crazy how the best training can crop up in the most unexpected of places.
cheers!
Damn Jeff that slipping when she had you at the wall was perfect !
haha thanks bro!
Man you gotta keep in mind that this was the guy that people keep telling that has an awkward fighting style. But right now for me, he has one of the most beautiful striking!! Gotta be one of my favorite striking styles second to my list of favorites with nasukawa tenshin on the first😁. My striking style now consists of both Jeff's and Tenshin's combined.
hehe thank you brother!
@@MMAShredded you're welcome!☺
the best
jeff 💪 🤜🤛
thank you man!!
You spar in a good way with women/girls. Much more relaxed and nice movements
cvheers!
I definitely need this type of training
cheers!
@@MMAShredded thanks
thx Jeff. Hola from Mexico
cheers!!
my guy is good at stand and ground 😫 such a talented guy ✊✊✊
thanks bro!!
I never do any drills like this where I train because I don't think people fancy it; but they're all legitimately great drills and something I'd like to incorporate.
try them out!!
Fuck yeah bro!! Love these sparring drills i already do some of these thanks for the knowledge. Im a go train
1. Lead hand only
Beginners can work basic defence and build confidence
Experienced guys can work head moment
2. Regular boxing drill
Forces kickers to use hands instead of always kicking
3. Kicking only
Great for rally’s
4. kick-boxing lead vs rear side one side can only throw right kick, other only the left kick
5. Regular kickboxing rules
No knees yet
6. Boxing vs kicking
Shows the kicker how great an option it is to counter punches with kicks.
Boxer wants to pressure forward, throw combos
7. Counter vs offence.
Sucks for offence
Shows how effective it is for counterer.
Remember we’re trying to help each other get better
8. Toe to toe.
Fighting in the pocket.
9. Boxing and knees.
10. Clinch rounds
Important to practice for well roundedness
Just finished doing these with my friend. I didn't realize a few of these required switching roles and therefore required 2 rounds (lead vs rear, offense vs counter, punching vs kicking). We thought we were in for 10 rounds and ended up doing thirteen and feeling BEAT by the end. Good stuff though! Learned a few things that I suppose I don't normally get access to because I avoid the specific situations I had to be in.
LOOOL nice well im glad you got a good workout in!
creativity to its fullest :)
thanks man!
Very cool exercises, good explanation.
If you would have timestamps in your descriptions for every exercise/technique it would be even better.
thanks for the feedback!
Nice 💪
thank you!
I swear I can't wait try this in sparring
It's been so long my gyms are still closed 😁
thanks for watching!
Great video
thanks man!!
Great video! Could you do a video about the legend Roy Jones Jr.? Like his best tactics or combinations he threw. I would highly appreciate that!
Here ya go bud
ruclips.net/video/eJ2nc9fDsQ4/видео.html
ill add it to my list, I got one on Floyd Mayweather coming up though!
My boy Jeff pulling up with the cloth shin guards

This was helpful

@@MMAShredded no worries man just keep up the good content
Great video you gave me a lot of ideas thanks. How about one round only feinting I heard City kickboxing do that a lot

Top Broder 💯
thanks brother!
Uuussshhh 🥊🥊🙏🏻
Great 👍 content Jeff, sure it looks very helpful , I will definitely try it out. 😅 just to be curious have you ever sparing Match with your finance? ,❤❤
thanks bro!! haha I train with her but no sparring :P
Lol i dont know why when i saw Jeff Chan do an epic headmovement 🔥auto laught 😂
LOOL
Dear Jeff, I love your channel. There is another channel called Siam boxing that has been gaining traction. Would you ever do a collaboration sparring video with them?
id love to if I had the opportunity! thanks for watching Peter
You've probably had this question before but, where did you get your footgear? I have a set that velcros around the back of my calf and under the arch of my foot, but that sleeve looks a lot more stable than straps. Very curious to know where you got them cuz I want a pair now too. Love the content, keep it up Jeff!
Hey bro, they are called meisters! They are very cheap but fit snug and tight, I love them!
Bruh how is your conditioning so good you can just go for round after round of sparring... That shit wipes me out too fast. Great video 👍
haha bro I was tired! thanks for watching!
💪💪💪
thank you!
I'm lovin those shorts dude, where'd ya get em?
I think they are from fairtex
My boy got a sponsor! Next video: how to improve your training recovery by going to the best resorts
haha best resorts! that would be amazing :P
We use to do boxer vs kicker in myanmar. Its to improve both attack and defense
sweet! love that drill!
Its a good one yes. But the other ones you showed are very good ones too
toe to toe running man! lmao !
HAHAHA
i dont know about that only kicks training you probably shouldnt do it too often but it does look like its good training for cheks and counter kicks
The woman fighter in this video, Ashley Nicholas, passed away last week. Rest in peace fighter.
Do you have any videos showing how you did that awesome side to side footwork starting at 9:28?
hey! try this video: ruclips.net/video/I-aYifqsHf4/видео.html
Can you make a video on working on defence?
definitely!
Hey Chan great video I was wondering how long have you been doing Muay Thai I’m 15 and I want to reach your level buts it’s hard because my sister recently got Covid and she’s 9 so I have to stay inside but I still can push myself to train and help my mom
hey brother, I started training at 15 as well. just keep it up and you'll def surpass me! training at home is great, as long as you follow some sort of curriculum!
3:03 So satisfying :)
haha!
Jeff i want you to be my personal coach and travel with me to have my matches.okay i will visit you after tommorow
sounds good bro
Jeff could you do a video on how to go about facing someone who moves backwards and laterally all the time
hey bro try this video: ruclips.net/video/_a2Y3NElY0I/видео.html
@@MMAShredded thanks jeff!
Hey bro from where are the Shin guards? Are they comparable with leather ones?
they are called meisters, cheap but I like them because they are snug fitting!
Jeff!! @9:25-9:30 what drills for that type of footwork? Great work.
I can def make a video on footwork!! thank you!
where u buy pink thai short?
10:12 did you feint a jumping knee to land a rear uppercut to the body? Or were they two consecutive strikes?
I tried to throw a jump knee but not actually land it, and the body punch wasn't actually a punch haha
@@MMAShredded it looked like a setup😉
The young lady is very impressive!
she is!
I got much pain in my left hip when put under pressure like when i'm kicking or stretching and this has gotten me not being able to fully perfom a kick with proper form. Do you have anything that might help me improve? Thanks
hmm im not sure to be honest, but I would go seek help from a chiropractor! hope you figure it out bro, stay safe!
@@MMAShredded Thanks brother!
What are the shin guards you're wearing? How do you like them?
meisters! I love them haha, they are cheap and thin but comfortable!
@@MMAShredded oh wow, can't believe you responded. Your videos have helped me improve so much, thank you for the great content!
