Really feel like your channel has proven itself with high quality and a love for the game particularly in covering the draft. Dylan you’ve got my support and hopefully many fans as well, we love your unbiased approach and how you explore all areas. Keep it up
I'd rate Jack Ross ahead of Banks on the wing. Before the tsunami of injuries, in 2023, The Mongrel Punt had himtracking in the top 3 wings in the whole competition. Also, Bauer was recruited as a fwd but spent some time in defense in VFL games.
Great video mate. You've really capture a clear, cut and precise analysis of Richmond's list in what their strengths and weaknesses are and even a hint of what to expect roughly. Looking forward to when you do North's starting line-up but will still tune in for all the ithers too. Keep up the good work
I see Prestia taking more of a mentoring role this year. Likely to see him start on the bench or only play limited minutes. Jack Ross not being included seems harsh given he has worked well in our midfield group earlier in the year, particularly the first half of the St Kilda game at Gather Round. I can see Rioli getting some more game time as well, not sure where he would slot, maybe to replace Campbell or Bauer if we want to work smaller rather than tall, possibly have him ahead of Alger too. Othwerwise you seem to be about on the money. Great vid as always.
@@DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft They will both play imo. Mansell is a crash and bash pressure machine who started to hit the scoreboard last season. Rioli is one of our few players with genuine pace and started to win more ball the last few games before he got injured, so they are different types. It’s actually not a bad team, we just have no depth so a few injuries and we are stuffed lol.
@GhostOfRT300 not sure if those names warrant automatic selection. I get tigers fans are a fan of Ross but I don’t really know what he is or what he brings to this team on the field.
MJ needs to be in IMO, he'll play small fwd & roll through the midfield. He can be the nippy dynamic for the midfield. He played a game in the VFL late last season where he reminded me of his dad,(yes I'm old enough to have watch his dad), MJ was the difference with his ball winning & vision, I think the club will be giving him every opportunity to bring that standard to AFL level. Jasper I think needs more time in development, he is a young ager being still only 17.
Yeah agree with others Junior will start over Alger until he proves otherwise and I personally prefer Lefau over Bauer with his pressure and ability to play as second ruck but can understand going for the younger player. Definitely agree our offensive run is a big issue which is why I think Banks could be shifted back instead of Trainor and bring in Ross on the wing. Anyway great vid as always, love the amount of detail you know about everyone's lists.

Few differences. I think blight absolutely deserves a good run of senior games this season as he absolutely dominated vfl last season. Think he is a like for like type with trainor in that of being a good aerial interceptor and good disposal from the back. Also like the idea of getting games into both faull and Armstrong, even though definitely a little tall of a lineup. Let trainor and Alger get some good vfl reps in and build them up. Also would really like sims to do a lot of work in the vfl ruck. I think the future pairing of sims and faull in the ruck / fwd can be a very versatile ruck tandem that will be super important the way footy is heading. My biggest hopes for 2025 lineup is seeing Bauer, steely and blight get a good consistent chunk of games. Think they all showed a lot of X factor. If Bauer doesn’t play every possible game he can this year I’ll be super disappointed he was dynamic in the last couple games of the season definitely something about him!
yeah! I like him too! he's one that's too good for VFL but also I feel he's behind all of these guys! Will no doubt get opportunity through injury though!
Yeah good job really, as a Tiger supporter I don't mind it at all, like you mentioned Rioli prob unlucky here. One thing I don't want to see is players giving up or checking out mentally such as Taranto and seniors, I'd like the club to get some work on mindfulness into them especially the young guys so we see that fighting Tiger spirit with some belief, win, lose or draw. Really liked this thanks.
Richmond man myself. It’s definitely a puzzle. I’ve heard murmurings that Tigers HQ are considering a midfield education for Rioli Jr. I think Hopper might be the nicest Richmond player but I think the magnets could flip with him and Seth Campbell who I’ve also heard is in the mix for midfield.we actually had a number of games with high i50s last year but our conversion was terrible, this is why I think Armstrong from Day 1. Those are my thoughts anyway.
Excellent analysis. A low finish could mean two more very talented youngsters being acquired in the 2025 draft. I suspect we will look for dynamic mids to compliment this team. Add Hotton, Armstrong and Sims later on and potentially we will have a very strong foundation for the future., That can only be good for our long-term development. We need to obtain as much elite youthful talent before Tassie enters to ensure by the end of the decade we will be gathering again for another tilt at success. Once again Dylan, excellent thoughtful work.
Good assessment. But I’m also going to say Jack Ross will probably get in there if he can get the form he was starting to show at the start of last year. He compliments Taranto and Hopper somehow. I don’t know how - they just seemed to work better when he was in there 😂
Nice video - I’d recommend adding the names of the players against their profile pic, makes it a little easier to know who you’re referring to for people like me who doesn’t know every player
Good appraisal, but think you have left out a few that should be in the mix. These being Jack Ross (on wing changing midfield), Maurice Rioli (pressure forward and on ball) and Ben Miller (defence and back up ruck) could also see new recruit Sims (tall forward/2nd ruck)
Oh & Jack Ross will play game 1 & Tyler Sonsie can't be discounted.. I know its early days & next years practise matches will give us all better indication on where the players are at..
Miller lines up round 1. Wouldn't have thought he gets the no.12 to play VFL. MRJ into the forward line. Jack Ross into the mids. Sampson Ryan would need a huge pre-season to occupy a bench spot.
The good thing about the new recruits coming in is that the current young players either have to improve or their spot will be taken. I personally think Maurice Rioli will be in the team just for the defensive chase/pressure Yze seems big fan of him compared to Hardwick/McQualter. but I agree with most of what you said, I can't see Miller getting too many games next year with Balta playing back, the only way I see him getting games is if Gibcus or another injury to one of our defenders.
yikes that team isn't too hot, so many players I just don't know. here's my best team for them. Balta Gibcus Vlastuin Trainor Short Broad Ralphsmith Banks Nankervis Taranto McAuliffe Smilie Lalor Sonsie Mansell Lynch Armstrong Faull Brown Hopper Prestia Rioli. I've gone with Armstrong and faull together because I think if one of them is playing as a third it's less pressure, maybe they alternate that role. Trainor can probably lock down on a medium, I prefer him to Brown. Hopper is on the bench cause he cost me a multi this year. Alger could probably go in over rioli who i think is untalented but a good pressure forward, I rate sonsie purely from his draft year. anyone missing is because I just don't know them. Also they have like 6 guys returning next year from ACLs, I dont think they will go winless like Bickley said, but a year of experience will be fine even if they are spooned.
Rioli should be best 22 ahead of Alger at this point and that forward line looked to lack pressure with three talls and Lalor. Riolis forward pressure is excellent - just needs to build his offensive confidence. He can play! I think Fawcett might be ahead of Faull ATM due to the extra preseason. Would like to see Faull dominate some VFL games before coming in.
Wooden spoons don't have the same level of negative stigma attached to them these days. In fact, stripping the list & bottoming out to rebuild is the sign of a courageous club. The eternal top up is a cheap strategy that rarely delivers a flag.
I think I would have MJ as the 5th on the bench (or over Alger) and Ross in for Prestia (although realistically Prestia probably plays if fit). But pretty good overall I think. Doubt that many draftees play round 1 though. I’m not sure who plays as second ruck here. It’s a problem as I wouldn’t particularly want Ryan playing

This time last year everybody was saying it was West Coast for sure finishing last. 🤣 Richmond won’t be playing finals but they maybe better than most think around 11th to 14th range would be a surprise to what all the talk in the pre-season has been.
I think North will improve with Parker and the young guys improving. Eagles also got a few more mature bodies. We lost our best 4 players pretty much. The draftees are exciting but I don’t think people realise how rough 2025 will be. We will be clear last unfortunately.
I think we should be happy if we match last season. Couple injuries and we're a VFL side. I'm all for it, but we shouldn't be winning more than 3 games unless yze puts on an absolute master-class
Maurice plays over Alger. Not to say Alger is bad but Maurice is deadset electric. Also Ross over Banks, he offers more to us than Banks does. (Although Ross prefers inside mid than wing, its where he'll play.)
