Takeout Doubles: Learn to Play Bridge

What is a takeout double? When you have an opening strength hand but opponents open first, what can you do if you don't hold a strong 5-card suit to make an overcall? A takeout double can be very useful in this situation, allowing you to compete when you hold a shortage in the opener's suit.
