The best way to explain alicorn continuity would be the whole “an alicorn exists for a purpose” like, cadence is for romantic love, twilight is for friendship, celestia for the sun, Luna for the moon, and then Flurry heart for familial love. So this alicorn society was probably just some sort of focal point where alicorn were created by the universe to control specific aspects of the world. It would explain why Opaline calls herself a fire elemental. Every alicorn is intended to rule over, protect, and control certain aspects of the world.
Cadance's situation is double-weird, considering that she have *Crystal Heart* as a Cutie Mark (when she never even seen one), and was recognized by crystal ponies as a Crystal Princess (when she never was in Crystal Empire before that). There's some serious Usagi Tsukino/Princess Serena shiz going on.
7:02 I feel ya. I remember at some point in comics 15-16 Spike mentions that going into the Library's books is just like that time he pulled everyone into that Power Ponies comic. This fudged with me, because the Power Ponies epsiode happened only after Twilight got her wings, but Twilight doesn't have her wings in this comic, so there's nowhere this could fit into the continuity! ...I stopped stressing about canon after that
I just think of G5 as one of the alternate timelines Starlight created back in the season 5 finale. It's easier to not get caught up on all the continuity problems that way

And it's also just people being introduced to fan content before watching the actual show, so they're surprised to see character designs like Button Mash in the show when they thought he was just a fan character. It's easy to forget not everybody was into the show from the beginning and followed the show canon and creation of fan content in real time, so jokes like Applejack being called a background pony kind of lose all their original context through time.
A reminder that this is supposed to be a cartoon for little girls made to sell more toys. The sheer lore and its relative consistency is pretty wild when taking that into account.

The first case is likely what was intended by the author. Since the canvas contains a version of the Zephyr Heights Throne that existed in the past, its adition was done by someone who knew about that location back then (who did not knew how it may look in the future). -> The second alternative is more likely, because the ONLY example of a "vision" (Celestia about Tirek) looked like a remote seeing of the present, not a "prediction". Starlight Glimmer method of time travel consists on jumping into a parallel timeline (identical in every practical sense), but "landing" in a point of its past [creating a divergence point], then moving firdwards in time alongside that second timeline into its future (that is consistent & logical). The FiM S2E20 "It's about time" has 3 different Twilights (future!twilight visiting the "Mane" timeline, then going to a second); the Mane!Twilight visiting a third timeline (with a third!twilight observing her), then jumping to a fourth timeline (similar to the "Mane", but not exactly that one). -> It just "looks" like a "closed timelike curve/loop" on a single reality but it CAN NOT BE. 2:15 Honestly the first theory still works imo, that there had never been an alicorn born outside of Skyros until Flurry Heart. We now just know that Skyros and Equestria once existed (or possibly may still exist) simultaneously
If anything, I usually find it fairly simple to be able to treat other forms of media as canon as long as the writers say so & it doesn't contradict the main show. I mean, while the show is made to sell toys, all the other media is made around the show, so the tv show should be considered the primary canon. If a chapter book contradicts something in the show, I think it's fair to call it non-canon. However that wouldn't necessarily harm any episodes in the show itself (Examples; Twilight talking about Pinkie setting up a "Rockin Ponypalooza Party" shouldn't affect the episode itself, it's just a party Pinkie planned for the music festival for this episode, the other Ponypalooza Party from the chapter book would be the only thing considered non-canon, the show overwrites the book. The comic of Cadence stating she's an orphan doesn't say anything about the events in the chapter book, only that she's an orphan. She can be an orphan without a chapter book that was taking advantage of that being canon. And if the Fiendship is Magic comic with Sombra is a prequel, it wouldn't conflict with anything. And especially if it doesn't contradict the show but the one coming after it does, as long as you're still prioritizing the show, you should be ok with the Sombra origin being canon). Grant it, that still leaves things like the Alicorn dilemma, but I would say that was just inconsistent writing, only because there's no way not even Celestia & Luna could have zero knowledge about this when they themselves are natural Alicorns, as even the show states they were Alicorns before they met Starswirl & Celestia took on the role of raising the sun Ok, I know this is a lot, but I figured I might as well share a little on my thoughts on how to deal with canon for a franchise that spreads stories and lore over multiple medias
Let's also not forget that Hasbro just released a thing saying that Tell Your Tale was going to take precedence and be the main focus of G5 after they finish up 2023's Make Your Mark episodes. Tell Your Tale is not only canon, even the people funding the thing are like, "Yeah, we done goofed, that web series is the show." Chapter 4 of Make Your Mark was good, a lot better than their previous efforts, but Tell Your Tale has just been consistent, and consistently good (not great, but still good). The best thing from G5 is still the movie, but Tell Your Tale seems to have a better handle on what's going on than Make Your Mark in my opinion. Perhaps Hasbro underestimated just how much work going 3D was going to be because Chapter 4 is a good indicator of what could have been for Make Your Mark, but it really holds me the most when discussing and linking to G4 lore while Tell Your Tale is getting much more invested in these characters and their world. The crew making Tell Your Tale knows how to work with that 5 minute format, and sometimes the Make Your Mark folks can't make 22 minutes even worth half that time. Compromise to creating 11 minute episodes by combining both crews and there could be a winner of a series on their hands in G5.
Mlp Tell Your Tale is kinda weird when you think abt it. It seems like it would just be super wacky comedic one-off shorts, but actually watching them it’s really not? Some of the shorts seem to tell a story of the ponies moving into the lighthouse, and the shorts where Sunny masters her ailcorn powers both have some sort of continuity that even has flashbacks to previous shorts. The shorts aren’t even much more wacky or silly compared to Make Your Mark (only a little bit?), it feels almost like a separate mini continuation but not really? Hope that makes sense lol
The unfortunate fact of the matter is that such a strong focus on canon and continuity is something adult-oriented media does and at the end of the day, that's not the target demographic of MLP
I honestly watch the youtube Tell Your Tale occasionally because its more stomachable to watch than the netflix series- although the newest chapter is actually fantastic and I know I'll be rewatching it soon
Keeping track of canon and inconsistencies is a full time job for fandoms generally (looking at you, Star Trek, Doctor Who and Red Dwarf). Honestly, it's far easier and more fun to just not bother.
Imagine if, (excluding fan-fiction stuff for obvious reasons), somehow everyting from everything from official My Little Pony G1-G4 and G5 media all suddenly became canon to each other, (including the real G2, which never had it's own cartoon series), with one unifying multi-Generation MLP movie or something, that basically explained everything..?
Celestias pink mane was also depicted officially in the opening sequence of the very first episode of g4 but other than that yes she has only ever had a rainbow mane.
This is where being a Star Wars fan comes in handy. For those who don't know, back in the pre-Disney days, Star Wars canon was orginized into tiers. At the tippy top were the movies. Bellow that were the novelization of the movies, which were based on Lucas preliminary scripts and notes, but which might feature some inconsistencies due to changes made while filming. Bellow that were the expanded universe novels, and bellow that were things like comics, video games, guide books, etc. ...and ALL of these were considered canon! Whenever two sources contradicted each other the source at the higher tier was consider the actual canon and the lesser source apocrypha... but only in so far as needed to resolve the contradiction. Other details from the lesser source could still remain canon insofar as they did not directly contradict a higher source.

I think even with Luna's line, it doesn't debunk anything that Celestia said because even though the two were appointed to rule over Equestria, that doesn't mean Alicorns were born IN it. There is also the chance that Equestria as we know it was made shortly after the girls were born and they were too young to see another alicorn birth before the other Alicorns disapeared. This is also a thing with Cadance having a UNICORN husband meaning they may have litterally seen Alicorns get with other ponies and never having an alicorn baby as well. So it doesn't contradict.
I feel like Luna's comment "It's beyond even our understanding" makes people overreact when it could easily be explained without people assuming they weren't naturally born Alicorns.... If they were naturally born Alicorns in an Alicorn society then both of their parents would also be Alicorns. This could literally so easily be "An alicorn baby being born from an Alicorn mother and a Unicorn father is so bizarre" without making people flip out that their headcanons weren't true for these characters. I feel like if people felt the need to go crazy over My Little Pony lore then this simple explanation should've satisfied people. Everyone misinterprets what the characters say all the time, assuming being an Alicorn is a recessive gene or something feels like something theorists would've been eating up at the time. I feel like people should've always accepted My Little Pony as a franchise having lore that contradicts itself. Like G1 and G3 lore will forever be my favorite generations for lore diving because it gets so insane for no reason. G3 especially feels like they deliberately fucked with the timeline just to mess with anyone who wanted to get into the lore. There are times during the Core 7 soft reboot where they acknowledge the events of past movies, books, the live show, and even acknowledge that there are two separate Cheeriliees in the same world or two Toola Roolas. Even G2 had a little bit of lore in like one game and in the character cards, and it's the only MLP generation to have the most consistent lore purely because there was only one piece of media for it. With a track record like this people shouldn't be all too surprised that G4 lore was always fucky and G5 lore will continue to be fucky. And that's okay because as long as the stories being told are fun and the characters are entertaining then that's what matters. Literally seasons 1 and 2 of FIM weren't lore heavy at all, all we got was Nightmare Moon, Discord, and some world building, and yet those are regarded by many as the best seasons of the show.
Luna's flowing hair is not due to aging. Her short mane is due to her being in a depowered state after being turned back from Nightmare Moon. So her young form should probably have flowing hair provided nothing is up with her magic, unless you theorise just being younger makes her magic weaker. Either could be fine.

Even manga series with one author across the entire lengthy run will have errors simply because the author forgot(looking at you Araki 😉) To quote the immortal words of Lucy Lawless: "Whenever you see something like that, a wizard did it."

Just have it be established that it's called the Marestream and that it runs on prisbeam power and the audience (those who haven't seen TYT) can fill in the blanks themselves. They already had the whole "It was something Izzy and I worked on" (or was it Izzy saying that about Zipp, I forget) introduction so all they needed to do was make those small changes and it feels more organic. It's like how TYT gives Señor Butterscotch an origin story but in MYM he just exists, like you're not meant to question why Izzy has a dummy unicorn made out of buckets and brooms. It still works on its own but TYT gives you that extra bit of context. Imo, it's not so much the "double origin" or continuity error that bothers me, more that it could've so easily been avoided and that the writers are capable or finding a workaround/not conflicting with one another. The only explanation I can think of is that this was deliberate since the Marestream is a toy and they wanted to cover their bases, marketing it to both the TYT and MYM audiences. Otherwise, yeah, I definitely agree that continuity shouldn't be taken TOO seriously, especially when it comes to the books, comics and other expanded media that only the fans of the franchise go out of their way to consume and only the absolute super nerds consume in their entirety. It's not necessary to acknowledge the existence of that material, but it's a nice treat when it does happen (e.g. Horse Play being based of the end of Journal of the Two Sisters and King Vorak being namedropped in the finale). Also, I appreciate you for bringing up and discussing the lore of the expanded media that fans often forget or don't know about. I think better care should be taken when it comes to main continuity, however, especially when there are two main shows running in tandem with each other. Obviously the writers don't need to stress over every little detail, just the more obvious plot details that even casual or child fans would notice. Thankfully, Make Your Mark is ending later this year, leaving Tell Your Tale as the primary canon, so it should be far easier to manage (and tbh, that might have been a factor in deciding to axe MYM). But at the end of the day, it's a fictional cartoon series, and it's inevitable that every piece of fiction is going to run into some sort of continuity error at one point or another. Heck, even real life is full of inconsistencies. So next time you see a contradicting plot point in a piece of media... a wizard did it.
It's like what we see of mlp is a slightly distorted mirror, while everything happens in a (imaginary) really different reality were all the story is coherently positioned, one we'll never see so it can only be portrayed in various different versions, with the various head cannons everyone has Yeah, that's more or less the excuse i use to calm myself down when thinking bout all these continuity errors
You hit the nail on the head with this one, Quantum. Tell Your Tale is absolutely canon in my personal opinion, and I would recommend them to get a full enjoyment out of G5. Same applies to the comics and books, I do consider them to largely be canon as well. Which is great, because those pieces of media are also quite enjoyable explorations of Equestria and its world. It just means more ponies for us to overanalyze and look silly over. Or something.
If I recall correctly, My Little Pony media has a sort of pyramid of canonicity that the writers talked about. The comics are at the bottom, the books are in the middle, and the shows/movies are at the top. Star Wars is the same way. If there’s something that doesn’t line up, always presume that the show (or movie in rare instances like the 2017 film, ANG, or EG) is correct. The Journal of the Two Sisters is canon insofar as it does not contradict the show. Star Swirl finding the Tree of Harmony is not canon but other events in the journal are.
As much as I am not enjoying Make your mark... I will not shit on it for not giving me all the answers YET. People say this makes no sence, but the show isnt done yet
The reason as to why people are begging for the answers is because they’ve just been constantly been over our heads. And for most people (including me) the G5 film was still enjoyable despite the big questions, meanwhile MYM and TYT have just been a letdown and instead of giving satisfying answers are just giving us terrible answers and bringing ten more questions when they give us answers

Honestly, I’m just tired of arguing about this kinda stuff with the fandom at this point. Right as I saw Celestia and Luna show up in Chapter Four, I was like “Nope. I’m not gonna debate about this stuff and just ingnore G5 relating to G4 at this point.” It’s just become exhausting having all of this war going on in the fandom that despite never being perfect in the first place, we could still join together and enjoy the show, but sadly, that seems to no longer be the case after Tell Your Tale and especially Make Your Mark I loved A New Generation and was cited for the following series, but it feels like I’ve been shot in the foot
Read "MLP: The Manga" there in one of the volumes (it seems in the second) they develop the idea of an infinite number of parallel universes (in the likeness of some Rick and Morty), and accordingly any inconsistency with the main canon, given the plot of the manga, is now also officially canon, just happening in one of the other parallel realities
I think this is a brilliant way to justify any inconsistency in the plot, since they literally say that there are worlds identical to each other, except for some one minor detail. For example, a world where Pinky has never heard of "Marzipan-mascarpone-meringue madness"
I thought TYT was canon but then Misty had to go an f*** it all up. TYT Misty quits Opaline outright. MYM Misty stays behind with Opaline having convinced the dumb@ss that Sunny overpowered and tied her up. NGL though, a Misty double agent for the good guys pretty cool concept! IDW Misty doesn't exist.
The Natural Born Alicorn paradox can easily be explained with the fact that Cellie and LuLu were like five when they went to Equestria and had no knowledge of Alicorn Schmexy Times when they left. They don't know everything - they were retconned out of their homes to rule a foreign nation because someone had to move the planets.
Me at history class can't stand listening about the WW1 and 2 over and over but this me hearing the mlp history once again after 2 years but yeah... I really need to go watch g5 now heheheh...
There is a lot of controversy and confusion around TYT, as some episodes are seemingly very important to the plot and progression of the main storyline. Some are entirely easy to throw away without making any difference to it, while others are surprisingly crucial for finding answers to why the series and its characters are the way they are. For instance... in MYM, Misty is not wearing the communication amulet that Opaline talks to her through in TYT. Tell Your Tale eventually has Misty tossing the Amulet away and breaking it after she sees how adversely it affects her friends... which seems to explain why she is not wearing/using it in MYM, and why she seems to have more internal struggle with what she wants to do vs what Opaline expects her to do... without whatever influence that necklace had on her, she is able to think and feel more for herself. They also made the most recent episodes of TYT painfully cannon by having the characters recap what happened at the end of chapter 4 of MYM on Netflix and react to it. Between these things and the fact that it has been rumored that TYT will outrun MYM in terms of getting new episodes, like it or not, we may find ourselves stuck with TYT as our only source in the future.

The best way to explain alicorn continuity would be the whole “an alicorn exists for a purpose” like, cadence is for romantic love, twilight is for friendship, celestia for the sun, Luna for the moon, and then Flurry heart for familial love. So this alicorn society was probably just some sort of focal point where alicorn were created by the universe to control specific aspects of the world. It would explain why Opaline calls herself a fire elemental. Every alicorn is intended to rule over, protect, and control certain aspects of the world.
Cadance's situation is double-weird, considering that she have *Crystal Heart* as a Cutie Mark (when she never even seen one), and was recognized by crystal ponies as a Crystal Princess (when she never was in Crystal Empire before that). There's some serious Usagi Tsukino/Princess Serena shiz going on.
7:02 I feel ya. I remember at some point in comics 15-16 Spike mentions that going into the Library's books is just like that time he pulled everyone into that Power Ponies comic. This fudged with me, because the Power Ponies epsiode happened only after Twilight got her wings, but Twilight doesn't have her wings in this comic, so there's nowhere this could fit into the continuity! ...I stopped stressing about canon after that

And it's also just people being introduced to fan content before watching the actual show, so they're surprised to see character designs like Button Mash in the show when they thought he was just a fan character. It's easy to forget not everybody was into the show from the beginning and followed the show canon and creation of fan content in real time, so jokes like Applejack being called a background pony kind of lose all their original context through time.
A reminder that this is supposed to be a cartoon for little girls made to sell more toys. The sheer lore and its relative consistency is pretty wild when taking that into account.

2:15 Honestly the first theory still works imo, that there had never been an alicorn born outside of Skyros until Flurry Heart. We now just know that Skyros and Equestria once existed (or possibly may still exist) simultaneously
If anything, I usually find it fairly simple to be able to treat other forms of media as canon as long as the writers say so & it doesn't contradict the main show. I mean, while the show is made to sell toys, all the other media is made around the show, so the tv show should be considered the primary canon. If a chapter book contradicts something in the show, I think it's fair to call it non-canon. However that wouldn't necessarily harm any episodes in the show itself (Examples; Twilight talking about Pinkie setting up a "Rockin Ponypalooza Party" shouldn't affect the episode itself, it's just a party Pinkie planned for the music festival for this episode, the other Ponypalooza Party from the chapter book would be the only thing considered non-canon, the show overwrites the book. The comic of Cadence stating she's an orphan doesn't say anything about the events in the chapter book, only that she's an orphan. She can be an orphan without a chapter book that was taking advantage of that being canon. And if the Fiendship is Magic comic with Sombra is a prequel, it wouldn't conflict with anything. And especially if it doesn't contradict the show but the one coming after it does, as long as you're still prioritizing the show, you should be ok with the Sombra origin being canon). Grant it, that still leaves things like the Alicorn dilemma, but I would say that was just inconsistent writing, only because there's no way not even Celestia & Luna could have zero knowledge about this when they themselves are natural Alicorns, as even the show states they were Alicorns before they met Starswirl & Celestia took on the role of raising the sun
Ok, I know this is a lot, but I figured I might as well share a little on my thoughts on how to deal with canon for a franchise that spreads stories and lore over multiple medias
Let's also not forget that Hasbro just released a thing saying that Tell Your Tale was going to take precedence and be the main focus of G5 after they finish up 2023's Make Your Mark episodes. Tell Your Tale is not only canon, even the people funding the thing are like, "Yeah, we done goofed, that web series is the show." Chapter 4 of Make Your Mark was good, a lot better than their previous efforts, but Tell Your Tale has just been consistent, and consistently good (not great, but still good). The best thing from G5 is still the movie, but Tell Your Tale seems to have a better handle on what's going on than Make Your Mark in my opinion. Perhaps Hasbro underestimated just how much work going 3D was going to be because Chapter 4 is a good indicator of what could have been for Make Your Mark, but it really holds me the most when discussing and linking to G4 lore while Tell Your Tale is getting much more invested in these characters and their world. The crew making Tell Your Tale knows how to work with that 5 minute format, and sometimes the Make Your Mark folks can't make 22 minutes even worth half that time. Compromise to creating 11 minute episodes by combining both crews and there could be a winner of a series on their hands in G5.

Mlp Tell Your Tale is kinda weird when you think abt it. It seems like it would just be super wacky comedic one-off shorts, but actually watching them it’s really not? Some of the shorts seem to tell a story of the ponies moving into the lighthouse, and the shorts where Sunny masters her ailcorn powers both have some sort of continuity that even has flashbacks to previous shorts. The shorts aren’t even much more wacky or silly compared to Make Your Mark (only a little bit?), it feels almost like a separate mini continuation but not really? Hope that makes sense lol

This is where being a Star Wars fan comes in handy. For those who don't know, back in the pre-Disney days, Star Wars canon was orginized into tiers.
At the tippy top were the movies. Bellow that were the novelization of the movies, which were based on Lucas preliminary scripts and notes, but which might feature some inconsistencies due to changes made while filming. Bellow that were the expanded universe novels, and bellow that were things like comics, video games, guide books, etc.
...and ALL of these were considered canon!
Whenever two sources contradicted each other the source at the higher tier was consider the actual canon and the lesser source apocrypha... but only in so far as needed to resolve the contradiction. Other details from the lesser source could still remain canon insofar as they did not directly contradict a higher source.

I think even with Luna's line, it doesn't debunk anything that Celestia said because even though the two were appointed to rule over Equestria, that doesn't mean Alicorns were born IN it. There is also the chance that Equestria as we know it was made shortly after the girls were born and they were too young to see another alicorn birth before the other Alicorns disapeared. This is also a thing with Cadance having a UNICORN husband meaning they may have litterally seen Alicorns get with other ponies and never having an alicorn baby as well. So it doesn't contradict.

I feel like Luna's comment "It's beyond even our understanding" makes people overreact when it could easily be explained without people assuming they weren't naturally born Alicorns.... If they were naturally born Alicorns in an Alicorn society then both of their parents would also be Alicorns. This could literally so easily be "An alicorn baby being born from an Alicorn mother and a Unicorn father is so bizarre" without making people flip out that their headcanons weren't true for these characters. I feel like if people felt the need to go crazy over My Little Pony lore then this simple explanation should've satisfied people. Everyone misinterprets what the characters say all the time, assuming being an Alicorn is a recessive gene or something feels like something theorists would've been eating up at the time.
I feel like people should've always accepted My Little Pony as a franchise having lore that contradicts itself. Like G1 and G3 lore will forever be my favorite generations for lore diving because it gets so insane for no reason. G3 especially feels like they deliberately fucked with the timeline just to mess with anyone who wanted to get into the lore. There are times during the Core 7 soft reboot where they acknowledge the events of past movies, books, the live show, and even acknowledge that there are two separate Cheeriliees in the same world or two Toola Roolas. Even G2 had a little bit of lore in like one game and in the character cards, and it's the only MLP generation to have the most consistent lore purely because there was only one piece of media for it. With a track record like this people shouldn't be all too surprised that G4 lore was always fucky and G5 lore will continue to be fucky. And that's okay because as long as the stories being told are fun and the characters are entertaining then that's what matters. Literally seasons 1 and 2 of FIM weren't lore heavy at all, all we got was Nightmare Moon, Discord, and some world building, and yet those are regarded by many as the best seasons of the show.

Luna's flowing hair is not due to aging. Her short mane is due to her being in a depowered state after being turned back from Nightmare Moon. So her young form should probably have flowing hair provided nothing is up with her magic, unless you theorise just being younger makes her magic weaker. Either could be fine.

The amount of people who get so hateful and vitriolic about fictional continuities need to understand that these things are made by humans and humans are practically famous for making mistakes. Even manga series with one author across the entire lengthy run will have errors simply because the author forgot(looking at you Araki 😉)

Really, they wouldn't needed to have changed much. Just have it be established that it's called the Marestream and that it runs on prisbeam power and the audience (those who haven't seen TYT) can fill in the blanks themselves. They already had the whole "It was something Izzy and I worked on" (or was it Izzy saying that about Zipp, I forget) introduction so all they needed to do was make those small changes and it feels more organic.
It's like how TYT gives Señor Butterscotch an origin story but in MYM he just exists, like you're not meant to question why Izzy has a dummy unicorn made out of buckets and brooms. It still works on its own but TYT gives you that extra bit of context.
Imo, it's not so much the "double origin" or continuity error that bothers me, more that it could've so easily been avoided and that the writers are capable or finding a workaround/not conflicting with one another. The only explanation I can think of is that this was deliberate since the Marestream is a toy and they wanted to cover their bases, marketing it to both the TYT and MYM audiences.
Otherwise, yeah, I definitely agree that continuity shouldn't be taken TOO seriously, especially when it comes to the books, comics and other expanded media that only the fans of the franchise go out of their way to consume and only the absolute super nerds consume in their entirety. It's not necessary to acknowledge the existence of that material, but it's a nice treat when it does happen (e.g. Horse Play being based of the end of Journal of the Two Sisters and King Vorak being namedropped in the finale). Also, I appreciate you for bringing up and discussing the lore of the expanded media that fans often forget or don't know about.
I think better care should be taken when it comes to main continuity, however, especially when there are two main shows running in tandem with each other. Obviously the writers don't need to stress over every little detail, just the more obvious plot details that even casual or child fans would notice. Thankfully, Make Your Mark is ending later this year, leaving Tell Your Tale as the primary canon, so it should be far easier to manage (and tbh, that might have been a factor in deciding to axe MYM).
But at the end of the day, it's a fictional cartoon series, and it's inevitable that every piece of fiction is going to run into some sort of continuity error at one point or another. Heck, even real life is full of inconsistencies. So next time you see a contradicting plot point in a piece of media... a wizard did it.

You hit the nail on the head with this one, Quantum. Tell Your Tale is absolutely canon in my personal opinion, and I would recommend them to get a full enjoyment out of G5. Same applies to the comics and books, I do consider them to largely be canon as well. Which is great, because those pieces of media are also quite enjoyable explorations of Equestria and its world. It just means more ponies for us to overanalyze and look silly over. Or something.
If I recall correctly, My Little Pony media has a sort of pyramid of canonicity that the writers talked about. The comics are at the bottom, the books are in the middle, and the shows/movies are at the top. Star Wars is the same way. If there’s something that doesn’t line up, always presume that the show (or movie in rare instances like the 2017 film, ANG, or EG) is correct. The Journal of the Two Sisters is canon insofar as it does not contradict the show. Star Swirl finding the Tree of Harmony is not canon but other events in the journal are.

The reason as to why people are begging for the answers is because they’ve just been constantly been over our heads. And for most people (including me) the G5 film was still enjoyable despite the big questions, meanwhile MYM and TYT have just been a letdown and instead of giving satisfying answers are just giving us terrible answers and bringing ten more questions when they give us answers
The problem is opaline,and sunny,twilight,cadence, Celestia,and Luna,and flurry heart want to be helpful goddess ponies,while opaline is like cozy glow from fim,and wants to be a ruthless empress pony,who like trump in our world just wants attention for himself,this is why I would've given misty bright dawn a choice unlike fim starlight felt she wasn't given a choice over who her friends were,she did as opaline threatens to take all magic from every species whether they asked for it,or not,I feel the reason misty now has a cutie mark is one it amplifies the lead pony of each generation,like in series like Voltron,where when the 5 lion ships, merged it gave the main lion ship its full power for good,just like all mane ponies in the 5 generations have,since in the 3 earlier ponies like mnty,and wysteria,and even firefly got very helpful magic,since as opaline said the cutie marks on the ponies flanks act as conduits for the magic flowing through their bodies,and somehow each generations tree of harmony acts as catalyst for enhancing ponies natural abilities,and also with new male dragons like sparky who will find in chapter 5 make your mark is spike,and smolder's son,since at the end of chapter 4 opaline felt other dragons waking up,and now that she has the dragon stone she will probably. hunt ember,smolder,and spike for their dragonfire,wonder if we find the pony earth has a anti harmony tree that helped create ponies like opaline as alicorn,and will we find alicorns are based on asian phhilosphy of earth,fire,wood,metal,and water,and twilight,Celestia,Luna,cadence, flurryheart,and sunny are types of elemental alicorns,and like Shakespeare's question to be,not to be its a question for ponies as well us humans to choose to be good,bad,or neutral in how we act,and react to stuff in us,and around us,makes sense when we humanized these ponies so much in all 5 generations of mlp,since why do ponies have homes,and stuff like phones,and in fim even lived in cities like ours but ponized the names from Manhattan to manehattan,what I want to know if a fim clone of pinkie pie survived,and her human fingers on the clones hooves is why ponies can hold stuff like phones such as earth ponies could before gaining magic,or could it be like when peter parker got enhanced spider powers in the 1st live action spiderman movie,and could literally cling to walls,wonder if discord as future human experiment in advanced science such as the hardon collider mutated our human descendants into the colorful,magical ponies of mlp,and mlp is just our world in the future,especially if ponies like Celestia,and draconques like discord are 1000+ years old,and what if hasbro created a mlp movie like its current transformers movie rise of the beasts that shows this,since hasbro has made billions. off the live action cgi transformers movies,imagine if they did this with there mlp ponies,even Warner Brothers did it with Scooby-Doo,and look how much that great Dane has made for Warners,even Disney did it with their male chipmunks chip,and Dale,and I heard since the current chip,and Dale movie was so successful,Disney is thinking of creating a second one,not that hasbro wouldn't lose alot if they let their ponies go to the next level,but if it was successful like chip,and Dale imagine what this could do for hasbro,probably create billions more from the mlp media brand who in April 2024 turns 40 years old as cartoon little horses,and Tara strong seems to like doing twilight sparkle's voice in both fim,and generation5,wonder if Andrea,Ashleigh,Cathy,and Tabitha, Peter rejoin generation 5 more than just the movie,or do they want their successors as voice actors to continue the descendants of fim in generation. 5, and more,and push more chapters,then hopefully generation 6,and later if hasbro decides to create more ponies,I guess we'll find out,wonder how Bonnie feels about her creation that Hasbro has created 5 herds of ponies,and maybe more,I feel if hasbro created a mlp museum,the 2 people they should name it for is Bonnie,and Lauren since they really gave life to these cartoon horses,and the philosophy of working together. through helpful friendships.

Honestly, I’m just tired of arguing about this kinda stuff with the fandom at this point. Right as I saw Celestia and Luna show up in Chapter Four, I was like “Nope. I’m not gonna debate about this stuff and just ingnore G5 relating to G4 at this point.” It’s just become exhausting having all of this war going on in the fandom that despite never being perfect in the first place, we could still join together and enjoy the show, but sadly, that seems to no longer be the case after Tell Your Tale and especially Make Your Mark

Read "MLP: The Manga" there in one of the volumes (it seems in the second) they develop the idea of an infinite number of parallel universes (in the likeness of some Rick and Morty), and accordingly any inconsistency with the main canon, given the plot of the manga, is now also officially canon, just happening in one of the other parallel realities
However, if you haven't read it, it's better to start with the first one, since they are plot-related
I think this is a brilliant way to justify any inconsistency in the plot, since they literally say that there are worlds identical to each other, except for some one minor detail.

Ahhh okay yeah, this makes sense! I'll explain for people who are confused. So basically
There is a lot of controversy and confusion around TYT, as some episodes are seemingly very important to the plot and progression of the main storyline. Some are entirely easy to throw away without making any difference to it, while others are surprisingly crucial for finding answers to why the series and its characters are the way they are.
For instance... in MYM, Misty is not wearing the communication amulet that Opaline talks to her through in TYT. Tell Your Tale eventually has Misty tossing the Amulet away and breaking it after she sees how adversely it affects her friends... which seems to explain why she is not wearing/using it in MYM, and why she seems to have more internal struggle with what she wants to do vs what Opaline expects her to do... without whatever influence that necklace had on her, she is able to think and feel more for herself. They also made the most recent episodes of TYT painfully cannon by having the characters recap what happened at the end of chapter 4 of MYM on Netflix and react to it. Between these things and the fact that it has been rumored that TYT will outrun MYM in terms of getting new episodes, like it or not, we may find ourselves stuck with TYT as our only source in the future.

I feel hitch,and sunny should open a breakfast restaurant called sunny's side up,and smoothies,since they already sing a jingle like cadance's,and twilights' song in fim,plus hitch seems to follow fim fluttershy's animal sanctuary with his critter corner in sunny's bright rainbow light house is now like fim twilights rainbow' crystal castle in fim,except sparky unlike spike ate the crystals if he got seriously hungry,I can't wait until sparky like spike truly talks instead of making sounds,imagine hitch like twilight freaking out when spike really started talking,and writing notes,wonder if spike was really close friends with derpy aka muffins since she was a postal Pegasus mare,and probably helped spike channel his dragon fire into transferring mail without burning it,I would love to know how sparky transforms stuff without burning it with his dragonfire,plus hitch like twilight has nervous breakdowns when sparky is missing,like in fim lesson zero when twilight had friendship lessons,I really like misty more as future g5 mane 6 member,she reminds me of fim starlight in some ways,I wish they let keep her hair color as bluish green,instead of orange in future chapters of make your mark,she also reminds me of Cinderella,and opaline is her evil stepmother,so who is Misty's future prince pony,after the manesqurade ball episode,hitch must have parts of twilight,or Bruce Wayne as batman,maybe he'll. be a bat pony like fluttershy talk about generation 5 being a descendant of fim,and pinkie pie's descendant is Izzy moonbow,especially when she let's sparky run reckless,which means pinkie probably fell in love a unicorn stallion,and their hippie descendants who created Izzy,since Izzy talks about hippie stuff like glitter,and talking to crystals wonder if unicorns have mood rings for their horns,maritime bay seems like a Florida city,Zephyr heights a Canadian city like Ottawa,and Briddle wood a Mexican city in a wooded place,since mlp is mostly a North American cartoon series,and brand of now 5 generations,and probably more if hasbro keeps creating these ponies,part of this is I'm excited for chapter 5 after enjoying chapters 1-4,especially episode manesquarade ball episode especially when misty,and the mane 5 dance in zephyr heights,even if sunny has a nervous breakdown about the the dance,wait till she reads twilights' journals,or read g3 pony wysteria's journals having to deal with g3 's spikes rules from his book,or how g3 rarity felt about g3 cheerilee's rules in becoming a pony princess of creating rainbow's,hopefully the history will relax sunny more,or she might have even more nervous breakdowns,this why I'll be happy if we find out what happened to argyle,and sunny's mother,since I feel sunny as a teenager probably had lots of reckless flare ups especially if her mother,and father left,or were gone,not that these types of episodes are fun to watch,even sunny as a filly in the movie seemed fiery,especially when sprout messed up her games,and toys,wonder if this turned on sprout,and this started his jealousy toward hitch,and his future need to be emperor,like fim cozy glow wanted to be empress,and why she,and sprout started manipulating ponies as they grew up,and least sprout didn't get cozy's sentence from fim,wonder if the cloverleaves' are descendants of the apple/orange/ pears,and posey bloom is sprouts cousin,I feel ponies should have kept more diversity even after the breakup of fim pony society,imagine all the diseases,and other stuff ponies could get being so close,even wild horses,and ponies understand the need for diversity compared to domesticated horses in our world,and why we should stop creating even tight nit domestic breeds of cats,and dogs,not that need feral cats,and dogs in our world just that even ponies in fim like twilight understood diversity in genealogy of ponies,and friendships,lucky Zipp storm haven appreciates this as well in mlp g5,maybe the isolation drives ponies like starlight before being reformed mad in fim,,and opaline in mlp g5 look at opaline's home as fire alicorn,reminds me of the fim episode castle mania with the sister's old castle,it even scares misty,and why I won't mind if we find out about Misty's family,wonder if dabble onyx's friend in briddle wood isn't. Misty's brother,or cousin,or the unicorn in maretime bay,since Misty's been kept away she might not her brother,or cousin unless this comes up in future. chapters,or episodes in make your mark,but i feel if mlp g5 goes deeper into pony history it might go longer than fim,since it seems like a slow build up to even more pony history,and like sunny,and Zipp I might get more frustrated,unless gm berrow is trying to do like fim in mlp g5,and create. more mystery for possibly g6 .mlp,or another g5 mlp movie,even the last fim movie added more questions than answers,wonder if gm berrow just needs more time,then why not add 7 extra episodes to chapter5, or later,unless they don't want to go beyond 9 chapters,or seasons like fim did.,if they do,then if I were Netflix I would hasbro all the time,unless Hasbro is creating a streaming service like its hub channel when fim was on,so it has more time to truly move these ponies along at a pace that really adds more depth to mop g5 like fim got with its ponies,and made the fim ponies hot to trot,and it spawned other shows like paw patrol for nickelodeon,now everyone is on the group friendship train,and until shows like mlp stop galloping so much through helpful friendships it seems this will be around for awhile,sorry I get carried with these deep ponderings, guess like twilight sparkle,and Zipp I have ocd which drives me to want explore this stuff deeper even its more fiction than fact,I guess this probably why mlp is still going more of us need more ponies,wonder if opaline has addiction to fire,another reason she should become more social ,it might help her even in chapter 4 when she got out she seemed less cranky,even misty likes being more social,even if Zipp still has reservations about misty guess some friendships take more time to gel,unless misty like fim starlight always going seem a outcast,even among many ponies,this is why I wonder if misty is related to fizzle berry pop aka tempest shadow from the 2017fim movie,since she had nervousness about being around ponies,plus the storm king seems like opaline.
