Are we slaves with no option than to agree how it all works? What happens if you dont play the game?

I just got some very disappointing news that something I 100% to be able to do has fallen through and I'm blind sided by it. I fully expected it would happen as there was nothing to cause me to doubt it at all, so I didn't think about it much. How does this fit in with Neville and other's teachings? By all accounts, this should have happened because I had full faith in it, right?
