    I didn’t have a Wii U or a way to emulate any games, so I was ecstatic when I saw a 3DS version! I think I’d want to give the original a go sometime, though.

    this will always remain one of my favorites as it was one of my birthday gifts. it was at a discount, and we didn't have money for a game like smash. It was also a difficult year for me but seeing Yoshi on the gamepad view in this awesome woolly place left me in awe. I give thx to my parents for buying the game and thx to my friend who passed down her Wii U to me.

    I feel like the WiiU version is the best way to play the game since you get to experience the art style in full glory, but the 3DS version would easily be the best if it ever gets ported and has the same graphical beauty of the original. The Poochy dash stages are more compelling than basic bonus stages in my opinion, and being able to create custom Yoshis is a great mechanic.

  • @FourDozenEggs

    For those interested in emulating Wii U using Cemu, do yourself a favor and use Vulkan rendering and turn on async shader compile. It eliminates the stutter issues. It does introduce some noticeable pop-in, but nothing that massively detracts from the gameplay experience. I'm pretty sure Citra also has async shader compile.

    Confusing they still haven’t ported this game to the switch, especially considering that the series has been dormant for 5 years now.
    3DS version looks a lot better than I remembered though, I remember it looking more deep fried.

    • @TheYoshiFanatic
      @TheYoshiFanatic  10 месяцев назад +4

      Yeah, I think a Switch port would make a ton of sense. But I'm not really surprised they haven't ported it yet, considering that Good Feel is busy with something else right now, and Yoshi games aren't in high demand.
      And yeah, given the hardware limitations of the 3DS, that version of the game does look pretty solid. Just not nearly as good as the original.

    • @TheYoshiFanatic
      @TheYoshiFanatic  6 месяцев назад +1

      I guess that depends on a few factors. It can be difficult to find 3DS games nowadays (aside from used games on sites like eBay), but emulating 3DS games is more difficult now that Nintendo took down Citra, the best known 3DS emulator and the one I personally use. And it also depends on how much you're willing/able to spend.
      If I were in that position, I probably would buy the 2DS and the games, then homebrew the 2DS. That way you could rip the games, install them digitally onto your 2DS and save them on a computer for emulating. Best of both worlds.

    To me, the Wii U version is by far the best. While the 3DS’ Yoshi customization is nice, the whole game feels really uglier and it really holds it back because a good part of the game presentation is its charming art style. Also, the coop in Woolly World is really important to me. I hope that this game does not get ported to Switch because the Switch needs to focus on new games instead of ports from the Wii U.

    • @TheYoshiFanatic
      @TheYoshiFanatic  2 года назад +1

      I can understand that, especially since, as you said, the art style is one of the key characteristics of Yoshi's Woolly World. As far as porting the game to the Switch is concerned, I don't think that it's necessary, but I sure would enjoy it, and I think it would sell well, and to most people, it would be a new game. I don't think it would be good to port the game in a year where there's a stack of new releases, but I wouldn't mind seeing it in a slow year to help fill in the release schedule.

    • @wiiu-theunderratedconsole7569
      @wiiu-theunderratedconsole7569 2 года назад +3

      @@TheYoshiFanatic The problem I have with porting games is that I feel like the Switch relies to heavily on ports like there is no new Mario Kart game on the system.

    • @TheYoshiFanatic
      @TheYoshiFanatic  2 года назад

      I hear you there. And there are a lot of Wii U ports. But there's also a lot of Switch exclusives. I feel that they've struck a decent balance between new games and ports, especially now that there are so few games left to port to the Switch.
      I do wish they brought a new Mario Kart game instead of bringing yet more DLC to an 8 year old Mario Kart game, but Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is more of an odd case. The Wii U ports don't usually get a lot of attention from Nintendo after initial release, which I think is the way it should be.
      As you indicated, Wii U ports shouldn't be a substitute for new games, and the fact we haven't gotten Mario Kart 9 is an example of Wii U ports being a problem. But they can also be a good thing, especially for games that deserve a chance on a successful console. I feel that Yoshi's Woolly World is one of those games.

    This game has a similar dilemma to Persona 3. There's the home console version with much better graphics and some other features to consider, but there's also a portable version that's stripped back in some ways but adds lot of extra content to make up for it.

    • @TheYoshiFanatic
      @TheYoshiFanatic  Год назад +2

      I find that's often the case with home console games that get handheld ports. Like, they seem to add the extra content to get people to overlook the graphical and audio fidelity shortcomings. That makes sense, but it also just makes it more frustrating, because if you want the complete experience, you have to play both versions. Otherwise, you're giving something up. There's not usually a definitive way to play the game.
      It's especially bad with Nintendo, I think, because their handheld line has been so popular over the years that it's a no-brainer to port some home console games to the portable consoles. They just never seem to bring it full circle by releasing a definitive version that has the graphical fidelity as well as the added content (a notable exception is Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition, but this is unfortunately the exception, not the norm).

    • @Some-guy-on-the-internet
      @Some-guy-on-the-internet Год назад +2

      @@TheYoshiFanatic Yeah, it's a shame that definitive versions of these games are rare. I played it on 3DS even though I have a Wii U because I wanted the extra content and 60fps on New 3DS was enough to keep me satisfied with the gameplay experience. But if they'd made a Switch version with the Wii U's graphics and multiplayer plus the 3DS content, I absolutely would've played that instead.

    • @TheYoshiFanatic
      @TheYoshiFanatic  Год назад +2

      Absolutely. Like I said in the video, if they put out a Switch version, it'd be a no-brainer for me to recommend. Part of me wants to hold out hope that they will make a definitive port of the game (they've ported almost every other game from the Wii U, so why not at this point). But I also acknowledge that there's likely not a lot of demand for Woolly World at this point, so we probably won't see a Switch version. We'll just have to make do with what we have.
