  • In this video, we break down the probability of drawing key power cards like Black Whirlwind when playing a Blackwing deck in the Edison format of Yu-Gi-Oh! Learn how using cards like Upstart Goblin or draw traps can affect your chances of seeing your game-changing cards earlier in the duel. I also calculate the average turn you’ll need to see your power cards and how you can optimize your deck strategy to ensure you always have an edge in your duels.

Looks like the real thing to do is play 6 draw traps and also 3 upstarts! Great vid! Glad to know the math and stats actually work out!

Wow that is very surprising. I'm still suspicious though. Turn 1 jog (jar of greed/yata) can never get you the card you need while upstart can. If you're playing multiples jogs, you will sometimes use one and draw into another and have to wait yet another turn, while if you upstart into another upstart you can just use it immediately. Also late game if you're going to lose the next turn, topping a jog seals your fate while upstart can save you.
That being said, giving your opponent 1000 lp is a lot and can basically give them an extra turn at some point in the future, also jogs can bait heavy etc. Edison is a lot faster than Goat, you can get OTK'd or 2 turn killed VERY easily by almost every deck in the format, and I think people die a lot by having a useless jog, the set pass, then lose 6000 damage that turn and lose lol. While in Goat the games are a lot longer and the amount of damage the average deck can output in one turn is much more limited, so jog is safer than it is in Edison.

I think you made a few fair points. I am still not sure which is better given all the aspects of the game. For pure digging I am certain there is no difference.

@@redgadgetyugioh I think the best way to look at this is actually out of x number of games, if you draw x number of cards on average, how many more power cards will you draw if you have x number of draw cards vs 0. And that result is SHOCKING. From my math, if you play 2 draw cards vs 0, and you have let's say 6 power cards in your deck, and let's say you draw 10 cards total on average per game, over 40 games you'll draw 3 more power cards, and you'll use the draw cards about 18 times! So if it's upstart, you give your opponent 18,000 LP over 40 games, so you can draw 3 more power cards. If you have less than 6 power cards, which I say most decks do, the math gets way worse. If you have 3, you'll draw literally just 1, and still give 18,000 LP. If you're playing Yata/Jog, you're going -1 for 2 whole turns 18 times... which is horrible too, but you get some other mild benefits by using it as a bluff etc but still.

I think in case of cards like Whirlwind or Stratos, the importance of getting it off going first heavily outweighs the downside of not being able to go +1 from chaining it.
Basically my thinking is: If you have space in your deck and dont really know what to play, go with yata, if you want to draw a specific opener, go with upstart.

But the point of the video was to show that there is actually no significant difference, on average, in terms of seeing such cards faster.
