    Elementor is awesome. Thanks for the overview of what you've used and liked, Shawn. This is helpful.

    Super interesting video - Seen a lot of noise regarding framer this year and as a designer myself have been considering it, but its refreshing to see a more considered perspective reflecting some of my concerns and the comparison with Elementor which I've used previously.

      Thanks! Framer is an incredible tool and I hope it sticks around for a long time.

    I see you're now with Astro. Could you explain why you made the change?

    • @shawn.hickman
      @shawn.hickman 2 месяца назад

      The main reason was speed. Creating new pages in Astro was much faster than in Wordpress. Also, page loading performance was much faster with Astro.
      The second reason was Astro gave me more fine-grain control over the design of the website in a much simpler way than Wordpress.

    I'm sticking with Squarespace for now, but I didn't update it for a while and now have to add pages for 4 Apps in it.
    I'll keep Wordpress as a second option in mind.

      Squarespace isn’t a bad option at all! It’s just not something I personally used.

    Thanks for this, I've been thinking about choosing a CMS for ages. It sounds like, for my needs, notion and super would be nice to try.

      Nice! The new tier of Super looks like it resolves some of the issues I experienced early on. I'd love to hear how this goes for you.

    I'm building my first site in Framer and I built my last site Elementor. I like both systems, but I'm hoping Framer speeds up custom design and integration from Figma. As a designer I really enjoy Framers design system. I wish Wordpress would do more effort to modernize.

    I chose Framer for client websites. Will keep using WP for my own sites. For client sites I find WP a pain as it's too maintenance heavy - always some problem somewhere.

      Interesting! Are you clients editing content in Framer via the CMS feature?

      @@shawn.hickman Working on my first framer client site right now, it's a one pager so no need for cms for most of the page. Will use the cms for the contents of a popup though which will show upcoming event dates and locations. Framer does have a learning curve but I like the flexibily and simplicity. Not having to deal with hosting, wp installs, configs, plugin security, maintenance and all that jazz. One pagers are only 5 euro per month also, so pretty low bar to entry.

    Did you ever considered Webflow? It seems like a middle ground between Framer and wordpress.

      I briefly looked at it before I used Framer, but I never dove deep with it. May have to give it a second look.
